POPSFirst complete cancer genome sequenced Understanding the genetic basis of cancer could lead to highly personalized treatments, says Mardis. “Right now, they’re all treated the same way they were 25 years ago,” she says of AML patients. It would be nice, Mardis says, if doctors could tell their patients, “Here’s what we know about your disease, and here are your best treatment options.”

POPSJessie Foster, Shannon Collins, Blonde and Missing "They're literally the blonds of the month. They are the blonds until they cause too much trouble," Grant said, a hint of anger in her usually calm and almost cheerful voice. "They are the ones that fit the description. They didn't go look for these girls, they looked for someone that matched that description.

POPSPatriot Games: What Again New England? "It's not their first time," a member of the committee, who did not wish to be identified, said. In fact, Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan confirmed a similar incident that occurred when the Patriots played at Lambeau Field last Nov. 19. The same cameraman who was questioned by NFL security on Sunday was also the one whom the Packers removed from the sideline and escorted from the field during their 2006 game, according to Packers security official Doug Collins. "From what I can remember, he had quite a fit when we took him out," Harlan said. "We had gotten word before the game that they did this sort of thing, so we were looking for it."

POPSMcCain's Incoherence Finally, McCain had this exchange about his campaign's skeevy robo-calls this weekend on Fox: WALLACE: ... and you said the following , "I promise you, I have never and will never have anything to do with that kind of political tactic." Now you've hired the same guy who did the robo calls against you to — reportedly, to do the robo calls against Obama and the Republican Senator Susan Collins, the co-chair of your campaign in Maine, has asked you to stop the robo calls. Will you do that?

POPSMcCain's Pants Are On Fire This was in my devotional reading today so I guess I was a little sensitive to detecting liars. Prov 26:23-28 23 Like an earthen vessel overlaid with silver dross Are burning lips and a wicked heart. 24 He who hates disguises it with his lips, But he lays up deceit in his heart. 25 When he speaks graciously, do not believe him, For there are seven abominations in his heart. 26 Though his hatred covers itself with guile, His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly. 27 He who digs a pit will fall into it, And he who rolls a stone, it will come back on him. 28 A lying tongue hates those it crushes, And a flattering mouth works ruin. POPSPolestriding Benefits to Patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease After 24 weeks of polestriding training, subjects increased their exercise endurance from 10.3 +/- 4.1 minute to 15.1 +/- 4.5 minute. This was significantly greater than control group subjects whose exercise endurance declined (from 11.2 +/- 4.7 to 10.3 +/- 4.7 minute; P < .001). Relationships between systolic blood pressure (P < .001), heart rate (P = .04), rate pressure product (P = .05), oxygen uptake (P = .016), and perceived leg pain (P = .02) and exercise time improved from the baseline symptom-limited treadmill test to the 6-month symptom-limited treadmill test in the polestriding group compared to the control group.

POPSThe Saddest Sad Songs Of All Time! I picked a few of my favourites. See the list and lyrics at the site. I couldn't get through life without music as a backdrop. Where would we be without it? If you need a rest from politics, just copy/paste a title and go youtubing . Even sad songs can make you happy. I heard this song when I was a little girl and my Dad told me it was about a dog (that probably drowned) and I bawled my eyes out! I still do! :D   Anyway, remember. Jumping off cliffs not allowed! . ;) Clip Song (Not sad, even!)

POPSOld Blighty, the birthplace of English "Collins' editors know that old words die hard — and that some people will vilipend (regard with contempt) any execution without a fair trial. So they've offered the chance of a reprieve. They have made public 24 words that face deletion because editors could find no example of their use in their database of English-language books, newspapers, broadcasts and other media. If, by February 2009, a word reappears in that database with at least six "high quality" citations, it could be spared from the semantic dustbin. "We're looking to see if dropping a little stone in the pond of language actually does generate ripples," says Brookes."
