Tea---------- The caffeine content in tea is useful for stimulating alertness, mood and motivation, but is also a rich source of the antioxidant called catechins. Studies suggest that catechins protect the artery walls against the damage that causes heart disease and prevents formation of blood clots. Red Wine or grape juice------------ Grapes provide vitamin C, vitamin B1 and vitamin B6–red grapes also contain powerful phytochemicals that may help decrease risk of cardiovascular disease. . Resveratrol, a polyphenolic stilbene found in the skins of red fruits including grapes has been shown to have anti-oxidant, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory activity.

Don't let any tell you different - coffee improves your health, in most cases. Here's a list of some recent reports about how it can help and not hurt. Of course, consult your doctor for any personal decisions on the use of caffeine. Click the comment link or post a reply to us at http://www.twitter.com/thirstyfishinfo

Bid to cut energy drink sales to children gets boost
tabsey
by tabsey  10-27-2008
Threatened to ban a drinker if his kid didn't stop harassing me for a "rocket fuel"; I'd seen him drink a half a glass and go ballistic at another pub. Kids bodies and brains are not able to handle drugs.

caffeine in the diet
tabsey
by tabsey  10-4-2008
The caffeine content of coffee depends on the type of coffee bean. Beans from the plant species robusta generally have more caffeine than those from the arabica species. Arabica beans generally produce a more full-bodied flavor. These beans are the ones likely to be found in gourmet coffee shops. The roasting and brewing of coffee also play a part. Contrary to popular belief, darker roasted beans actually have less caffeine. The heat literally roasts out the caffeine.

Is There Slavery In Your Chocolate?
Marcariel
by Marcariel  10-28-2007    1
This clip is for abailart. This is another even worse example of the bottom line being the driving force behind inhumane treatment of the workers who produce the things we buy every day. This story broke back in 2001, and I'm glad to read that there has been some progress in addressing this atrocity. But as can be seen by this quote from the article there is still money talking in these decisions. "the U.S. chocolate industry and its allies mounted an intense lobbying effort to fight off legislation that would require "slave free" labels for their products." Unfortunately, Money Talks! Legislators have their hands tied by lobbyists and special interest groups. Sad!

Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, codeine, and many more drugs are examples of psychoactive drugs. There is information regarding Legal and Cultural influences. I think that before I can comment on or even have an opinion on drugs, I must be aware of the clinical details, and range of effects. This site does not condone or condemn drug use, but is a valuable guide regarding drugs, particularly commonly taken social drugs, illegal drugs, many prescribed medicines and associated cultural use and Law. Always remembering that every persons metabolism has differences, which may make something that seems safe for some, dangerous, for others, such as allergies, genetic differences, tolerances, and social acceptability. It is always best discussed with a trusted Physician.
