The idea excited him so much that he booked a passage on a ship and sailed to New York to drum up support for it. As he entered New York Harbor, Bartholdi noticed a small, 12-acre piece of land near Ellis Island, called Bedloe’s Island. He decided it was the perfect spot for his statue. Bartholdi spent the next five months traveling around the U.S. and getting support for the statue. Then he went back to France, where the government of Emperor Napoléon III (Napoléon Bonaparte’s nephew) was openly hostile to the democratic and republican ideals celebrated by the Statue of Liberty. They would have jailed him if he’d spoken of the project openly – so Bartholdi kept a low profile until 1874, when the Third Republic was proclaimed after Napoléon III’s defeat. Bartholdi went back to work. My COH physicians have determined that I need a booster dose of immunoglobulins (aka IVIG), so that infusion is scheduled for about 5-6 hours tomorrow. Here is some background on the procedure to be followed on Friday by a separate (similar duration) infusion of the miracle substance called Rituxan that is also an immune system enhancer. Even though we are still in remission officially from the lymphoma following the radiation (TomoTherapy) treatment in September, these infusions are designed to help my immune system prevent any return of the disease and to aid in other preventions of sickness. All things considered, I have been significantly well since the start of my medical leave at the end of August, or at least since the completion of the radiation treatment. POPSCongresswoman Dina Titus urges constituents to print their own money Earlier in the year, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner unveiled a new program designed to combat falling prices, called the No Sales & Low Prices, or NOSLOP, program. The target is for consumer staples to rise at least four or five times wages. So far, the efforts have failed to make prices rise substantially. This failure has been blamed on inadequate money printing measures by the Fed. "The Treasury has a plurality of tools at its disposal to combat price deflation and prevent people from finding bargains. We all know that consumers get upset at low prices, so we started a new program called No Sales & Low Prices . We are asking consumers to report any store that is advertising anything as being on sale, or if they find anything on a store shelf that is marked down," said Treasury Secretary Geithner. It is now a federal felony to lower prices without the approval of President Obama's Consumer Price Czar.
