POPSWhat I Believe We believe obedience is a fine quality in dogs and young children, but not in adults. Like America's right-wingers, we believe in individual responsibility, hard work to get ahead, and stern punishment for serious crimes. We believe big government should not be blindly trusted. But unlike most right-wing leaders, we mean it. Like America's left-wingers, we believe in equal treatment under law, war as a last (not first) resort, and sensible stewardship of natural resources. We believe big business should not be blindly trusted. But unlike most left-wing leaders, we mean it. Like libertarians, we believe it's wrong and reprehensible to arrest people for what they think, believe, look like, wear, eat, smoke, drink, inhale, inject, or otherwise do to themselves. But unlike many libertarians, we're not obsessed with the gold standard, we don't believe incorporation is humanity's highest achievement, and we don't believe everything in life comes down to dollars and cents

POPSPolitburo Mulls Airbrushing Reagan The White House blog exults about the triumphs of social engineering through energy policy. It’s got a quaint Soviet Realist, five-year planny kind of feel to it. Meanwhile, Jammie Wearing Fool suggests the Dems quit pussyfooting around and just name it after Obama. Red State: “But citizen, it has always been known as Obama National Airport.” G’day Instapundit, etal, always good to see you. You know about Obama’s Whiskey Tango Foxtrot strategy, right? That’s the one where commanders in the field say, “We need more troops,” and POTUS says “WTF?” … We’re also mulling whether the time is right to Whack Now, plus Rule Of Law By Military Coup. And please feel free to browse around Crittenden’s Right-Wing Warmonger Bookshop and General Store.

POPSGoogle's Secret "Carbon Footprint" & Energy Consumption Google is secretive about its energy consumption and carbon footprint. It also refuses to divulge the locations of its data centres. However, with more than 200m internet searches estimated globally daily, the electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions caused by computers and the internet is provoking concern. A recent report by Gartner, the industry analysts, said the global IT industry generated as much greenhouse gas as the world’s airlines - about 2% of global CO2 emissions. “Data centres are among the most energy-intensive facilities imaginable,” said Evan Mills, a scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California. Banks of servers storing billions of web pages require power. The ramifications of this are pretty profound for the rest of us, as well. No longer does anyone have to wear a fur hat or eat at McDonalds or drive a V8 to tick off the handwringing concernalists.

POPSBeijing Vice-Mayor Gets Death Sentence China knows how to nip corruption in the bud. Death. Keeps everyone honest for a few years. Good news and bad news in this story. Good news is one less commie. Bad news is Obama is a Commie to take his place. Did you read about Michelle ordering up Dom champagne, lobster and Iranian caviar at her hotel? Yeah, right, these commies are looking out for you, Middle Class. In truth, these elitists feel far above you.

POPSOuyangwulong's New Travel Plans Hi y'all! I still love you guys, even if I haven't been clipping as much as I'd like to of late. While the Commies may be keeping me away from the Pakistani border, as originally planned, I've just come upon the lovely opportunity to travel to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. That means I'll be putting my feet up in a houseboat on Lake Dal, fishing in high mountain valleys, and all this without having to give up my hobby of hanging out with Islamic terrorists. I guess sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too! If anyone here is in Srinigar next month, let me know and I'll buy you a cup of tea!

POPSFlag Pin Festish The flag fetish strikes me as a case of Protesting Too Much. If you’re confident in your possession of something, you don’t have to wear it on your sleeve, your gable, your bumper, or your T-shirt. In fact, the latter used to be considered disrespectful, a kind of desecration. Americans live surrounded by other Americans; there’s no need for a show of defiance. We’re not like the English and the French, who fought one another for centuries, still have cultural misunderstandings, and can see each other’s countries on a clear day. So why this bravado, even insecurity, which I think must lie beneath gratuitious, context-free displays of patriotic devotion

POPSCreative Commies, Gates and Marx
An interesting illustration, addressing Bill Gates' statement that copyright reformers are today's communists... well Bill, to explain it in the words of Karl Marx: "In the social production of their life, men enter into definite relations that are indispensable and independent of their will, relations of production which correspond to a definite stage of development of their material productive forces. The sum total of these relations of production constitutes the economic structure of society, the real foundation, on which rises a legal and political superstructure and to which correspond definite forms of social consciousness. The mode of production of material life conditions the social, political and intellectual life process in general. It is not the consciousness of men that determines their being, but, on the contrary, their social being that determines their consciousness. At a certain stage of their development, the material productive forces of society come in confl

POPSyeah...there are no commies in Korea... I have a reader at my blog who might be interested in this...lol...considering the heated debated about communists in Korea. It just seems strange to me that the communist fist that those captive were holding in the air - which seemed like the obvious sign of the labour - socialist groups - and even the Black Panthers - went unnoticed and unrecognized by people. Waddya know, there are "peace" activists even in Korea. And just like when Code Pink is standing alongside Cindy Sheehan or represented very visibly behind Valerie Plame when she was testilying before Congress...the media doesn't bother to identify who these people are. SHOCK.
