POPSConvention Overkill Jack Shafer of Slate, whose Press Box column I never miss, argues that the conventions are covered way too much. As we wrote last week (and Shafer mentioned us, so he gets bonus points), some news organizations go all out, even as they're budgets are breaking: http://www.forbes.com/media/2008/08/12/newspapers-media-conventions-biz-media-bw_jz_0812newsbiz.html

POPSTom Brokaw announces, "50 superdelegates to endorse Obama" The math is very much against a Hillary nomination. A brokered convention that overturns the leader in delegates entering the convention will be devastating for the Democratic Party. This has happened before in 1968 and it was a disaster. Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.

POPSLet's Make A Deal I'm with MBH on this one. Oh lord, I was hoping it wouldn't come to this, but it seems teh Interwebtoobz are all a-Twittering about the possibility of a Brokered Convention. Well the only convention I will be attending this year is a Brokeass Convention where the delegates all pool their loose change to buy a slice of pizza and a can of Coke to split 10 ways. Anywho, it looks like Indiana might actually play a role in the selection of our Presidential nomination for a change. This has never happened in my lifetime of 36 years and it is a rare thing. I only hope we can all come together in the fall to elect whoever the Democratic nominee is.
