POPSYellowstone's Greatest Threat: the Loss of Habitat to Development The world's first national park is concerned about the fate of wildlife in the park: Each year their habitat is slowing disappearing. Yellowstone gets millions of visitors each year, which makes preserving the park even more challenging. Achieving a balance between the ecosystem and the visitors is what was originally intended in creating the park. Congress told the rangers, 'You will conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wildlife in the parks, and you will manage them in such a manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for future generations'

POPS"national stay at home week"??? blecch is this like, a healthy sentiment? i mean, i saw a citi commercial that actually used the line "we are a nation of consumers." maybe it's cool to fully embrace the emptiness of modern american life? maybe that's what sells now? i don't know.

POPSTemporary Erectile Dysfunction Erectile dysfunction is often characterized as psychological if erection is possible sometimes. For instance, are you able to get an erection during your sleep? Are you unable to perform on some nights only? Thankfully the problem is both temporary and easy to fix, if action of some sort is taken. No need for surgery or other risky measures. It may be as simple as making sure you get a good night's sleep, a physiological and fairly common cause of ED. Men think that they should be able to perform all the time, at all times. It's just not possible. In this case it's your body's way of telling you to sleep and don't over exert yourself - to conserve your energy.

POPSEverything Dolphin The Endangered Species Act requires the US federal government to identify species threatened with extinction, identify habitat they need to survive, and help protect both. In doing so, the Act works to ensure the basic health of our natural ecosystems and protect the legacy of conservation we leave to our children and grandchildren.

POPSCO2, A Breath Of Fresh Air
CO2 is being labelled a pollutant but is it? Climate alarmism depends on catastrophe. In itself CO2 is a life giver. As a combination of Oxygen and Carbon it represents life itself. We are built from carbon as is every other life form and again like every other life form Oxygen is the fuel we must have to survive. How can the very elements that build us and fuel us and every other life form be a pollutant? The main case being made against our fossil fuel habit is that we are releasing carbon stored over millennia into the atmosphere in a relatively short period of time. Is that necessarily a bad thing in itself? We certainly need to conserve natural resources but the fact is that after several billion years of life on Earth the Earth’s crust is simply awash with carbon in one form or another. However, the demonisation of fossil fuels and CO2 before the globe has removed poverty and allowed less developed nations to share in worldwide prosperity is an obscenity.

POPSCan Recycling Be Used To Treat Cancer? The researchers discovered a compound, STF-62247, that was selectively toxic to RCCs deficient in VHL whereas cells with normal VHL were not affected. Treatment of RCC cells lacking functional VHL induced autophagy, a cellular recycling process that cells normally use to conserve resources during times of stress. "Increasing evidence implicates a role for autophagy in cancer, but it is not well understood how cellular and environmental cues drive autophagic cells down survival or death pathways," explains Dr. Giaccia. The researchers demonstrated that STF-62247 enhanced autophagy in VHL-deficient cells while inhibition of the autophagy pathway significantly increased the survival of VHL-deficient cells treated with STF-62247. "We have found a small molecule that selectively induces cell death in VHL-deficient cells, such as those that are found in kidney cancer. This represents a paradigm shift for targeted therapy," concludes Dr. Giaccia.

POPSPut A Stop To Cut-Rate Gas: International Monetary Fund Governments that try to create a false economy for oil are not revealing the truth to their people. About half of humanity, from India to Chile, now benefits from cut-rate petroleum prices. In 2008, these countries will account for all the growth in world oil demand, or an additional one million barrels a day, according to Deutsche Bank. Their consumption will be the highest in eight years. In China, oil demand is estimated to rise 5 to 10 percent this year, but the government has resisted calls to end price controls. A few other countries – Chile and South Korea – are now moving toward subsidies to appease political pressures. In Congress, bills to combat global warming would raise costs for oil users, even possibly adding a dollar to gasoline prices. But proposals by lawmakers to relieve those costs with subsidies to consumers would only defeat the purpose of reducing oil demand.

POPSRising Gas Prices and Non Existend Mass Trans Where were they all these years. Supporting big cars and trucks while the rest of the world began, creepy and slowly, to built a mass transit net. Miami, LA and many other cities are not equipped with anything like mass transit. Let alone the country side and suburbs etc. Missed the boat and the bus....
