That’s not enough for many gay activists, but it will win over the Washington-based leadership of HRC and other gay groups, ever eager to sing the praises of a politician with a (D) after his name who says the right things to their audiences. Of course, to those activists, with highfalutin language and that (D), it really doesn’t matter what he does. Once again, it was typical Obama, lofty words with little to show for them. Sickening. Even the press " even Helen Thomas " criticized Obama the last time he held a “town-hall meeting” on health care. Each of these three meetings will carefully screen attendees and get the questions in advance, to minimize embarrassment to Obama. Beyond that, town-hall meetings won’t solve the problem of national rejection of ObamaCare. People want insurance reform, but they don’t want a government takeover of the system. The big problem is the legislation itself. If Obama wants to fix that, then he needs a meeting with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, not the people of Bozeman and Portsmouth. The legislators who have to hold town-hall meetings without Obama won’t get to use the Secret Service to screen attendees. They need to connect to their constituents in order to get re-elected in 2010

He created the impression on the campaign trail that he was familiar with major issues and readily ticked off his positions on them. But he has not proved so good at legislating. One reason, perhaps, is that he has had little practice. He served as a legislator for a dozen years before becoming president, but was only rarely an active one. He spent one of his eight years as an Illinois state senator running unsuccessfully for Congress and two of them running successfully for U.S. senator. He spent two of his years in the U.S. Senate running for president. During all of his seven non-campaign years as a legislator, he was in the minority party. In other words, he's never done much work putting legislation together -- especially legislation that channels vast flows of money and affects the workings of parts of the economy that deeply affect people's lives.

We may now safely conclude that whomever leads in green technology will certainly trail the world in economic development. Especially when leading the way means we discard energy sources that are reliable and affordable. By doing so, we ensure less money in the pockets of individuals. Cap and trade will be an embedded tax in everything from the car we drive, to the A/C that keeps us cool, to the gas we use to operate vehicles, to the food we eat, to the very air we breathe. All industries that make things or produce things (including food) emit carbon. Therefore, everything is subject to this program, and the “little guy” pays for it all in the end. What do these politicians in the House of Representatives hope to achieve through this bill? Reduce emissions and save the planet we assume. Why then, are we emulating the European Union’s famed ETS (Emissions Trading Scheme), which actually saw emissions RISE by 1.9% from 2005 to 2008? Could it be that our politicians are not REALLY

The healthy American response would be to tell him to spin on it; but with this administration grovelling to anti-American forces, convinced its only enemies are fellow Americans, one wonders what further surrenders of US interests, dignity and sovereignty may be made. Why draw the line at Spain - why not have Republican officials tried in Cuba for maintaining a blockade?

POPS Obama And The CIA He cynically subordinated the national interest to his partisan desire to embarrass the Republicans. Then he had to rush to Langley, Virginia to try to reassure a demoralised CIA that had just discovered the President of the United States was an even more formidable foe than al-Qaeda. "Don't be discouraged by what's happened the last few weeks," he told intelligence officers. Is he kidding? Thanks to him, al-Qaeda knows the private interrogation techniques available to the US intelligence agencies and can train its operatives to withstand them - or would do so, if they had not already been outlawed. So, next time a senior al-Qaeda hood is captured, all the CIA can do is ask him nicely if he would care to reveal when a major population centre is due to be hit by a terror spectacular, or which American city is about to be irradiated by a dirty bomb.

In the next two months leading up to the November elections, American Airlines donated $250,000 to the Democrats. United donated $100,000 to the DNC. Northwestern put $53,000 more into the kitty. Following the election, in January, Gore floated a draft final report that eliminated all security measures from the commission's findings, according to the insider.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen found that more people, by a margin of 41 percent to 39 percent, would support a Republican than a Democrat in the next congressional race. A poll taken for National Public Radio showed similar results. Given that Democrats have trounced Republicans on that question for a long time, the new results are raising eyebrows on Capitol Hill. So while the numbers shift beneath him, Obama hits the comedy circuit and the campaign trail. But sooner or later, he'll need to come back to his problems, because it's his crisis now.
