POPS‘The Whole World Needs to Adopt China’s One-Child Policy’ Says Moonbat
In fact, many of Europe's current problems assimilating the massive influx of non-Europeans are the result of a declining population, which has caused a shortage in the labor force and strained the ability of the young to support the growing number of elderly. Even the birthrate of the author's own country, Canada, isn't high enough to sustain its population, and Japan's has begun to so deeply affect its economy that the country's thinking of paying its citizens to have more children - $3,400 per year per child. To more vividly argue against the notion of overpopulation, the Web site overpopulationisamyth.com explains through a mathematical equation that the entire world could quite easily live in Texas, leaving the rest of the Earth entirely vacant. Francis also conveniently didn't mention in her article that, according to the book "Introduction to Social Macrodynamics: Compact Macromodels of the World System Growth" (2006),

POPSParents Are Borrowing From Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer
It’s little wonder, then, that some parents, and even a few child therapists, have found themselves taking mental notes from a television personality known for inspiring discipline, order and devotion: Cesar Millan, otherwise known as the Dog Whisperer. The suggestion that the Dog Whisperer is also a Child Whisperer of sorts has popped up — sometimes couched as a joke, but, well, not really — in parents’ forums like blogs, online discussion boards, magazines, Twitter feeds and podcasts. Some parents are starting to take notice. “When we started watching his shows, we had intended to apply his advice toward our dogs,” said Amy Twomey, a blogger on parenthood for The Dallas Morning News who is raising three children under 10 with her husband, Matt. “But we realized a lot of ideas can be used on our kids.” Indeed, Mr. Millan’s advice has replaced a shelf full of books on how to tame an unruly child. “It’s all the same simple concept: how to be the pack leader in your own house,”

POPSBanning the Importation of Goods Made With Child Labor Business groups are worried by the potential effects of provisions banning the import of all goods made with forced or indentured child labor that were included in a customs bill sponsored by Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Charles Grassley (R-IA)

POPSLink Party: Miley Cyrus Is a Bad Tipper • Since we’ve all had a chance to say good-bye to Miley Cyrus‘ Twitter, now it’s time to get back to good ol’ gossip. Like this gem: She went to Outback Steakhouse and didn’t tip on her $70 bill. According to her rep, “She didn’t know she was supposed to tip unless she was eating inside.” Too bad there isn’t some microblogging site or something where she can defend herself.

POPSICE: Wait, wait! Let me shoot myself in the other foot too! Sigh... We had a process that enabled children and parents to be reunited fairly quckly. Now to "protect" kids, we are going to lock them up for months before they can be returned to their parents. I guess Homeland Security cloned Dumb and Dumber many more times than we thought they did.

POPSCultural Divide There is this disturbing elephant in the room. Mohammad took a bride who was 9 years old and consummated the marriage when she turned 11. Most people today would view this as depraved behavior. I'd like to know how modern day Muslims feel about this.

POPSWhat did slave labor make for you? Human trafficking is as much about child labor slavery, as it is about sex. Something that you already own was probably made by a child slave. Find out what is is so you don't support slavery any more!

POPSGet Ready for Detroit-Style Labor Relations in our Hospitals
The current House version of ObamaCare (H.R. 3200) goes much further. Section 225(A) grants Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius tremendous discretionary authority to regulate health-care workers "under the public health insurance option." Monopoly bargaining and compulsory union dues may quickly become a required standard resulting in potentially hundreds of thousands of doctors and nurses across the country being forced into unions. Ms. Sebelius will be taking her marching orders from the numerous union officials who are guaranteed seats on the various federal panels (such as the personal care panel mentioned above) charged with recommending health-care policies. Big Labor will play a central role in directing federal health-care policy affecting hundreds of thousands of doctors, surgeons and nurses. Consider Kaiser Permanente, the giant, managed-care organization that has since 1997 proudly touted its labor-management "partnership"

POPSRead the Union Health-Care Label There's more. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus has suggested that the federal government could pay for health-care reform by taxing American workers' existing health-care benefits—but he would exempt union-negotiated health-care plans. Under Mr. Baucus's scheme, the government could impose costs of up to $20,000 per employee on nonunion businesses already struggling to afford health care plans. Mr. Baucus's proposal would give union officials another tool to pressure employers into turning over their employees to Big Labor. Rather than provide the lavish benefits required by Obamacare, employers could allow a union to come in and negotiate less costly benefits than would otherwise be required. Such plans could be continuously exempted. ObamaCare is a Trojan Horse for more forced unionization.

