POPSConsumer Scans - Do your homework Also, there’s no trusting those those internet suffixes anymore. The .org, net, info, etc designation does NOT necessarily indicate non-profit status. Plenty of sites are misrepresenting themselves for fun and profit. Be careful out there

POPSPalin For Vice President: Palin on the Issues
SMALL BUSINESS – “As Mayor and CEO of the booming city of Wasilla, my team invited investment and encouraged business growth by eliminating small business inventory taxes, eliminated personal property taxes, reduced real property tax mill levies every year I was in office, reduced fees, and built the infrastructure our businesses needed to grow and prosper.” MILITARY - “I respect our military personnel and understand the importance of Alaska's National Guard. As I watched our military men and women being deployed I recognized how important it is for their families to know how much Alaska and America support them.” HEALTH CARE – “I support flexibility in government regulations that allow competition in health care that is needed, and is proven to be good for the consumer, which will drive down health care costs and reduce the need for government subsidies. I also support patients in their rightful demands to have access to full medical billing information.”

POPSWorld's Oceans: Is it too Late to Save Our Most Precious Resource? See site for more links and info The problem in the Pacific is so severe a humongous plastic-strewn patch floats between California and Hawaii within the North Pacific Gyre. According to the man who first discovered it in 1997, Captain John Moore, this patch is 1 ½ times the size of the contiguous United States and goes to a depth of at least 100 feet. And there is another huge rubbish patch off the coast of Japan. (View a YouTube video of Captain Moore visiting the Pacific garbage patch )

POPSRepublican Plan To Kill Off Government
View the chart on the right, notice in the past 30 years, how the Repubs have been pushing us down into a deep financial hole. Why? I can only come up with the conclusion that the red side of the aisle is out to kill off government, as we know it, altogether. Allowing them free reign to privatize EVERYTHING in the world which will allow their dreams of a World Global Market, in which they become the rulers of, to come true. The damn pesky Dems keep getting elected in interims and bring the NAT'L DEBT down to a manageable size. Just imagine if they had ruled straight through this 30 year period, their fantasies of total control would be actualized by now. I know this is a simple analogy of what the hell they are up to but maybe that's how they get away with what they are doing. Just act as though their plans are SO COMPLICATED, too difficult for the average American cretin to understand. Waddayathink? Lot's of info in this link: http://www.thethinkingblue.com/natldept.html

POPSBrain to Control Games Directly, Maybe Vice Versa More info at the source. I find this really, really cool. However, as much as I love video games, it seems like a waste. I can only imagine what they can do with this technology (aside from using it to help quadriplegics, as it explains in the article), and it just seems frivolous to use it for video games. What do you all think?

POPSCompanies working to pare down waste: greener packaging
Good news from Berry Plastics in Evansville, Indiana, and Wal-Mart. Berry Plastics says that redesigning packaging to reduce bulk is becoming such a trend that they have hired an engineer devoted to repackaging projects. And Wal-Mart plans to use info from their "packaging scorecard" to make decisions on purchasing merchandise, with the goal of creating "zero waste" by recycling, reusing or otherwise breaking down product waste. So the greening of Wal-Mart may provide the financial incentive for companies to reduce their packaging, as they compete with one another for either Wal-Mart's goodwill or for consumer acclaim in their own right. This is just what the environmental movement needs--a push from the consumer product companies and vendors to save money and help the environment at the same time, with plenty of media fanfare to promote their efforts and boost their images. Their bottom line matters most, of course, but now it is tied to benefiting the environment.
