POPSA Big Google Chrome Extensions Push Is Imminent seems to suggest this Extension launch is indeed imminent. The image on the right would look to be some sort of new Chrome menu placeholder icon related to extensions. And there’s more. Below, find some other pictures and information I was able to find in the Chromium Code Reviews area (placed by Google employees) that seem to make it very clear that Google is about to unleash extension support to rival that of Firefox. Based on what I’m reading, developers will be able to add icons to the Chrome toolbar (likely what the image above represents), add temporary icons inside the Chrome address bar (think: RSS icon), allow users to customize the extensions, and developers will apparently even be able to implement their own versions of “standard browser pages such as the New Tab page.” http://www.techcrunch.com/

POPSHow to Install Extensions in Google Chrome Interesting but i'll pass on this one. ____________________________________ For valid extensions, the Installed extensions section in the Extensions manager, displays the confirming information. Uninstalling or disabling the extensions is also just a matter of a single click from the extensions page. But all this brouhaha for just three sample extensions! It could be a big letdown, if not for third party developers working behind the scenes on extensions of their own. I can straightaway suggest to you two sites that could empower your browser by a bit… Chromeextensions Chromeplugins These sites are not associated to Google but are merely a place for independent developers. But they are the groundbreakers in every sense of the word as Chrome tries to become the internet’s Swiss army knife like Firefox. The salvo has been fired by Google. With time it could be a toss-up between browsers. We just have to pick the browser we want.

POPSGoogle Chrome Gets Extensions Article suggests Google is just starting to rev up the engine but I imagine they are going to go after Firefox with a lot of resources. I'd bet chrome will see some significant growth in 2010.

POPS"tabless" FireFox Monitor this line of thought in order to minimize any impacts its implications may have. One work-around would be the ability to run multiple browsers in concurrent windows. This would, of courrse, require more inter-window communications (which might have operability and security implications).

POPSAll-in-One Sidebar - Sidebar Extension for Firefox! You can set the orientation to left or right, set the minimum, default and maximum width and the behavior on browser startup. All-in-One Sidebar provides enhancements for many built-in features, which are related to the sidebar. Keyboard shortcuts (default settings) All keyboard shortcuts are fully configurable. So it would be possible to prevent collisions with other extensions. Open the options dialog to configure the shortcuts, click the button "Shortcuts" and change them to your needs. I just un-installed Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 b/c it was creating a conflict with a lot of my other applications. When my Firefox 3.0.8 was re-installed all my settings, addons & BOOKMARKS had disappeared. Fortunately I had made a backup of my bookmarks in "aio" (---otherwise, I would have lost about 3 years worth of bookmarks) I re-installed "aio" and restored my bookmarks. That is just one of many features that I really like!

POPS Googles Chrome Extensions Coming Soon! So what’s next in the evolution of Chrome and Extensions? Considering the latest Chromium build has Greasemonkey implementation, the infrastructure points listed above are no doubt being fine tuned as we speak. After that is polished, i’d say the next big step forwards will be Chrome users sporting a shiny new Google Toolbar.
