POPSInternet Providers Push Back Against 'Net Neutrality' Proposal expanding the rules to cover wireless networks. The company would be "very disappointed if has already drawn a conclusion to regulate wireless services despite the absence of any compelling evidence of problems or abuse that would warrant government intervention," said Jim Cicconi, AT&T's senior executive vice president of external and legislative affairs. FCC officials said they would work with phone companies to develop rules that wouldn't create problems for wireless networks. "I am convinced that there are few goals more essential in the communications landscape than preserving and maintaining an open and robust Internet," Mr. Genachowski said in his speech Monday at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank. Strengthening FCC rules on Web traffic is a top priority of consumer groups and Internet advocates who supported President Barack Obama in his run for the White House.

POPSEvernote Economics The company is smaller than I thought. You'd have to wonder if they made a Symbian application would it help them a lot? This is special pleading. I use Nokias and love them. Possibly there is some feature missing in the Nokia OS that makes it hard? Or is it just iPhones are cool, but a tiny market?

POPS"Courtesy Loans" or Loan Sharks Banks are ever more charging their users more and more fees for less and less service, but it's been revealed that one service charge accounts for more than half of banks' profits; overdraft fees. As a "Courtesy", banks now tend to loan people money to pay for overdrafts to their accounts, rather than returning the payment, but that "Courtesy" comes at a steep price — a mafia loan-like price. I faced the precursor to this problem; my bank giving me phantom service charges to make my cheques bounce, so they could charge exorbitant NSF fees, and then reverse the "erroneous" service charge, so everything seems all nice and legal. I didn't go so far as to sue the bank, since I resolved the issue that day (and closed out my account), but despite them trying to keep the issue quiet, I made sure to speak very loudly about just how the bank screwed me. I hope they lost a lot of customers that day.

POPSDo We Need a New Internet Right now, I can't see how creating a new internet would provide any more security. Creating a new internet will open the door for charging to gain access to it and even then hackers will find ways to get to our information. So, why bother?

POPSCOMCAST is Realy CONCAST Slowing the traffic on the internet and charging users by the minute, is their ultimate goal. Standing in the way of innovations and technological evolution, the corporate "milking" of existing standards. Greed.

POPSSan Jose Leading the Way I'm very proud to see San Jose leading the way on this effort, being the first major city to implement electric car charging stations. Because not everyone has easy access to power outlets in their homes - especially people who live in apartment complexes - this type of system will help make electric cars more of a reality.

POPSCharging by the Byte to Curb Internet Traffic Think about it--the telecoms have us by the short hairs. They also have immunity (or soon will) from prosecution for helping the Gov't spy on us if they want. We need to speak out about this, wherever possible.

POPSCharging By The Byte To Curb Internet Traffic
“Based on current trends, total bandwidth in the AT&T network will increase by four times over the next three years,” the company said in a statement. All three companies say that placing caps on broadband use will ensure fair access for all users. Internet metering is a throwback to the days of dial-up service, but at a time when video and interactive games are becoming popular, the experiments could have huge implications for the future of the Web. Even if the caps are far above the average users’ consumption, their mere existence could cause users to reduce their time online. Just ask people who carefully monitor their monthly allotments of cellphone minutes and text messages. “As soon as you put serious uncertainty as to cost on the table, people’s feeling of freedom to predict cost dries up and so does innovation and trying new applications,” Vint Cerf, the chief Internet evangelist for Google who is often called the “father of the Internet.”
