POPSConservatives plan future with Palin She's not going away. The republican party has to be pretty desperate to hang on to her as their best hope for a future run at the presidency. Despite all of her short-comings as a viable candidate they tout her 'attractiveness' and 'ability to give a great speech' as selling points. These are very shallow foundations to hedge your bet on. Personally, I don't see it.

POPSFew Cared And I am not one who did. There is no doubt in my mind that OJ was not only a killer in the first trial, but a thug in the next. Justice has a way of dispersing itself to those who think they are above the law.

POPSEducational Fads This document deconstructs a long list of educational trends that we have heard at least once before. It prepares you and gives you some defense not to get sucked into another of its kind in the future.

POPSWhat is the right to privacy, after all? The question now is this: what is the right to privacy? It's certainly not practical. Most of the time we voluntarily surrender it. But even more deeply, I get the feeling we don't really know what we are protecting. I mean, what is privacy anyway? Why do we find it so valuable? Is it just my right to keep secret what kind of porn is on my computer? (Oh, and you know you want to know!) Is there something deeper, more meaningful to this concept? It seems that privacy is an instinct. I admit, I feel it too. But why? Where does it come from? And why are some things private while other things aren't? Why cling to it, even when it places us in danger?

POPSDad in Albany My Dad (a pastor from New York) got invited to give a devotional at a legislative prayer breakfast in Albany. He then gave the invocation for the beginning of the State Senate session. The picture shows Dad (on the right) with the senator from our district.

POPSHow to Use First Names In the world of influence, names are money. Schoolteachers know it. Bartenders know it. Salesmen know it. Very polite children know it. These people have figured it out. A name well used makes any person feel seen. When someone uses my name, I know that he has at least considered me in some fashion, that my presence has registered. It conveys a substratum of intimacy, a level of connection, a sense that life does not have to be lived in a torpid fog of anonymous comings and goings.

POPSHumorous Dissent I realize that the cameras are "serious business", but they are showing up everywhere. I admit that even I feel a little childish (the point, maybe?) around these things, even when I go up to my ATM (I always smile and stick out my tongue, on purpose). These guys take dissent to a whole 'nother level. At least the guys watching the cameras have something entertaining to look at.

POPSVedah.com- Hidden meanings and Symbolism This is clipped from www.vedah.com an enlightening website which features very fine articles. An interesting article on the short comings of the English translations of the Vedas by the occidental scholars.