POPSLow-wage workers are often cheated by their employers More: The researchers said one of the most surprising findings was how successful low-wage employers were in pressuring workers not to file for workers’ compensation. Only 8 percent of those who suffered serious injuries on the job filed for compensation to pay for medical care and missed days at work stemming from those injuries… The study found that women were far more likely to suffer minimum wage violations than men, with the highest prevalence among women who were illegal immigrants. Among American-born workers, African-Americans had a violation rate nearly triple that for whites… The report found that 57 percent of workers sampled had not received mandatory pay documents the previous week, which are intended to help make sure pay is legal and accurate. Of workers who receive tips, 12 percent said their employer had stolen some of the tips."

POPSStealing & Selling Kids - Here! Child trafficking is a problem in Eastern Europe, in South Asia and USA. It's not just for sex that children are trafficked but that's the big ticket item here in USA. Disgusting - yep. Who's buying and who gets jailed when police departments stop denying there is a problem in their community. In Cincinnati, they think it's not a problem but it's not just weed and coke that travels I-74, I-75 and I-74 interstates!

POPSSex Worker Rights, Unionization - Not for These Kids Lately, some folks have been promoting and romanticizing about sex worker discrimination, rights and potential for unionization in the US and other countries. There is nothing romantic or cool about trafficking kids and young women and men for sex or labor slavery.

POPSSo? How's Your Summer Vacation? Working in a brick factory may not be your dream summer job or holiday but a family has to do what it can to survive - right? For those who believe the hype about modernizing economies in India and China: where would you rather be laid off: in China, in India, or here in USA?

POPSEnding the Anchor-Baby Problem In an interview with Business Week, director of NumbersUSA.com, Rob Beck, said, “The U.S. should pass H.R. 1868--the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009--so all babies born on U.S. soil are no longer automatically made citizens. “Maternity tourism is just the beginning of the silliness of birthright citizenship that goes to the babies of foreign students, temporary foreign workers, international travelers--and the millions who break the law to criminally enter this country.” With an astounding 400,000 anchor babies or “Jackpot babies” as named by radio talk show host Terry Anderson in Los Angeles, www.theterryandersonshow.com, American taxpayers pay a heavy price for a total misinterpretation of the 14th amendment of our Constitution.

POPSYou Need a Lineup to Know Who the Scum Are The other day, an organization I thought was great - CARE - Asked me and thousands of others to buy Old Navy GAP and Banana Republic items on sale, so GAP would make a big donation to CARE. I had no handy list to see if those companies were not involved in child labor or abusive labor practices. It took me a while to find out that buying those products contributes to labor and child trafficking. We need the list that our government has and is supposed to publish!

POPSIs a mother in labour a child abuser? I first learned about this story 2 days ago (h/t Kate), but it's taken me this long to write about it because I have been too busy pondering my own good fortune in having a smooth childbirth without unnecessary interference from pushy doctors or child welfare officials. And I've been giving my 2 year old daughter lots of extra cuddles. I'm also sending a donation to the National Advocates for Pregnant Women, and I encourage you to do the same. This doctor's orders: Count your blessings, cuddle your children, and help those less fortunate around you.

POPSAmerican Companies Using Trafficked Labor So where's the list that the Department of Labor was supposed to draw together in 2005? Gee, it was here someplace. Maybe someone sent it to the wrong address? The dog ate it? I think someone spilled unfair traded coffee on it.
