POPSThe Democrat’s War on Oncologists and Cardiologists cardiology and 19% on radiation oncology. They’re targets only because of cost: Two-thirds of morbidity or mortality among Medicare patients owes to cancer or heart disease. … Cancer doctors get hit because the Administration believes specialists order too many MRIs and CT scans. Certain kinds of diagnostic imaging lose 24% under new assumptions that machines are in use 90% of the time, up from 50%. There isn’t a radiologist in America running an MRI 10.8 hours out of 12, unless he’s lining up patients on a conveyor belt. But claiming scanners are used far more often than they really are lets the Administration “score” spending cuts. It’s like doling out healthcare by mimicking progressive income taxation; tax the haves into oblivion so eventually all can go without. And this change is applied to all expensive equipment, not just MRIs and CTs, so payments for antitumor radiation therapy will fall by up to 44%.

POPSFarm Factory Food: Chicks being ground up alive. Hy-Line said the video "appears to show an inappropriate action and violation of our animal welfare policies," referring to chicks on the factory floor. But the company also noted that "instantaneous euthanasia" – a reference to killing of male chicks by the grinder – is a standard practice supported by the animal veterinary and scientific community. Story continues below According to Mercy for Animals, male chicks are of no use to the industry because they can't lay eggs and don't grow large or quickly enough to be raised profitably for meat. That results in the killing of 200 million male chicks a year. Hy-Line says on its Web site that its Iowa facility produces 33.4 million chicks. Based on that figure, Mercy for Animals estimates a similar number of male chicks are killed at the facility each year.

POPSShredding the clunkers Clunker FAIL - throws the poor under the bus. It artificially inflates the value of all used cars — owners will find themselves asking “do I want to try to sell this perfectly-good car for at least $5,000 to someone who needs it, or should I let it get destroyed for a $4,500 credit?” In essence, the bill will boost the minimum value of many used cars to $4,500 — out of the reach of many people in need of transportation. But that won’t matter. We’ll have gotten a bunch of “gas guzzlers” off the road, preventing them from consuming valuable resources and polluting our air. As for the poor… ? Why do I need to ask that question? Aren't the Democrats the party the best serves the needs of the common man, ya know, Joe Sixpack. Or the common man like Ben Affleck....I forget. When you put environmental concerns and other nonsense ahead of the hard-working American, I find it hard to believe the Democrats are serving the people that they say they so adequately represent.

POPS Be Afraid Bomb parts smuggled into 10 federal buildings during test In a videotape obtained by CNN, a covert GAO inspector places a bag containing bomb components on an X-ray machine conveyor belt and then walks through a magnetometer at an unidentified federal building. Unlike some covert tests that use simulated explosives, the GAO used actual bomb components in the test and publicly available information "to identify a type of device that a terrorist could use" to damage a building. Watch undercover agent smuggle bomb "The (improvised explosive device) was made up of two parts -- a liquid explosive and a low-yield detonator -- and included a variety of materials not typically brought into a federal facility by an employee or the public," the report says. Investigators obtained the components at local stores and over the Internet for less than $150, the report says. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/07/federal.buildings.security/index.html#cnnSTCVideo

POPSTape Recording Reveals Vile Rants Of British Mullah Now Choudary —who once called for the Pope to be executed and described the September 11 hijackers as "magnificent martyrs" — could face arrest under anti-terror laws for his evil ranting on the tape, which was passed to the News of the World. Terrorism expert and author Neil Doyle said: "There is no doubt whatever this a rallying cry to would-be British terrorists. "And this is the evidence from his own mouth. There's no doubt that the message he's preaching will eventually convince some impressionable people they should start planning 7/7-type atrocities. "He's certainly becoming the most high-profile cheerleader for al-Qaeda in the UK." When we spoke to Choudary he refused to discuss our recording but admitted he WAS on a recruitment drive. He ranted: "I would like to recruit enough to turn the whole country into an Islamic state within a month...by tomorrow. "You can put that down. I'm trying to recruit 5,000 a week."

POPSOur Trash Circles the Globe: Combating E-Waste in India The fruits of our high-tech revolution are pure poison if these products are improperly disposed of at the end of their useful life. The electronics industry is on the brink of a paradigm shift with respect to cost avoidance v/s risk avoidance. Firms such as Eco-Reco are taking advantage of a booming but hazardous industry, where e-waste is usually dismantled by workers with little protection in recycling plants that have even fewer safety and environmental contamination guidelines. In Mumbai, Eco-Reco will pick up your e-waste and at their plant, the e-waste then goes through a shredder on a conveyor belt, and the components are separated by a metal extractor. Workers then break up the plastic from the metal by hand. The entire system is based on the principles of clean environment and zero landfill.

POPSHorse-Powered Hybrid - Fleethorse Naturcar This has got to be the strangest concept I’ve ever seen! Fleethorse calls their new concept the Naturcar. The hybrid vehicle is literally powered by horses. As passengers sit in the front of the car, a horse is working its legs in the back on a conveyor belt. Electricity motors the belt to get the horse moving, from there on, it’s all horse power.

POPSHuman Caused Climate Change Most educated people know that global warming is a misnomer. There are parts of the world that will cool while warming happens elsewhere. The key is to keep the oceanic conveyor belt stable so our climate remains fairly constant.

POPSBBC UK: 5,000 Children Groomed for Prostitution "It happened every night. There were loads of men involved." Her voice cracks. "You couldn't keep count." It was like a conveyor belt, she recalls. A conveyor belt of men all expecting sex. She was only 14. Jane clearly remembers the sheer, terrifying numbers of men who would be brought to her bed at night. Jane has, to a certain extent, repaired her life - she has a job and her relationship with her parents remains strong. The long-term damage, however, is profound, and she suffers nightmares, flashbacks and depression. As she puts it: "I was just this innocent little girl who went from playing with her dolls to having sex with lots of different men." And unpalatable though it may be to confront, there are, even now, many other innocent little girls at risk of being forced into the same sickening transition.

POPSChanges in the Sun’s Surface to Bring Next Climate Change Unfortunately, because of the intensity of coverage of the UN IPCC and man made global warming during 2007, the full story about climate change is very slow in getting told. These changes in the sun have begun. They are unstoppable. With the word finally starting to get out about the next climate change, hopefully we will have time to prepare. Right now, the newly organized SSRC is the leading independent research center in the US and possibly worldwide, that is focused on the next climate change
