POPS Is Barack Obama Anti-American?
And with other dreams (for example, the Second Amendment) he’s doing a fancy dance by which he tries to hide his authoritarian impulses. But it doesn’t matter. This post isn’t about what Obama will actually do. It’s about what he wants to do, what his desires are vis a vis the American people " and it’s very clear that his desire is antithetical to the American essence. He wants to limit or destroy individual liberties. Politically, too, Obama’s impulses are all antithetical to liberty. Again, some examples: He has turned against the only democratic nation in the Middle East (that would be Israel), in favor of the bloodied tyrannical theocracies on her borders. By reversing his pledge to keep a missile defense system in place in Poland and the Czech Republic, he has favored Iran’s Muslim tyranny Figuratively and literally, he bows to dictators (Saudis, Venezuelans, Russians, Iranians, Cubans). In Honduras, he sided with the delusional Zelaya against the . . .

POPSWe’ve Won the Battle of the NAFTA Superhighway
It was during this meeting that the environmental study director informed them the Final DEIS (Draft Environmental Impact Statement) would be submitted to the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) by January, 2008. The next step would be condemnation of the 146 acres per mile to build the super highway. The newly formed Eastern Central Texas Sub-Regional Planning Commission (ECTSRPC) went to work laying out in government-to-government meetings the flaws in TXDOT’s study and violations of law being committed by the agency. The coordination strategy utilized by these courageous Texans, developed by Fred Kelly Grant, president of American Stewards, stopped the I-35 Trans-Texas Corridor. How big is this coordination victory for local government? Here is what we were up against: * The Trans-Texas Corridor was a keystone project for Governor Perry; * It was fully supported by President George W. Bush; * It had the funding of the Spanish Corporation, Cintra-Zachry;

POPSObama slashes Medicare in 2010 for Heart, Cancer Docs -- Media Silent And while Obama and his Democrat allies in Congress try to ram a multi-trillion, socialized medicine program down the throats of the American people, the separate 2010 Medicare spending proposal has received almost no media attention. Announced July 1, it proposes to slash reimbursements to cardiologists and oncologists by more than 10% each . Consider, for a moment, that the number of American senior citizens (65 and over) is soaring and medical specialists were already projected to be in short supply. In fact, the Census Bureau predicts that the number of seniors will more than double from 40.2 million in 2010 to 81.2 million in 2040. These disastrous government policies are certain to hurt seniors. It's a real pity that the mainstream media couldn't find time to cover this story, although I'm sure Ezekiel Emanuel is pleased. Hat tip: Mark Levin.

POPSHugo Chavez of Venuzuela: New Laws: Saint or Sinner?
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is a very interesting person, making profound changes in his nation and strong in his opposition to many U.S. policies. He's in the headlines today for new laws that cut out state support for Catholic education in the schools, introduction of "socialist doctrine," (about'The Liberator', Simón Bolívar), restrictions on hostile media and (gasp!) rights of the government to expropriate property. He opposes Israeli policies of warmongering, apartheid and genocide, is not only forming alliances with Russian and Iran but is building up a substantial coalition of Central and South American countries. The clip here is about the U.S. now planning to put "troops on the ground in Columbia," - (after a lifetime of covert military actions --- Columbia is one of the USA proxy armies in the region). He's also called George Bush the Devil (good for him) and he disdains the game of golf (probably shouldn't have mentioned this). Saint or Sinner? ¿Otro

POPSGreen Jobs Czar is a Hoot! - Fits Right In Phil Kerpen: This is somebody who was involved in radical politics out in San Francisco, California. He was arrested during a demonstration/riot following the Rodney King verdict. And he said himself that he was radicalized in jail, that he found communism and anarchism. And then he started a pretty radical, kind of communist, socialist, utopian group that was supposed to end all racism though central planning. And then he decided that the real path the sort of progressive nirvana, was the this green jobs idea. I think its pretty instructive what his past is, I am not just trying to smear the guy, but I think it’s the same sort of philosophy, the idea that government ought to be reordering society in accordance with some utopian vision that failed with communism and socialism, and will fail with this green jobs idea. We are imposing a top-down vision.

POPSAMA signs its members up to be civil servants I have not met a single person who is not completely worried about this healthcare issue. No one argues that there are a lot of things that need to be fixed or altered. But the *rush* factor is very puzzling. Better to intelligently deal with one portion at a time than to throw over the entire system when parts of it are working well.

POPSAccusations Pile Up Over Panetta CIA Briefing Pelosi took a political beating over the accusation, and they want Panetta to vindicate her by admitting her claim was actually true. Panetta aides said he stands by the May 15 statement, in which he said the CIA has always been truthful congress. Intelligence Committee Chairman Sylvestre Reyes, D-Texas, said he may call for a committee investigation into the matter. Pelosi told reporters she is leaving is not getting personally involved in deciding whether to investigate the matter. "I'm sure they will be pursuing this in their regular committee process and that's the way it will go," she said. In the meantime, House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Pelosi is the one who should be investigated for accusing the CIA of lying.

POPSA Declaration of Independence from Big Government
At every turn, the British Crown had concentrated political power and decision-making in its own hands, leaving the American colonists with little ability to manage their own affairs through local and state governments. Laws and rules were imposed without the consent of the governed; local laws and procedures meant to limit abusive or arbitrary government were abrogated or ignored. The king also had attempted to manipulate the legal system by arbitrarily appointing judges that shared his power-lusting purposes or were open to being influenced to serve the monarch’s policy goals. The king’s officials unjustly placed colonists under arrest in violation of writ of habeas corpus, and sentenced them to prison without trial by jury. Colonists often were violently conscripted to serve in the king’s armed forces and made to fight in foreign wars. But what was at the heart of many of their complaints and grievances against King George III were the economic controls that limited . . .

