POPSA tribute to Original Kasper's - history, in hot dogs
More (emphasis mine): Hosted by the Site Memory Collective…from John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, “Kasper’s Stories” is a part of the group’s commitment to “exploring the changing urban landscape as seen through individual and community memories of public spaces.” In the case of Kasper’s, it’s a study of one place’s impact on its residents–both when it’s there and after it disappears. “You don’t analyze how important something like this is until it’s gone,” said Kim Campisano, one of the organizers. “And you don’t realize how important it is to have that everyday connection with the same place and people in what is a vastly changing world.” …Yaglijian, smiling and mingling for two hours, said he wanted to reopen the place . “It’s time,” he said, confident that he can get the money. “I’ve kept saying that without giving the exact year for the last few years. But this time it’ll be ready again by the end of this year or early next .” YES PLEASE

POPSHYPOCRITICAL SCAM ARTISTS Approximately 140 aircraft carrying world leaders, heads of state and VIPs will land in Copenhagen, the U.N. estimates — although 95 percent of departures from Copenhagen Airport will be “green departures,” which allow airplanes to climb continuously to their optimal operating level, enabling them to reach planned routes sooner than usual. The result, according to the U.N., is saved time, fuel and carbon emissions. But Michaels wonders why attendees, particularly those in Europe, can't ride the rails into Copenhagen. “That’s the way I get to New York,” Michaels said. “There’s nothing new here. There’s always been a lot of hypocrisy amongst the climate change political community. "Prince Charles goes around the world in a private jet, telling everyone else they need to ration their carbon dioxide. Please.”

POPSWas Democrats’ Health Care Strategy Written In Federal Prison?
He also founded its predecessor, Illinois Public Action, in which Ms. Schakowsky served as Program Director. He runs a political consulting firm, the Strategic Consulting Group, which lists ACORN and the SEIU among its clients and which made $541,000 working for disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. Creamer resigned from Citizen Action/Illinois after the FBI began investigating him for bank fraud and tax evasion at Illinois Public Action. He was convicted in 2006 and sentenced to five months in federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, plus eleven months of house arrest. While in prison"or “forced sabbatical,” he called it"Creamer wrote a lengthy political manual, Listen to Your Mother: Stand Up Straight! How Progressives Can Win (Seven Locks Press, 2007). The book was endorsed by leading Democrats and their allies, including SEIU boss Andy Stern"the most frequent visitor thus far to the Obama White House"and chief Obama strategist David Axelrod, who noted

POPSWhite House Using NEA To Propagandize Obama's Initiatives It is time for us as a group of artists, producers, promoters, organizers, influencers, marketers, tastemakers, leaders or just plain, cool people to join together...and celebrate how the arts can be used for a positive change! I'm not sure whether the NEA has ever retracted its false claim that it didn't organize the call, but it announced that it was reassigning Sergant--to what, we don't know--and the affair seemingly came to an end, although Patrick Courrielche has continued to post new information at Big Hollywood. You've probably never heard of the White House Office of Public Engagement. It is the former Office of Public Liaison, renamed by the Obama administration. Its stated mission is: Serving as the front door to the White House, OPE will allow ordinary Americans to offer their stories and ideas regarding issues that concern them and share their views on important topics such as health care, energy and education.

POPSCongress Are You Listening? Stop Giving ACORN Our Money!
of all accusations with facts backing up the statements. From the opening summary: “Since 1994, more than $53 million in federal funds have been pumped into ACORN, and under the Obama administration, ACORN stands to receive a whopping $8.5 billion in available stimulus funds. Operationally, ACORN is a shell game played in 120 cities, 43 states and the District of Columbia through a complex structure designed to conceal illegal activities, to use taxpayer and tax-exempt dollars for partisan political purposes, and to distract investigators. Structurally, ACORN is a chess game in which senior management is shielded from accountability by multiple layers of volunteers and compensated employees who serve as pawns to take the fall for every bad act.” This is not the first time ACORN has been investigated. The Consumers Rights League, a non-partisan organization, did an extensive in-depth investigation into ACORN Housing and their mortgage practices in 2008 which they . . .

