POPSLawsuits Stop Offshore Drilling I hate environmentalist they have destroyed are economy. They have to much power we have to go to war against them. There is no doubt we will be paying $5.00 or more a gallon. Is there any group or groups to join to fight them.

POPSChicken a la Detroit The White House and congressional Democrats seem to be playing chicken over a bailout for the auto industry. The WH wants to cut some of the strings on $25 billion in loans that can go to the Big Three fairly quickly. Dems say the WH has the power to give the auto industry a portion of its $700 billion TARP funds immediately. The unknown variable: will a bankruptcy filing by any of Detroit's Big 3 tip the recession into an even deeper downturn? Is that a risk the government should take right now? Do you think Washington should give Detroit a lifeline? Post your comments below.

POPSSenate Leadership Forgives Lieberman "It's a resolution of reconciliation and not retribution...I appreciate it," Joementum is reported as saying. For those of you keeping track of these sorts of things, the Democratic congressional leadership has established that nothing you do, no matter how shitty and disloyal, will get you kicked out of the party. From the same leadership who established the principle that there's no such thing as an impeachable offense, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Seems bass-ackward to me, though -- he loses the seat where he was doing good work and keeps the position where he can do the most harm. This stands a good chance of biting us all in the ass down the road.

POPSHurrah for the Millennials! When it comes to policy, Millennials are liberal interventionists on economic issues, active multilateralists in foreign affairs and tolerant non-meddlers on social issues-a profile that most closely matches the Democratic Party's platform as well as the new President's agenda. Their propensity to vote straight Democratic was clearly evident in 2008 when young voters supported Democratic congressional candidates by about the same margin that they did Obama (63% vs. 34%).

POPS Voter Turnout Didn't Set Record
Democrats' passion wasn't matched by GOP When the official counts are in, Gans said, the final tally may approach 129 million, which would be almost 62 percent of eligible voters, up from 60.6 percent four years ago but below the 1964 turnout rate of 64 percent of eligible voters under Gans's formula. In counts posted as of late yesterday, Obama led McCain 67 million votes to 58.5 million, with 1.7 million votes cast for minor party candidates and write-ins. That is a popular-vote margin of about 6.7 percentage points. Other factors, including down-ballot contests for congressional seats, state offices, and statewide ballot questions also might have affected turnout in some states. While some states trumpeted high turnout figures based on the number of registered voters, neither Gans nor McDonald use voter registration figures as the basis for determining eligible voters because the quality and maintenance of current voter lists varies greatly from state to state.

POPSObama's 'Change' and Rahm-bo: Neo-conned Again? This article, if read, will burst the bubble of belief by Obama cheerleaders. (Did Pelosi or a Dem Congress change anything either?) Roberts does not spare Obama any more than he did Bush: War policy: In “Hail to the Chief of Staff,” Alexander Cockburn describes Emanuel as “a super-Likudnik hawk,” who as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2006 “made great efforts to knock out antiwar Democratic candidates.” The neoconservatives were and are intimately tied to the Israeli Likud Party with its militant Zionist war agenda for a "new middle east". On Economy: Obama’s advisers are drawn from the same gang of Washington thugs and Wall Street banksters as Bush’s. Consider Obama's support of Lieberman then too, who supported McCain and is another "super-Likudnik hawk" when it comes to Israel and war policy. Get the picture yet? Some very important policies (primary ones) will not "change" at a

POPSObama's Pick for Chief of Staff. . . . . .
. . . . . .Tops Recipients of Wall Street Money . . . . . Emanuel, who is currently the No. 4 Democrat in the House, has also collected $136,640 from the lobbying industry during his career, making K Street his 13th most generous industry. Since being elected to the House six years ago, he has collected $1.5 million from the investment industry , with lawyers and law firms and the entertainment industry coming in at a distant second and third place ($682,900 and $376,100). As a member of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee--which has jurisdiction over tax legislation, Social Security, Medicare and other entitlement programs--Emanuel is a popular industry target. Private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners has given Emanuel more than any other contributor over his career at $93,600. Emanuel and Obama have more than just Chicago in common; investment bank UBS, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley are among both men's lists of top donors .

