POPSNew treatment for plantar fasciitis (heel pain) When your first few steps out of bed in the morning cause severe pain in the heel of your foot, you may have plantar fasciitis .. an overuse injury affecting the sole of the foot. A diagnosis of plantar fasciitis means you have inflamed the tough, fibrous band of tissue (fascia) connecting your heel bone to the base of your toes. If you don't treat plantar fasciitis, it may become a chronic condition. You may not be able to keep up your level of activity and you may also develop symptoms of foot, knee, hip and back problems because of the way plantar fasciitis changes the way you walk.

Along with selecting the $5,000 grand prize winner, judges awarded cash and other prizes for the first- and second-place winners in every category in each of two divisions, amateur and professional. POPSThe return of The Wall? Time will tell, but this certainly does not look like "change" and gives me no "hope". This is just the same ol' same ol'...just older. We've been hearing for the last 8 yrs. about the failed policies of the Bush Administration; well, what about the failed policies of the Clinton one? Does America want them back to pick up where they left off....with HELP? If this is someone's idea of "change" they need to check their dictionaries.

POPSMOT ; Museum of Tomorrow Wang described the museum as a "mobile museum." After 134 days at the current venue, the museum will likely change location and exhibition method. However, the concept and principle will remain unchanged. "This is why we have a gigantic countdown clock ticking away on the translucent white wall of the entranceway."

POPSPlato on Global Warming What is knowledge? A basic philosophical definition is - believing what is true and having sufficient reasons for it. This reveals 3 essential features of the essence of knowledge: belief, justification, and truth. Most proponents of man-made global warming are certainly not lacking belief. I see the problem arising when they have weak justification, thus erroneously connecting belief to truth and labeling it knowledge.

Because of the study's small size -- the researchers tested just ten synesthetes, though in a sense the number is incredible, as only one such case was previously documented -- the findings are primarily important in terms of physiology. Mirror system activity was observed in the lone earlier synesthete, and the current findings back up the association between the feelings and the system: if the same system was responsible for the sensation, it would ostensibly be difficult to distinguish between real and mirror touches. The researchers also noted that mirror synesthetes had higher levels of empathy than a control group in the study, though connecting such findings to a general empathic mechanism requires, at this stage in the research, a leap of faith. But it's probably not too soon to say, as one of the study's authors did, that "This may be an exaggeration of a brain mechanism that we all possess to some degree."

Who Wrote Dreams From My Father? By Jack Cashill Prior to 1990, when Barack Obama contracted to write Dreams From My Father, he had written very close to nothing. Then, five years later, this untested 33 year-old produced what Time Magazine has called -- with a straight face -- "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician." Tracing Obama's literary ascent is complicated by what Politico.com calls a "scant paper trail." That trail begins at Occidental College whose literary magazine published two of Obama's poems -- "Pop" and "Underground" -- in 1981. Obama calls it some "very bad poetry." . As the New York Times gushed, Obama was "that rare politician who can write . . . and write movingly and genuinely about himself." These accolades matter all the more because Obama has built his political persona around his presumably superior intellect, Dreams being exhibit A. http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/who_wrote_dreams_from_my_fathe_1.html

POPSConnecting Informal and Formal Learning Experiences in the Age of Participatory Media The renaissance stimulated by the World Wide Web is generating multiple formats and channels of communication and creativity. These include blogs, wikis, instant messaging, and texting in the realm of writing, podcasting in audio, countless sites such as Flickr for distribution and sharing of images, and video shared via YouTube and other sites. The Pew Internet and American Life project reports that the majority of all teens are now engaged in active creation of online content. The rise of social media reflects new opportunities and outlets for creativity.
