10:10 - The time for action
JICWyllie
by JICWyllie  1-1-2010
If people cut 10 per cent CO2 emissions a year for five years ... I wonder whether the first 10 per cent is the most difficult, and it then becomes easier. Or is it the other way around? Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this kind of activity that government and its bureaucracies become increasingly irrelevant.

PETA vs. Warmists. Who will win this war?

Wow. Most of my dear friends who believe in the disastrous human impact on our global climate are also devoted pet-lovers (and very good people). How will they reconcile their love for the planet and their love for Spot and Fluffy? Guess they'll be eating lots of veggies and walking to work.

The Truth About CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) vs. "Climate" Hysteria
blueridge
by blueridge  12-14-2009
CO2 is NOT a pollutant--it's natural and essential for life! Maybe those who cry loudest against CO2 should save or hold their breath, literally, since they are expelling so much CO2 in their political propaganda, while attempting to overthrow civilization. Any government, whether national or global, that attempts to regulate the necessities of life (including your own breathing!), is erecting the largest tyranny of all.

Martha's Vineyard rich liberals: "No wind turbines, they spoil my ocean view"
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  12-9-2009
The hypocrisy of the wealthy celebrity warmists whose lifestyle makes a daily carbon footprint as large as one of China’s coal-fired plants is astounding. They reject a wind farm in Nantucket bay because it will spoil their view. I could care less that Al Gore has made a bigger mess of the environment with his nine concerts than years of single toilet paper use by the entire population could compensate for. I am tired of hearing that it’s my responsibility to reduce this myth of global warming. I’m tired of being told I’m “addicted to oil,” when the country’s entire infrastructure is built on the automobile. These people are idiots. I'd like to throw them all into Nantucket Bay where they'll be Aquaman's problem instead.

HYPOCRITICAL SCAM ARTISTS
mountainpalm
by mountainpalm  12-7-2009
Approximately 140 aircraft carrying world leaders, heads of state and VIPs will land in Copenhagen, the U.N. estimates — although 95 percent of departures from Copenhagen Airport will be “green departures,” which allow airplanes to climb continuously to their optimal operating level, enabling them to reach planned routes sooner than usual. The result, according to the U.N., is saved time, fuel and carbon emissions. But Michaels wonders why attendees, particularly those in Europe, can't ride the rails into Copenhagen. “That’s the way I get to New York,” Michaels said. “There’s nothing new here. There’s always been a lot of hypocrisy amongst the climate change political community. "Prince Charles goes around the world in a private jet, telling everyone else they need to ration their carbon dioxide. Please.”

Brits Could Be Given a Personal 'Carbon Allowance'
merrie
by merrie  11-13-2009    1
If their "carbon account" hits zero, they would have to pay to get more credits. Those who are frugal with their carbon usage will be able to sell their unused credits and make a profit. Lord Smith will call for the scheme to be part of a "Green New Deal" to be introduced within 20 years when he addresses the agency's annual conference on Monday. An Environment Agency spokesman said only those with "extravagant lifestyles" would be affected by the carbon allowances. He said: "A lot of people who cycle will get money back. It will probably only be bankers and those with extravagant lifestyles who would lose out." However, some have criticised the move as "Orwellian" and say it will have a detrimental impact on business. Ruth Lea, an economist from Arbuthnot Banking Group, told the Daily Mail: "This is all about control of the individual and you begin to wonder whether this is what the green agenda has always been about. It's Orwellian.

America’s First Zero Carbon Mass Transit Shuttle
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  10-6-2009
Compared to diesel or CNG buses, their buses have low maintenance costs, low operation costs, zero tailpipe emissions, and can reach a zero carbon footprint if powered by renewable energy sources. There will be a presentation/demonstration of the technology at American University in D.C. on Wednesday, October 21. They will be showcasing the following: - The 15-foot minibus showcased will be the first electric vehicle in the country powered completely by ultracapacitors. - Two dozen full-size ultracapacitor buses have been in commercial operation in Shanghai, China for the past three years. - The ultracapacitor vehicle demonstration is a combined effort of American University, Sinautec Automobile Technologies, The Stella Group, and Shanghai Aowei Technologies Corp.
