POPSPalin & the Dysfunctional Political Class The current GOP seems to look for mediocrity...someone who will *fit*...a person who appears *electable*, a vanilla-type. It seems to stand for everything and yet nothing. Whether Mrs. Palin would make a good Presidential candidate, I don't know. But I'm weary to death of the clandestine people who mouth conservative rhetoric and then fold when the game is on. Give me a candidate who gives me a clear choice; not one who bows to the current political breeze blowing through Washington. I've just about lost all "Hope" because I don't see any on the horizon.

These brave people do this not because they have no other options, as Senator and noted idiot John F. Kerry has so condescendingly asserted. They do this because they love their country and are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to help preserve it. Republicans and FOX News, unlike the Democrats and their enablers and fellow travellers in the old media, can truly appreciate the depth of this commitment and sacrifice, consequently, fight wars with the intent of winning them, so as not to sacrifice such courage and dedication in vain. They do this without specious and whining claims about “messes left by their predecessors”, or taking weeks to make a decision so as to be in line with however the alpha sheep have caused the winds to blow that particular week. In short, they believe in leadership, not self-aggrandizing speechifying into every open microphone about their troubles. Alan, put simply, you are a detestable human being and a small man.

With no cover and facing certain death, he sprinted across 800 metres of exposed ground to reach a 25-pound field-gun. It was a brave - but apparently futile manouevre - as the huge weapon took three men to operate. That, however, did not deter Labalaba. Nor did facial injuries which would have rendered a lesser man helpless. As British forces watched in astonishment, Labalaba turned the cumbersome gun on the enemy and opened fire at near point blank range. He went on for six hours, decimating the rebels and ultimately paying for his courage with his life. His comrades found him slumped face down by the massive gun. His selfless actions undoubtedly saved many of the British soldiers holed up inside the fort and won him a posthumous Mention in Despatches. For many, his statue will be a long-overdue memorial to one of the SAS's greatest heroes. Humanity has enlightened leadership by all people in leadership positions. People know their oneness with each other and with the plant, animal, and mineral kingdoms. Isolation turns into community, aloneness into friendships, and separateness into inclusiveness. All people are free to follow and live their higher purpose. Humanity becomes aware of their higher purpose. People's personalities become vehicles to carry out their soul's love, light, and will. All people honor the earth and live in harmony with it and all life upon it. The plan of humanity works out in all its beauty and perfection.

This action is almost unprecedented, taking great courage and political determination. Our military is suppose to be controlled and led by civilian, political leaders; not by generals. If Obama didn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize award before (and he did); he certainly deserves it now.

I imagine he thought I was his angel for those two flights, but as we went our separate ways after landing in Chicago and I watched him walk away, I knew he was mine, instead. This week, be an angel for someone. Let them be an angel for you, a stepping stone forward into their week. And know that sometimes the angel you need is the one who needs you. And sometimes, just sometimes, they are already right beside you for the trip. (All the tests were negative, I found out a week later).

The ship departed from Avondale this morning at 7:00 a.m. and headed for the Gulf of Mexico. The ship’s journey has been met with fan fare, salutes, and glorious praise. Beginning with a New Orleans style farewell, the ship passed through Gretna and was met by firefighters and a police honor guard who sowed their honor and respect to those who died heroically on 9/11. As the ship continues to make its way to New York, she will be greeted by those who choose to remember and honor the nearly 5,000 who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
