POPS"Left" out at catcher Remarkable, i had no idea this was the case for left handed catchers. And if you think baseball has something against lefty infielders too, you'd be right... "Not one left-handed thrower has played an inning at shortstop in the majors in 100 years. As for second base, there have been only three since World War II" Wow. Talk about inside baseball...this stuff is the baseball equivalent of molecular biology

POPSCubs beat Pirates, Zambrano beats Water Cooler Carlos Zambrano went ballistic after a close play at the plate, then did everything he could to get tossed. Since his actions will surely land him on the all-time list of tantrums (as well as on the suspended list), i've posted one of my all-time favorites (video below)...you gotta love the coach's creativity when he tosses the rosin bag like a hand grenade - awesome!

POPSCubs to Mark Cuban? Momentum in the bidding war for the Chicago Cubs appears to be heading in the direction of Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. Cuban may be a bit of a renegade, unafraid to ruffle the feathers of league brass, but players love him and Dallas fans undoubtedly appreciate his efforts to revive a dormant franchise.

POPSFunny quotes on steroid use in baseball Here is another one: "Former baseball star Jose Canseco has a new book out. It’s a tell-all autobiography in which he claims he injected his former teammate -- superstar Mark McGwire -- with steroids. He also claims that President Bush, who was then a co-owner of the Texas Rangers, was aware of steroid use among players. A White House spokesperson says Bush was not aware of it -- nor was he aware of most anything during the early '90s. Mark McGwire vehemently denies the accusation – he got so angry when he heard about it, he picked up his house and threw it onto the freeway." --Jimmy Kimmel
