POPSMonument to Dead Fetus Proposal
I am really surprised at Wendell Gilliard. Wendell was 10 years on the Charleston District 6 City Council before recently vacating the seat to move up to the House for SC. Everyone liked him well enough. Across the board when asked what his greatest achievement was for the City of Charleston in over a decade, his constituents give him props for having a naughty bookstore zoned out of the area - not much else! Now his first big deal on the table is for a monument to the dead fetuses? You have got to be kidding me! I don't even think we have a monument to the fallen soldiers in Iraq yet. So, "private" donations are going to pay for it, but forever more, the taxpayers will have to sustain it. That's just a giant load of malarkey. With SO many more important issues affecting our people right now, there are so many other things tax dollars need to go to other than dead fetus statue maintenance fees. Only 349 of 5,353 reg. voters voted to fill Wendell's empty Dist.

POPSThe Poinsettia: A Christmas Symbol Started in Charleston SC In keeping with Christmas, here is a legend of the poinsettia that dates back several centuries, to a Christmas Eve in Mexico when a little girl named Pepita had not gift to present the Christ child. Her cousin Pedro urged her to give a humple gift. So, on her way to church she gathered some weeds she found along the road. As she approached the altar, a miracle happened: The weeds blossomed into brilliant flowers and were called Flores de Noche Buena - Flowers of the Holy Night.
