POPSRepublicans Need to Dump the Neoconservatives The republicans need a "tea party" within their own camp! The Bush and present GOP "conservatives" are pushing big government Statism as much as Democrats, with only a different slant. Wars for democracy are a key element of both parties now. There is an insidious philosophy underlying this acceptance of the "natural" growth of statism. Neoconservative columnist David Brooks wrote ... we need "a vigorous One Nation Conservatism ... by making the nation great, individuals are able to join their narrow concerns to a larger national project." Actually, it was originally the Democrats that used to believe in curtailing the powers of the Federal government. (This was after the Civil War where they were called Dixie-crats). POPSNRCC, RNC & Gingrich Back Margaret Sanger Award Winner you might want to ask for your money back. As I mentioned in my column post on the NY23 special election, the NRCC is using conservatives’ money to back a radical leftist and attack a bona fide, viable conservative candidate for Congress in a safe Republican district. Gingrich has endorsed the radical leftist. Now comes word from CQ that the Republican National Committee has made a “six-figure transfer” of funds to the NRCC to support Scozzafava: In addition to Scozzafava’s radical leftist record that I outlined this morning, Scozzafava is the proud recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award from New York family planners. Yes, that Margaret Sanger.

POPSHow to avoid the GOP's mistakes during the Bush years? All one has to do is act like a citizen first, not a party apparatchik or fan club devotee, which means nothing more than this: (1) If Obama takes action or makes a decision that you think is good and constructive, say so and give him credit; (2) If Obama takes action or makes a decision that you think is bad, wrong and/or destructive, say so and criticize him for it; (3) If there were things you claimed to find so horrible and wrong when Bush did them (indefinite detention, denial of habeas corpus, renditions, state secrets, endless wars, military commissions, compulsive secrecy), and Obama does them, apply the same standards. As Bob Herbert put it rather simply: "Policies that were wrong under George W. Bush are no less wrong because Barack Obama is in the White House."

POPSWoman-led Conservatism And these women come under serious attack. Several years back came across a YouTube vid a stalker of Michelle Malkin and of course all of the smears against Governor Palin. However it seems to energize them rather than knocking them down.

POPSEvery Ideology is Right Originally clipped by a non-thinker. I thought I would re-clip to add insight and clarity. This statement is true. Every ideology IS right. There is nothing inherently evil in ANY ideology. It may be that the ideology I despise most..Fascsim..is the best political ideology there is, and I believe it may be. Here is the rub. You cannot take any ideology in a vacuum. The best ideology for the current state of humanity is the one which allows for the greatest expression of liberty. Since, the closest one that allows for this happens to exist under the framework of Jeffersonian Democracy in this Republican system of government.

POPSEvery ideology is right More: But you can't, because their ideology does correspond to some of their direct, lived reality. They're not just imagining it. And they'll fight hard against any attempt to tell them they haven't experienced what they've experienced. So instead of telling them they're wrong, you have to demonstrate that they're only seeing part of the picture. That's the theory, anyway. It seems to work as much as 2% of the time.

POPSNazi Jew Designed "Final Solution" Clipped some highlights but it really does need to be read in its entirety. It will give you a much clearer picture of the world we see today. Also it is worthwhile mentioning that Zionism and Sabbatean Frankism, do not represent the Jewish people, some are not even Jewish but instead come from all creeds and colours Research what it claims for yourself if you doubt it. If it should so move you to do so, post a counter clip debunking it. but as always be meticulous in your fact finding and presentation and always check what you cite. Of course though, you won't be able to.

POPSInteresting Critique Of Modern Radical Conservatism The entire article is several pages long and has some thought-provoking observations to make regarding the evolution of the American conservative movement and how it has "morphed" into what we are seeing today. BTW, notice the civil tone of the article.