POPSCensus Bureau Severs Ties With ACORN The firings came less than 24 hours after another pair of ACORN officials from the group's Baltimore office were canned for instructing the "pimp" and "prostitute" how to falsify tax forms and seek illegal benefits for 13 "very young" girls from El Salvador that pair said they wanted to import to work as child prostitutes. Both of the encounters were videotaped on a hidden camera wielded by 25-year-old independent filmmaker James O'Keefe, posing as the pimp " tapes that have ignited calls for investigations of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The group's leaders said Friday they were "appalled and angry" at what their staffers had done, but insisted the videos were part of a representative of the institution as a whole. "But that does not excuse the behavior of the employees," wrote ACORN's president Alton Bennet and executive director Mike Shea.

POPS Obama Acorn Speech 2007-12-01 At his 2007 meeting with ACORN, Obama promised to meet with them even before his inauguration so they could help him shape the agenda! Obama speaking before a group of Acorn community organizers on December 1, 2007. Didn't Obama say he had no connection to them other than a little legal work? Then why the promises?

POPS ObamaCare's ‘Fat Police’ The voice of common sense, other than Hoenig, came from Wayne Rogers, whose problem centered around the money allocated to the likes of ACORN without any specified powers. It will be part of Our Lord and Savior’s civilian national security force, or Obama’s brownshirt brigade and Hitler youth.

POPS The Alinsky Administration Some liberals have been stunned by the serial about-faces on extraordinary rendition, indefinite detention without trial, military-tribunal trials, the state-secrets doctrine, and other policies they associate with the Bush administration. Former supporters of Obama, including David Brooks, Christopher Buckley, Jim Cramer, and Warren Buffett, have expressed varying degrees of criticism of his early moves, surprised that he is more hostile to the free market than they had thought. One of Alinsky’s first lessons is: “Radicals must have a degree of control over the flow of events.” Setting aside the Right’s habitual complaint about the pliant liberal media, Obama has dominated the news by unveiling a new initiative or giving a major speech on almost every weekday of his presidency. The constant parade of events large and small ensures that whenever unpleasant news arises and overtakes the desired message —

POPSNancy and the Astroturfers Their signs indicate that they are well aware that they have been vilified and targeted in an Oval Office astroturfing campaign designed to discredit their opposition. These protesters told me that they pay their own way and question what the government is attempting to do to their health care. Commonly at the tea parties and anti-big government protests hammers and sickles are used to protest democrat policies. The Democrat Party doesn’t seem to have a problem with wall to wall hammers and sickles and has never complained publicly. Maybe they think it’s a compliment? I find that interesting and very telling. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says this is all “manufactured anger” because the protesters " he calls them the “Brooks Brothers Brigade” " are too tastefully appointed to be authentic protesters. “The DNC has put out an ad claiming that the ‘right-wing extremist base” is out to “destroy” Barack Obama, so it has unleashed “angry mobs . . .

POPSCitizen Informant Our forebears sacrificed so much to pass on the blessings of liberty. The least that we can do in the shadow of those heroes is to exercise our right to speak, and to do so out loud, not in whispers fearing that someone will forward our thoughts to the Watchers. These intimidating tactics must end.

POPSThe End Game of the Left Part II just as well-funded (as the military)" doesn't scare you, does it? Read the following transcript from the testimony of Larry Grathwohl, an FBI informant who infiltrated a 1970 meeting conducted by Obama's close friend (and probable ghost-writer) William Ayers and included the leadership of the socialist Weather Underground. I brought up the subject of what's going to happen after we take over the government. You know, we become responsible for administrating, you know, 250 million people. And there was no answer. No one had given any thought to economics. How are you going to clothe and feed these people? The only thing that I could get was that they expected that the Cubans, the North Vietnamese, the Chinese and the Russians would all want to occupy different portions of the United States. They also believed that their immediate responsibility would be to protect against what they called the counter-revolution.

POPSACORN Report Exposes Corruption and Election Fraud And yet there will still be those who will say that this is some sort of Political Witchunt. And yet Republican party members have been pursued relentlessly when less evidence was at hand. Can anyone say Sarah Palin or Joe the Plumber?

