The biggest share fall in 17 years, followed by the biggest gain. An interesting nugget here is that the FDA and the European regulators apparently disagree on the drug's role. Click through to the Bloomberg story for more.

"Real ID" rejected by states
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  1-19-2008
Schweitzer wants Congress to step up and pass alternative legislation that would stop Real ID and re-instate a commission that was working on driver's license rules before the REAL ID Act was slipped into must-pass defense legislation in 2005. That legislation assigned DHS the task of setting the rules single-handedly. Our "leaders" are worse than children - if their rules are rejected, they will apply them to more & more things, like cough medicine & unemployment eligibility. The stirrings of another civil war?

Study : Try Honey for Childrens coughs
pokkets
by pokkets  12-3-2007    1
Most people know or have heard of the benefits of honey with it's soothing and antiseptic properties. This study compared the recovery of children with chest infections, and the effects the remedies were having on the cough, and general recovery. Honey scored best, and this is important, as we learn some of the pharmaceutical cough and cold medicines, could be doing more harm than good.

by dfiskey  10-20-2007    1
while my doc has always been a big supporter of triaminic night time cold/cough--- and there were plenty of nights i don't know what i would have done w/o it---there is now more than enough speculation for me to know it is MUCH safer to let me kids cough out colds than the possible consequences. There is now way too much speculation on this issue for me to give my kids anything but standard fever reducers (tylenol, motrin)

the scoop on children's cough medicines that are being pulled
dfiskey
by dfiskey  10-13-2007
important info- this is from a very reliable source, and if you click on the source link they even offer a downloadable coupon to put towards a safe alternative-- i'm sure most parents out there, like me, have a lot of throwing away to do-- apparently children over '2' are not at risk-- sorry if these clips are getting a bit repetitive, but with child's safety---i plan on keep posting these for whoever is looking and learning!

I've gotten these email 'forwards for years, and always thought it was one of those scammy BS type emails....i now know better. I know I've uses Triaminic a number of times on my daughter during the first 3 years of her life-- that will obviously stop now, and my younger daughter will just have to suffer through those winter time colds (and so will i with the sleepless nights that those colds bring about..) Scary stuff

We are being hoodwinked by false labelling and deceit. I despise people who, in a bid to make profit, will trade on misery to an unsuspecting World. Hopefully the pedlers in human misery will meet a miserable death of their own! I have little sympathy for them.

Poisoned Medicine
debbyski
by debbyski  5-6-2007
"An examination of the two poisoning cases last year — in Panama and earlier in China — shows how China’s safety regulations have lagged behind its growing role as low-cost supplier to the world. It also demonstrates how a poorly policed chain of traders in country after country allows counterfeit medicine to contaminate the global market."
