POPSGuardian 100 best films of the 2000s: 11-100 "Oldboy" is a powerful film not because of what it depicts, but because of the depths of the human heart which it strips bare. The top 10 will be published daily starting 21 Dec. See 11 - 100 list in full @ clip source. The 2000s: decade of the emergence of Mexican talent - Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy!) and Alfonso Cuaron. Is the Motorcycle Diaries in the top 10? Stay tuned. Note: I can clip images if I hover over an image and select shift+r, but that only works if that option is available: strange.

POPSAmazon Titles De-Ranked Meta-Writer is compiling a list of books for which Amazon has removed sales rank figures. This means, among other things, that in the product details for the book, no "Amazon Sales Rank" appears. The company (or, it claims, a wayward algorithm) is apparently targeting gay erotica. Even literary novels by Annie Proulx and Jeanette Winterson have gotten the ax. What next? Portnoy's Complaint? Tropic of Cancer? Lolita? Or must the smut be particularly homosexual in nature? Inquiring minds want to know.

POPSThe Heath Ledger Legend Grows With Golden Globe Victory The way Ledger made headlines since his death ran counter to how he’d recently resolved to live his life. In a 2006 interview with the Daily News, the laid-back kid from Perth, Australia, admitted to “not taking things seriously” when he found fame in “10 Things I Hate About You” (1999), “The Patriot” (2000) and “A Knight’s Tale” (2001). “I was youthful and careless and wasn’t attached to anything,” Ledger said. “From 18 to 22, I was living in L.A. with a bunch of friends, partying. I don’t know if I knew, or cared to know, what I was capable of.”

POPSActor Heath Ledger found dead in NYC This is so sad. They don't even mention one of my most favorite movies that he was in -"The Brothers Grimm". Proof that fame and fortune do not necessarily = happiness. May he rest in peace.

POPSRural Gays Say Life Ain't Easy It really speaks to me about the amount of discrimination faced by these gays living in rural America who say they would give up their orientation in a nanosecond if they could, even admitting they would take a "magic pill" to end their gayness. Incredible what they would do to be accepted. Perhaps we should all take a magic pill to make us fit into what society really values. The line would be long, eh?

POPSMan Lingo (Mango) Gym Faux Pas Phrases that may NOT be uttered to another man while lifting weights: * Yeah, Baby, Push it! * C'mon, give me one more! Harder! * Another set, and we can hit the showers! * I'm not wearing underwear, can you tell? Locker Room Gaze In locker rooms, men shall practice the unfocused "seeing without looking" gaze, enabling them to see where they are going without actually looking at anyone else. Walking around nude in the locker room is wrong! Wear a towel. Shower Faux Pas Phrases that may NOT be uttered to another man in or near the showers: * Is there room for one more in here? * I dropped the soap.

POPSGay Sheep The scientists said they hope to be able to show that sexual orientation in humans is biologically given. They believe that such knowledge would make the world more 'gay-friendly'.