POPSUnions gave ACORN nearly $10 million The bulk of the donations came from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contributed $7.4 million between 2005 and 2008 to the national organization, state chapters and allied groups. SEIU’s single largest donation of $1.5 million went to the ACORN Community Labor Organizing Center (ACLOC) in 2006. SEIU also made a $1.3 million donation to ACORN International in 2005. The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), the Longshore and Warehouse Union, the Communication Workers of America (CWA), and the National Education Association (NEA) were other top contributors. SEIU Locals 100 and 880 were listed as allied organizations on ACORN’s web site until The Examiner highlighted this connection. Why would unions pay 10 million dollars to a group of community organizers?

POPSACORN’s “Muscle for Money” does the bidding of SEIU
Muscle for Money includes multiple techniques for creating highly aggressive, organized efforts both to pressure businesses and officials to support the activists’ agenda or to discredit and intimidate opponents of their agenda, according to present and former ACORN members. SEIU has funded Muscle for Money activities in the past and continues to finance corporate shakedown efforts across the country as part of this program. SEIU locals 100 and 880 have been identified as allied organizations on ACORN’s web site. That information has since been removed from the ACORN web site, but U.S. Department of Labor LM-2 financial disclosure forms show over $600,000 in transactions between these same locals and ACORN operations in recent years. Muscle for Money has generated significant opposition within ACORN. “I don’t mind being up on a soapbox to get someone’s attention but I would much rather talk and negotiate, said Karen Inman, a Minnesota resident and former ACORN nationa

POPSACORN changes name We have an administration in the WH and a Democrat controlled congress who on the surface appear to be involved up to their necks in apparent criminal behavior that goes beyond just ACORN. We have absolutely no hope of any oversight or justice from this WH or Congress. We can not rely on Attorney General Holder to actually do his job. We can not expect a congress that shows only contempt toward its citizens to demand an independent investigation. When wolves control the hen house do not expect fried chicken on Sunday!

POPS Friday Potpourri And now the latest money-making scheme from the left-wing press: The Washington Post is selling access to administration officials and reporters for $25,000 to $250,000. At one time, this sort of thing would be considered unethical, but under Obama-Pelosi-Reid, selling access to government officials is just more deep-dish Chicago Style government. Life imitates South Park: A woman in Florida is attacked by a woodland critter. We could have warned her, woodland critters are dangerous… "I never expected a woodland creature"

POPSBarney Frank: Let’s Spend TARP Profits Before Taxpayers Can Get Them
the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act” and apply it to a trust fund that Frank has long wanted to create for low-income rental housing. (The measure, unfunded, was part of last year’s bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.) Next, Frank would take $1.5 billion from TARP dividends for a so-called “neighborhood stabilization” fund. Republican critics have charged that both measures might allow federal dollars to be distributed to activist groups like the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, or ACORN. Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch recently complained that TARP funds are “now being used as a go-to solution to address all of our nation’s economic ills.” Hatch and Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln recently introduced a bill that would require that TARP money goes back to the Treasury for debt reduction. Spending the dividend payments now, as Frank proposes, would reduce the chance that TARP might ever be a break-even deal for the taxpayers.

POPSHow a Community Organizer Became President
he planned to achieve that through creating public discontent and moral confusion. His goal was not to arrive at compromise or peaceful solution; his goal was to crush the Haves and transform society. Alinsky developed concepts to achieve power through mass organization. Organizing was his word for revolution. His 1946 book, Reville for Radicals, had already made clear that he wanted to move the United States from capitalism to socialism, where the means of production would be owned by all the people (i.e., the government). A believer in economic determinism, he viewed unemployment, disease, crime and bigotry as byproducts of capitalism. So he called for massive change. To achieve this, he sought local community organizers who projected confidence, vision and change. Barack Obama fit the profile. Alinsky didn't want just talkers; he wanted radicals who were prepared to take bold action to organize the discontented, precipitate crises, grab power, and thereby transform society. He
