POPSBrit Hume on Tiger Woods I agree with Brit Hume on his compassionate message to Tiger Woods... Christianity is the only religion in the world that offers Grace. Turning to Christ, Tiger Woods could restore all that he has lost in the wake of the sex scandal in his life.

POPSThink Buddhists are all peaceniks? Think again. A new collection of academic studies reveals a strong strain of violence and militancy that runs through the world's historically Buddhist cultures. So -- it's not all about "present moment, wonderful moment" after all, I guess.

POPSIf you can find a better deal.....TAKE IT
In the Washington Post, Tom Shales demanded that Hume apologize, saying he had "dissed about half a billion Buddhists on the planet." Is Buddhism about forgiveness? Because, if so, Buddhists had better start demanding corrections from every book, magazine article and blog posting ever written on the subject, which claims Buddhists don't believe in God, but try to become their own gods. I can't imagine that anyone thinks Tiger's problem was that he didn't sufficiently think of himself as a god, especially after that final putt in the Arnold Palmer Invitational last year. Are you a visual learner? Absorb the truths of God's Word through the WatchWord Bible – the entire New Testament on DVD In light of Shales' warning Hume about "what people are saying" about him, I hope Hume's a Christian, but that's not apparent from his inarguable description of Christianity. Of course, given the reaction to his remarks, apparently one has to be a regular New Testament scholar to have s

POPSWhose God is Allah? But Christian leaders - representing a little under 10% of the population - say Malays have been using the word Allah to refer generally to God for hundreds of years. Christians are now fighting back. An Evangelical church launched a legal action in an attempt to win the right to refer to God as Allah in children's books. The Roman Catholic Church has also gone to court after its newspaper in Malaysia was threatened with the loss of its licence if it continued to use the word. Christians are turning the issue into one about how minorities are treated in Malaysia. The Christian Federation of Malaysia says the country's constitution guarantees freedom of religion, and it's asking whether that can still be meaningful if Christians are denied Bibles which use their own language. So, Allah and God are two different people/concepts, and what about יַהְוֶה ?

POPSWhat is Bodhisattva? I had never heard this term before. Seems to me that the world would be a better place if we all had a greater understanding and appreciation for Buddhism. Just seems to be the practice of goodness.

POPSTough Teachings to Ease the Mind This reminds me of something Cheri Huber has said: "Depression is the greatest ally a person can have in the pursuit of ending suffering. Your best spiritual friend." At first glance, it's one of those "you MUST be kidding" things. But if you look deeper, it's true. Somebody who isn't depressed, who has just the normal level of discontent and dissatisfaction, can muddle along for years without it ever getting "bad enough" to compel them to do something. A person with depression doesn't have that luxury: either I figure out how to not suffer this way, or I kill myself.