POPS Obama vs. Pelosi Barack Obama obviously has thought carefully about mistakes made by previous Democratic presidential winners who wrongly believed a Congress controlled by their own party would help make them a success. That may be one reason why Mr. Obama has chosen Rahm Emanuel, a respected member of the Congressional leadership, to become his new White House Chief of Staff. Mr. Emanuel has a reputation as a tough partisan, but he has also exhibited impatience with left-wing members of his party who have overly ambitious ideological agendas. To the extent Mr. Obama becomes a successful president, it will be because he remains his own man and trusts the brilliant political instincts that have gotten him this far, this fast.

POPSWhat will the Obama's First Actions Be?
I love the first pic. on this page (wouldn't clip) What will the Obama White House Be Like? IMO (and some others) Very, very slow and careful; methodical General Petraeus has already been order to start withdrawing troops from Iraq. (in Obama's Victory Speech) All parties will be included in the Administration and others, these folks will be given orders to accomplish things. His brass knuckles just announced Chief of Staff (Ron Emanuel) will frequently go over to the Democratic Congress and beat their brains out and kick their ass until they do what Obama wants. With Democrats having a majority in both Houses legislation will quickly pass and there will be no filibusters because Obama will get 8 or 9 Republicans to go along with him. Pakistan will either kill or deliver bin Laden or agree to let a strike team of Special Forces in to get him ourselves; or we will go in whether Pakistan likes it or not. A massive program for alternative energy will begin.

POPSAfter the election - the USSA The only thing I will enjoy, in a perverse sort of way, should Obama be elected, is the upheaval and suffering Americans will face, including all the fools who voted in a socialist government. The blacks and minorities have been sold a bill of goods that their lives will be better. In fact, there will be less jobs, less opportunity, less wealth, more war, and deeper economic turmoil. When I see the same blacks and hispanics in the bread lines who voted for the obamanation, I will chuckle.

POPSAre 401K's Safe From Congressional Democrats? . . . .considerably less than the $250,000 Barack Obama has said would be his tax-hike cutoff. In addition, workers would be able to pass on only half of their account balances to their heirs; presumably the government would seize the remaining half. (Under current law, 401(k) balances are fully heritable, although they are subject to the income tax.)

POPSObama Plans to Seize Your 401(k) Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) said recently that Democrats had better ideas for the $80 billion that Americans contribute to their 401(k) plans each year. "We have to start thinking about whether or not we want to continue to invest that $80 billion for a policy that's not doing what we say it should." Sen. Obama would likely sign on to the plan as president. Obama, McDermott, and Congressional Democrats miss the point that under current law, Americans have control over their retirement savings, where and how it is invested, and when and how much they contribute. The idea to nationalize retirement savings is another example of Democrats' socialist proclivities. They want control of Americans' retirement to reside in Washington DC, not on Main St., all in the name of "retirement security."

POPS11 Days Away: McCain Campaign Collapsing
Obama is still going around busting his butt to tell everybody to bust their butt harder than they've ever worked before. Smart guy. With early voting now going on in some states he and Hilary and Biden and specifically telling folks at his massive rallies: "Leave here, go to your election centers, Vote Right Now!" But it couldn't look much worse for McCain. Besides the facts and figures of his falling popularity and growing lead: lead in the national pols growing, lead in the critical 'battleground states,' growing -- besides these numbers you can see the Defeat in his face and in the faces of those who talk for him. You can hear more excuses coming out of his campaign headquarters about why it was so hard for them and they are not doing well (excuses that are as pathetic as their campaign). We hear more Republicans actually switching sides and giving Obama endorsements. (like Colin Powell.) Stunned negative media is shutting up. The idea of Obama as president sinki

POPSBachmann raises $400k for Opponent after calling Obama anti-American
"I can absolutely confirm that we have had in the last 24 hours donations from hundreds and hundreds of people from all over the country," said Tinklenberg campaign manager Anna Richey. "It's coming in so fast I can't get a hold on it and can't give a precise number. It's still coming in." At minimum, she said, $150,000 has so far been donated and she expects the total, which the campaign will release later today, to be far higher. "It's overwhelming," said Richey. "I've gotten 600 e-mail messages into our info e-mail account in the last 12 hours. People are outraged." She said a number of the e-mails decried Bachmann's call for the investigation as modern-day McCarthyism. "People shared personal stories of how their parents were discriminated against" during that time, said Richey. The messaes, she said, came from "Republicans, Democrats, people who professed to be out of work and struggling economically but wanted to give what they could."
