POPSWhy EMC Showed VMware's Greene the Door, Hired Microsoft-Savvy Scrapper Kevin Fogarty makes some great points about where EMC needs to go in their virtualization play. Rather than waiting for Microsoft to beat you at their game, change the game. I agree that the cloud is where EMC needs to focus now that Microsoft is trying to make the VMware product irrelevant by basically giving their version of it away for free. Microsoft will never be good at innovation. However, with their installed base, they are a very strong me too player with deep pockets.

POPSGizmo's Top Picks Of The Best Tech Resources And Utilities
Zero-cost, three-step procedure if your PC might have become infected as the result of installing a program you downloaded. (a) First, upload the installation file of the program you installed to Jotti.org for a free scan. Jotti will then run it through more than a dozen malware scanners and let you know if there is a problem. If Jotti determines that your file is clean, it doesn't mean that there is no infection. It simply means that it's unlikely there is an infection, and that folks, is a very comforting finding. (b) Download and run the free Panda Rootkit detector . Again, a clean scan is not a 100% guarantee of no infection, but should add greatly to your confidence. Panda doesn't run on Vista, so Vista users should use the BlackLight anti-rootkit scanner instead. (c) Finally, download HijackThis from this page , and follow the instructions on the same page which tell you how to create a log that you can paste to web forums.

POPSClipcasts & The Shape of the Net to Come It's amazing how the press out there, and most of the public, seems to have missed the big picture of what's going on here. They think this is about social networking and internet advertising. They are dead wrong. We're all involved in a much bigger game now, and the pieces are the very building blocks of society's future. I've clipped a few of the puzzle pieces together to make my point: 1. Cold War: Open v. Closed software ...leads to... 2. Show down between Cloud computing vs. PC software ...meanwhile... 3. Microsoft (PC OS) muscles in on Facebook (Internet Platform for Web Apps.) ...and on the other side... 4. Google (the world's leading search engine) muscles in on Firefox (the world's leading alternative web browser.) ...and then... 5.) Clipmarks, total wild card, leapfrogs over facebook into decentralized internet platforms with Clipcasts! Something VERY VERY BIG is afoot!
