POPSRon Suskind vs. Bush Admin on Iraq-9/11 Fakery
Suskind's book has provided documentation of evidence and inside witnesses within the CIA and British Intelligence sources that a fake letter was ordered "from the White House" pretending to be from Saddam's Intelligence Chief to Saddam (whom the U.S. relocated and paid $5 million to) which was laden with lies and a claim of ties between Mohammad Atta (supposed 9/11 ringleader), Al Qaeda, and Iraq--back-dated prior to 9/11--which provided deliberately false claims to connect Iraq to 9/11. The White House has denied (see previous clipmark) but award-winning journalist Suskind summarizes his sources and defends his allegations on Democracy Now (see first podcast "listen" link). The second podcast, Aug. 14, includes House Judiciary Chair John Conyers who has already started an investigation under way which will lead to some kind of action. Conyer's stated the the Senate Intelligence Committee, headed by Jay Rockefeller, has the power to review classified documents to verify this.

POPSShould Conyers Impeach or Write Another Book About Bush's Crimes? Three years ago, Conyers' staffers on the Judiciary Committee produced a book about Bush and Cheney's impeachable offenses. Some of us helped them do it. After all, they were in the minority and couldn't do much more than write books. But now? In the majority? Now, should they be accepting that Congress no longer has subpoena power? Now, should they be accepting that Congress no longer has the power to legislate? Now, should they be accepting that Congress has no power of the purse? Now, should they be devoting tax dollars to the pointless vanity of doing what anyone else can do: writing yet another book on Bush and Cheney's latest impeachable offenses

POPSRove in Contempt You've got to wonder what this could mean for McCain's campaign . The last thing Baghdad Johnny needs is a very public example of how he's joined at the hip to the Bush admin. through McCain adviser Rove -- especially in the context of how crooked they all are.

POPSHouse Panel votes to cite Rove for contempt "His name has come up repeatedly in the hearings on this subject," said Judiciary Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich. "Yet he refuses to testify based on legally invalid claims of immunity privilege."

POPSImpeachment Hearings: A Win Is a Win
I go for the second interpretation of events. It is clear, as was beautifully laid out in an article published by Glenn Greenwald in Salon magazine on July 15, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the rest of the Democratic Party leadership both in Congress and in the party organization, have been blocking any action on impeachment for fear of having their own complicity in Bush’s and Cheney’s crimes revealed. As Greenwald notes, the Washington Post has reported that Pelosi, along with Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) and Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) were briefed on the administration’s use of torture and not only didn’t object, but actively encouraged it. Rockefeller and Harman, who at the time were minority leaders of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees at the time, were also briefed about Bush’s order to the National Security Agency to conduct warrantless spying on Americans. They didn’t object or publicly expose this blatant violation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance A

POPSWI Rep. Baldwin Calls for Impeachment Baldwin joins Florida's Robert Wexler in backing Ohio's Dennis Kucinich's push for impeachment on charges of exceeding "constitutional limitations" in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. It's not going to go anywhere, but it's not sure winners that are the only battles worth fighting.

POPSBush Impeachment Article to get Hearing "Committee chairman John Conyers of Michigan put it this way. Over the last seven plus years, there have been numerous credible allegations of serious misconduct by officials in the Bush administration. At the same time, the administration has adopted what many would describe as a radical view of its own powers and authorities. As chairman of the Judiciary Committee, I believe it is imperative that we pursue a comprehensive review commensurate to this constitutionally dangerous combination of circumstances. Next Friday's hearings will be an important part of that ongoing effort"

POPSimpeachment This should go ahead. We cannot have one country's leader being impeached by the International Court and another getting away with high crimes and misdemeanors.

POPSObama, Conyers epitomize Arrogance in Pants.
Thanks Joan for posting this...The Centrist thing of Obama's was inevitable, it seems, as he panders to the sheeple. WASHINGTON -- Former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove won't testify next week before a House committee investigating the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman, despite a threat of a contempt proceeding. Rove is exerting executive privilege and declined the invitation to appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, his attorney Robert Luskin wrote to the House panel Tuesday. A lawsuit is pending in federal court in Washington over whether top White House officials can be compelled to testify before Congress, he wrote. The Judiciary Committee has been seeking Rove's testimony since April, and committee Chairman Rep. John Con- yers, D-Mich., said in a response letter sent Thursday that he was "disappointed" with Rove's decision. It seems Conyers has lost his balls somewhere...won't Impeach, when it's the only thing to stop Cheney/Bush, and

POPSJudiciary Committee Willl Subpoena Atty. Gen. Mukasey It's about damn time they get off the dime to follow and prosecute the LAW they have all sworn to uphold. If Mukasey balks or won't testify under oath, that trick BushCo loves, they better arrest his sorry ass and let him sit for contempt until he does.

POPSHouse Sends Impeachment Resolution to Judiciary Committee I wouldn't get too excited if I were you. The piece goes on: The Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), already has before it articles of impeachment aimed at Vice President Dick Cheney. Since receiving that impeachment measure in November, the committee has done nothing. Democratic leaders in the House seem determined to block the latest impeachment measure as well, and it remains all-but-impossible that the House would proceed with impeachment hearings before Bush leaves office.

POPSMcClellan to Testify Before House Committe The piece goes on: The statements prompted House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., to invite McClellan to the hearing "concerning reported attempts to cover up the involvement of White House officials in the leak of" Plame's identity.
