POPSHouse Ethics panel expands Rangel probe Interesting how the article tries to make it about party affiliation....Dems vs. Repubs. In fact it's about fraud, tax evasion, and deceit. Nail this guy. If he had an R after his name he'd already be gone. If a Ways & Means Chairman is above the law then all of us should cheat.

POPSThe clock is ticking on tax cheat Charlie Rangel We've been told that it's "patriotic" to pay our taxes. I guess Rangel isn't very "patriotic". So much for those promised ethics reforms, transparency, oaths of office.... Throw the cheat out! Hello IRS and Mr. Holder.

POPSMore Race-based policies from the Obama administration
His entrance into the dust-up between a Massachusetts police officer and Dr. Henry Gates proves that as far as our President is concerned, if you're white, you're not right. He played the race-card in a grand Presidential trump, accusing a white cop of violating a black man's rights. He refused to even consider that his friend, the esteemed doctor, behaved like a titty baby. The Administration's own numbers show that rural America is a diverse community. There is no need for Government intervention. Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center acknowledges that the rise in "hate" groups is astounding, in the last five years, we’ve seen a 30% increase in the number of hate groups. There you have it. All those years of Government mandated affirmative action programs have failed. If the goal was to improve racial relations, they missed it by a country mile. Further proof that the last thing the rural community needs is a bunch of liberal urbanites dictating how we live.

POPSObama May Have to Wait for Health Care Passage Again I ask....what is the RUSH? If Health Care Coverage is so important (and it is) why do these people insist that the complete overhaul of our national system be accomplished within weeks? Do you make important and serious life-altering decisions in this manner? And I say to Charlie Rangel's comment...why not? Especially when everyone admits they don't even know what all is in the bill. Talk about buying a pig in a poke! Don't you think we should *demand* more of these people? Especially since it won't include themselves?

POPSRules For Democrats Are Just Different… For Some Reason What happens if the Democrat President nominates you for Treasury Secretary (the guy in charge of the IRS), and you get caught not paying your taxes? You get confirmed, and your power is continually expanded. What happens if you’re the Democrat Governor of Kansas, and you get caught cheating on your taxes? You get named to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. What happens if the adult daughter of the Democrat vice president is videotaped snorting coke, or the adult son of a Democrat Vice president is busted for drug possession? The MSM suddenly decide that the “children” of politicians are off-limits. Sorry, Bristol, Jenna, and Barbara.

POPSOlbermann's Plastic Ivy Coulter unmasks the charlatan of "My National Barack Channel"... Olbermann relentlessly attacked low-level Bush administration employee Monica Goodling for not going to a name-dropping college, saying -- approximately 1 million times -- that she got her law degree "by sending 100 box tops to Religious Lunatic University."

Diane Feinstein (D-CA)

POPSAnd where was the press? For partisans, there’s the schadenfreude that comes with watching the Democrats — self-proclaimed anti-corruption zealots in recent years — explain why Blagojevich shouldn’t be lumped in with Congressmen Charlie Rangel (cut himself sweetheart deals), William Jefferson ($90,000 in his freezer) and Tim Mahoney (tried to bribe an aide he was sleeping with not to sue him — and you thought romance was dead) as part of a new Democratic “culture of corruption” storyline

POPS It's Good To Be A New York Congressman!
Rep. Charles Rangel has been using a House of Representatives parking garage for years as free storage space for his old Mercedes-Benz - a violation of congressional rules and a potential new tax woe for the embattled lawmaker... House rules forbid use of the garage for long-term storage more than 45 days - and congressional aides told The Post that Rangel's car has been sitting there for years... A House Web site on parking regulations informs anyone with a space that, under IRS regulations, the benefit of the free parking is considered 'imputed income' and must be declared to the government. The spaces are valued by the House at $290 per month... In addition to the storage issue, the vehicle... runs afoul of other rules set forth on the House Web site because it does not have license plates and does not display a current House parking permit. Rangel, a Congressman for a mere four decades, is as an effective an argument for term limits as Robert Byrd's life support system.

POPS"Obamanomics" A "Recipe For Recession" Thus, while Mr. Obama also proposes an alternative minimum tax (AMT) patch, he could instead wind up with the permanent abolition plan for the AMT proposed by the Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D., N.Y.) -- a 4.6% additional hike in the marginal rate with no deductibility of state income taxes. Marginal tax rates would then approach 70%, levels not seen since the 1970s and among the highest in the world. The after-tax return to work -- the take-home wage for more time or effort -- would be cut by more than 40%. That would, obviously, devastate the economy. Worse, it is unfair. It is simply immoral for the state to confiscate 70% of anyone's income. It would be deeply ironic if, at a time when the rest of the world is moving toward greater freedom in the form of lower tax rates, the United States were to regress to the stultifying statism of the 1970s. Yet that is exactly what Barack Obama promises.

POPSIt is time to "consider reinstituting the draft." Ahh the road to eternal war. Either you sign up voluntarily or the money-powers-that-be drag you kicking and screaming into it. Let's start the draft at the top income brackets and work our way down for a change. You want a draft so bad, then get your ass into the military and serve like the people you want to send to their deaths.

POPSI Hope it Happens While being a big Hillary supporter, I've been coming to the unfortunate realization that Obama is very likely to win the democratic nod over her. Obama is alright, but Hillary is by far more experienced and has greater leadership qualities that will make her a better president. Obama is more personable, but he doesn't have the experience to be president. If he and Hillary can put aside their differences, having Hillary's experience to fill the gap for Obama, combined with his eloquence, they'd be a perfect combo. I'm still not convinced it can happen - Hillary will not be 2nd to anyone - but if Obama does in fact win the nomination, here's hoping it does.

POPSSen Jim DeMint (R-SC) Introduces His Stop The Raid Amendment
Every year, Congress votes to raid the Social Security Fund. Some in Congress have made a living redistributing tax dollars from working families to special interests. They believe that your money is best spent on a rain forest project in Iowa or the Charlie Rangel Center for Public Service in Harlem. Instead of allowing private donations or investments to pay for such projects, some members of Congress have decided that you, the taxpayer, should foot the bill. The Senate will have its chance to do just that when Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) introduces his Stop the Raid amendment. Each Senator will have to take a stand on an important issue. By looking at how each Senator votes we will know who is serious about stopping the raid of the Social Security Trust Fund. Senator Barack Obama, for example, has floated the idea of increasing taxes to make up future shortfalls in the Social Security system. Meanwhile, he is only too happy to take earmarks that benefit him politically.

POPS The Restoration of King Dollar Every time an international terrorist event occurs, like the al-Qaeda assassination attempt on former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto, the dollar falls. When the Turks threaten military action in Kurdistan, Iraq, with speculation that they might march toward the Kirkuk oilfields, the dollar falls. When comrade Vladimir Putin shows up in Iran, with mischief-making statements that support trade and nuclear partnerships with that terrorist government, the dollar falls. It seems as though any nasty international event leads to a dollar decline. This is not good. The dollar needs some propping up. Oil prices are rising. Gold prices are rising. And currency traders around the world have set up huge short-selling positions in the greenback. But a few strong words from Mr. Paulson, coupled with a few well-timed rounds of dollar-buying, could turn the U.S. currency story around
