POPS Turkey Carving 101 ~ A Big-Ass Knife Sharpen your big-ass knife confidently, carelessly, with one of those long scary sharpening things that looks like someone’s going to get a finger off. Slice. It’s that simple. Electric carvers verboten. What are you, some kind of girly carver? Real men eat dark meat, by the way. Arrrrr!

POPS34 do-it-yourself holiday gifts One caveat regarding making marble magnets: silicone caulk turns yellow over time, so a year-old magnet may develop an unappealing yellow tinge. Learned that one the hard way...

POPSHoliday Recipes~Turkey,Stuffing,Side Dishes,Desserts A perfect slice of pie is at once flaky, moist and makes the most of its fruit or filling. From the roast turkey to a slough of dazzling side dishes, the pie can't be an afterthought — it needs to make a sweet final statement. For traditionalists, we have plenty of pumpkin pie recipes from expert bakers who know a thing or two about rolling out the perfect crust. For those wanting to offer family and friends variety, we also have many apple, pecan, sweet potato, berry and creamy chocolate pies. Serve any of these showstoppers with homemade whipped cream or ice cream, and the encore to your Thanksgiving meal just might become the star of the show. http://img.recipezaar.com/images/2008/newsletter/111108/?nl=RZ-111108-issue-info__cant-view-url

POPSCupcake Project: An Experimental Cupcake Blog
"At dinner one night, some good friends mentioned that they were trying to decide where to buy cupcakes for their wedding. I surprised myself and others at the table by offering to bake for them. My friends surprised me by accepting…I decided to master the cupcake by then and let them pick their favorite three or four out of all of my experiments. There were just a few rules that I laid down: * I must like the cupcakes. I refuse to serve anything I don't like. This rules out both peanut butter and mint. * The cupcakes are not going to look perfect. I consider myself a good baker but I am not a perfectionist. They will look homemade. However, I will try my best to make them look pretty…I began my cupcake obsession because of the Bride and Groom and it only continues to grow. I am now onto my second Cupcake Project. I'm making cupcakes for other friends of mine who I refer to as Bride and Groom 2.0. Their wedding is Oct. 12, 2008. They have not yet picked their flavors."

POPSToddler Fun--An Easy & Non-Toxic Play Dough Recipe I miss the days of making homemade play dough with my children. Sigh. But if you are still fortunate enough to have little ones to entertain don't pass up the opportunity to mix up a batch of play dough with them. :) This blog is one of my favorites, full of delicious recipes and interesting stories of life in Tanzania. Check it out!

POPSSerotoninrain: what a blog should be I discovered this blog, more or less, when I first discovered blogs. blogging, and the social web in general, about two years ago. It has remained one of my very favorite blogs for reasons I've frankly never quite understood. It's just little daily glimpses into the mind and life of a smart, reflective, and interesting guy. He writes about his job, what he's reading, cooking, his family, and random weirdness that comes over the wires, including -- I'm not sure how he found them -- yours truly's clips. (That's not why I like his blog though.) Anyhow, all you aspiring bloggers, read this guy. This has sort of become the paradigmatic blog for me: short, frequent posts; a wide variety of subjects; fluid, interesting writing; and a very personal and reflective style. Having tried this with a couple abortive blogs, I also have an idea how difficult it is to sustain. Keep it up, Jim, and I'm awfully sorry about Fig.

POPSAnother Technorati test So this clip isn't really for public consumption per say. I'm trying to figure out how to get those Technorati Talk bubbles to work. So I put on on one of my Typepad blog posts and not I'm clipping it in the hopes that this information will show up in the talk bubble. I hope it works. Otherwise, I'll have to dig deeper.