POPSIBDeditorials.com (”Radicals Wrote Failed Stimulus”) But buck up, Joe. The GOP, by running candidates like Mark Kirk for US Senate in Illinois and Jon Husted for Secretary of State in Ohio (to name only a couple), continues to demonstrate that it is perfectly capable of selling out sensible conservatism for the illusory and passing feel-good moment. _________________________________________ From Erick at RedState " “A Review of ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis’s Rolodex Suggests Strong White House Ties”: RedState has seen a list of Bertha Lewis’s contacts. We did not seek it out. It just showed up one day unsolicited. We did not ask for it. We did not expect to get it. But now that we have it, we should see who is in there. The President can say “I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money,” but a review of Ms. Lewis’s contacts list suggests that is not the case. What a non-surprise. But having the goods is quite helpful. _________________________________________

POPS Irving Kristol Irving Kristol, 1920-2009: Godfather of Neoconservatism (Read WP posts from Donald Douglas) | (Read MT posts from Donald Douglas) The Astute Bloggers graciously provides the New York Times link, “Irving Kristol, Godfather of Modern Conservatism, Dies at 89.” Also, my good friend Ken Davenport has written his own thoughtful commemoration, “Irving Kristol, 1920-2009.” Ken focuses on how Kristol’s neoconservatism has become the most important critique of modern statist ideologies (and of especially the consequences of post-1960s Democratic Party social policy). There’s lots of commentary at Memeorandum. See Jules Crittenden, GayPatriot, Power Line, The Other McCain, and Outside The Beltway. See especially John Podoretz’s obituary at Commentary, and Robert Kagan at the Washington Post. And Myron Magnet, at City Journal, shares a personal anecdote about Kristol’s compassion: Read more >>> http://www.memeorandum.com/090918/p115#a090918p115

POPSDutch cannabis coffee shops ban tourists In another unintended consequence, several border towns complain of the burdens associated with a weekly influx of tens of thousands of tourists, mainly Belgian, French and German. Among recent steps taken to deal with these problems, Amsterdam has said it would halve its number of coffee shops, citing criminality, while other cities are to close those within a certain radius of schools.

POPSOnly the Rightwing Nutbars... ...would call trying to attain the moral high-ground and making amends for the evil America has done "The World Upside-Down". It tells you something about how seriously screwed up in the head the Rightwingers are. Anyone who still doubts that conservatism is a mental illness just needs to observe the comics of dangerously deranged cartoonists such as Michael Ramirez, Henry Payne and Chip Bok. Those kinds of attitudes are dangerous to America, and the world.

POPSPolite Obituaries? Not So Much for Jesse Helms Last Year The Washington Post stressed Helms “rode his divisiveness to victory.” The New York Times obituary threw punches, describing him as the senator “whose courtly manner and mossy drawl barely masked a hard-edged conservatism that opposed civil rights, gay rights, foreign aid and modern art.” The networks were no better. NBC’s Lester Holt blatantly copied the Times: “He staked out firm positions against everything from communism and foreign aid to civil rights and modern art.” let's recall how Helms was eulogized on the Ed Schultz radio show last year. Fill-in host Norman Goldman said this: "That race-baiting, racist, horrible Jesse Helms ad got him ahead of Harvey Gantt and got him reelected in 1990. Harvey Gantt would have made a much better senator and Jesse Helms shamelessly played the race card. He was a miserable rat. The world's a better place without him. I hope he's down there in hell roasting with Jerry Falwell."

POPSMore Theocratic Lunacy For all you American Christians that cling to your notion of a Christian Nation, perhaps you should look to other countries that actually have a theocracy. Doesn't look as appealing as you thought, does it?

POPSAndrew Sullivan: Where this far-right rage is coming from More: If that is what you really believe - that people in cities or suburbs, that minorities, that gays, that blacks and Hispanics are not part of "real America" - then of course, you are angry. You believe a fake America has taken over. You cannot understand this. So you start believing that we have a fascist/communist dictatorship, that there was some fraud allowing a non-citizen to become president, that the government is about to "take over" all healthcare provision ... and on and on. And no one is left in the GOP to challenge this, to calm it down, to present practical alternatives to the obvious crushing problems the country and the private sector have in paying for increasingly costly healthcare.

POPSBy modern conservative standards, Winston Churchill was a Bolshevik
More: As a lifelong conservative with a strong dedication to enterprise and merit (and a host of less admirable right-wing prejudices), Churchill would have bristled at anyone who dared to describe him as a socialist. Why then did he promote and protect the NHS? Partly out of political expediency, no doubt, but also because he felt an ethical obligation that seems not to trouble the contemporary conservatives who profess to admire him.… Whatever the marvels and defects of the NHS may be – and most experts agree that it does a superb job despite inadequate funding -- its importance for the debate over American health care reform may be moral rather than practical. Imagine what kind of country we would inhabit if those who claim to represent conservatism in America possessed even a small measure of the human compassion and political decency of Churchill at his best. It is a standard that they do not even attempt to achieve these days.