POPSOperation KHANJAR will rapidly move to introduce the initial essential aspects of governance and economic development into these newly secured areas. These efforts will be focused upon providing immediate assistance to the population, and in setting the conditions for successful elections in August. Today’s operation is designed to separate and isolate the Taliban from the population who has long suffered the effects of their presence. This large scale operation is not without risk to the many thousands of brave and dedicated Afghan and coalition troops participating. This operation is designed to boldly demonstrate to the Afghan people the determination and dedication of the Government and Coalition Forces in ridding the area of Taliban insurgents who prey upon the people. The Taliban offer no future, no hope, and we will work to provide immediate security gains to the local citizens of the Helmand River valley.

POPSThe Economic Impact of the Waxman-Markey C&T Bill
So, the good news for the rest of us--homeowners, car owners, small-business owners, farmers--is that we won't be directly regulated under this bill. The bad news is that nearly all the costs will get passed on to us anyway. What are those costs? According to the analysis we conducted at The Heritage Foundation, which is attached to my written statement, the higher energy costs kick in as soon as the bill's provisions take effect in 2012. For a household of four, energy costs go up $436 that year, and they eventually reach $1,241 in 2035 and average $829 annually over that span. Electricity costs go up 90 percent by 2035, gasoline by 58 percent, and natural gas by 55 percent by 2035. The cumulative higher energy costs for a family of four by then will be nearly $20,000. As with American manufacturers, Waxman-Markey also puts American farmers at a global disadvantage, as other food-exporting nations would have no comparable energy-price raising measures in place.

POPSThe Lying Liars of Socialized Medicine Presumably Daschle recommends the Federal Reserve-SEC-Politburo-style central planning model. On Page 179, Daschle writes, “The Federal Health Board (FHB) wouldn’t be a regulatory agency, but its recommendations would have teeth because all federal health programs would have to abide by them.” Although the FHB would have no official oversight of the two-thirds of health care delivered through the private sector, Daschle asserts that Congress could easily change that aspect of the Board: " could... link the tax exclusion for health insurance to insurance that complies with the Board’s recommendation.” Yesterday USA Today reported that Democrats are using just that approach. "The biggest tax break in America — tax-free health benefits from employers — could be scaled back to pay for President Obama's overhaul of the nation's health care system." By doing so, Congress would utterly and completely destroy America's private-sector health care system

POPS TARP - has overtones of a criminal enterprise
“Government planning, government controls, state-directed economy, corporate capitalism, central planning, industrial policy – that’s what this has got,” Kudlow interjected. “This guy Barofsky said this thing has overtones of a criminal enterprise.” Liesman said it was the lack of regulation that got things to where they are currently, but Santelli responded by saying it’s also OK for things to fail in a capitalist economy. “I’m not fans of anything but capitalism and if it fails once in awhile, it’s better than Washington dictating,” Santelli added. “He’s the inspector general of the TARP program,” Kudlow said. “He is an attorney, he is a former special prosecutor – you’re going to tell me he’s wrong? I’m not making this up, I’m just reading his press release.” However, Santelli showed that government often fails when it attempts to participate in a free-market economy and cited one specific example. “My last word is – just think about Amtrak when you think about gettin

POPSTaliban Chief Vows 'Amazing' Attack on Washington 'Soon'
Pakistan's former government and the CIA named Mehsud as the prime suspect behind the December 2007 killing of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Pakistani officials accuse him of harboring foreign fighters, including Central Asians linked to Al Qaeda, and of training suicide bombers. In his latest comments, Mehsud identified the White House as one of the targets in an interview with local Dewa Radio, a copy of which was obtained by the AP The gunmen who attacked the police academy killed seven police and two civilians, holding security forces at bay for about eight hours before being overpowered by Pakistani commandos. Some of the attackers wore police uniforms, and they took hostages and tossed grenades during the assault. Earlier Tuesday, a spokesman from a little-known militant group linked to the Pakistani Taliban also claimed responsibility for the attack and a similar ambush-style attack against the Sri Lankan cricket team earlier this month in Lahore.

POPSIran Missile Experts in North Korea: Japanese Prepare To Intercept Illegal Missile As tensions increase ahead of the rocket launch, Japan's Air Self-Defense Force began deploying units capable of shooting down a rocket to the northern prefectures of Akita and Iwate. Early today, units carrying Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missiles left a base in central Japan and will arrive at the northern prefectures on Monday, according to Japan's national broadcaster NHK. On Friday Tokyo gave its military the green light to shoot down any incoming North Korean rockets. Pyongyang has said that it will launch a communications satellite over northern Japan between April 4 and April 8, but the US and its allies in the region believe the secretive regime is actually planning illegally to test a long-range Taepodong-2 missile that could reach North America. Japanese media claimed that spy satellites have photographed the nose cone of a long-range North Korean rocket on its launch pad.

POPSPetraeus To Deliver Princeton Baccalaureate Address
… And Plans A 2010 Visit To Iowa........ She added that she was surprised by his prompt reply last week. “With asking people who are so busy, they have to consult their schedule, and it can take from a week to months to confirm,” Tilghman said. “I contacted him and got a response back in 20 minutes. I think he has a very deep affection for Princeton.” Gen. Petraeus planning 2010 visit to Iowa “THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned that General Petraeus is planning on delivering the commencement address at the University of Iowa in 2010.” So reports Michael Goldfarb, late of the McCain campaign, on the magazine’s blog. Petraeus going to Iowa, a state he doesn’t have previous ties to, is going to create a huge amount of buzz about his presidential ambitions because the Iowa Caucuses kick off the whole presidential nomination process. If he does, deliver the address—and Petraeus must know this—it will be seen as a sign that he is thinking about running in 2012.
