POPSJapan may scale back Antarctic whaling Japan has said they are looking at corruption in the whaling industry. It seems that the activists who stole the whale meat, en route to a restaurant, has also shown the system to be lying. That they could turn a blind eye to the menus shows arrogance, or ignorance. Should we agree to the view that minke whales are the rabbits of the sea and can be killed for food, the Japanese will put them on the endangered list in no time flat.

POPSSusu For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much - the wheel, New York, wars and so on - whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man - for precisely the same reasons. The last ever dolphin message was misinterpreted as a surprisingly sophisticated attempt to do a double-backwards-somersault through a hoop whilst whistling the 'Star Spangled Banner', but in fact the message was this: So long and thanks for all the fish.

POPSBeware Of The IRS Tax Bite This happened to a friend of mine and I was shocked to learn she had to claim part of her forgiven debt as income. For people who have fallen on hard times, and are trying to pay their debt off--they are slammed with THIS. I think it's horrible and I think it gives people ZERO incentive to do the right thing.

POPSA Rudderless Ship Of State America’s Liberty Ship is dependent upon the twin mainsails of Morality and Constitutional Government to stay on course. It is an irrefutable and irreversible law that these twin sails are indissolubly linked. We cannot have one without the other. America’s founders clearly understood this.

POPSA view inside of their refrigerators, captioned by a few details of the person’s life Menjivar, 29, a professional photographer with a degree in social work, came up with the idea while working on a documentary film about hunger. “I was thinking about how ‘you are what you eat’ is a cultural cliché, but is also very relevant.” He began by making portraits of people with their refrigerators. “But then I realized the viewer would compare how a person looks with what they eat.” He decided that an image of the fridge, captioned by a few details of the person’s life, told more. Menjivar contacted a few friends, but the majority of the fridges belong to strangers, some of whom he approached, and others who offered when they learned about the project. “A lot of people were hesitant or anxious— but in the end, trusted me enough to invite me into their homes.”

POPSLAW ENFORCEMENT VS TERRORISM McConnell said that eight years after the September 11 attacks, the nation is continually reminded of the need to remain vigilant. “In September we learned of a plot to bomb the New York City subway,” McConnell said. “Soon after that, there was the tragic massacre at Ft. Hood. Then, on Christmas Day, there was the failed attempt by a foreign-born terrorist to kill nearly 300 innocent civilians in a commercial airliner in the skies over Detroit. “Our elected leaders have no greater duty than that of protecting the American people from harm, The Obama administration’s policy of having the FBI read the Miranda rights to terrorists captured on the battlefield in Afghanistan is “outrageous,” Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) told CNSNews.com. “To me, this is the most outrageous notion I have ever heard,” said Inhofe. “These people are terrorists, they don’t have rights, they don’t belong to a country that is identifiable.”

POPSAcademy Award Snubs, Snide & Surprises This is an interesting overview of 'who's in,' and 'who's out,' and why. Of course, the ability of Hollywood and our recording and media industry (the Grammys, etc. ) to give themselves awards after awards and more awards ad nauseum can get tiresome fast And not just Acadamy Awards and Grammys, but Golden Globes and People's Choice and Emmys and Blagh Blagh. It's half the time making media and half the time congratulating themselves for it. (I heard they gave out 245 Grammys, or something) But it's all part of the Circus Act of America and good for sales, I'm sure. And almost something for everyone, a nice pic or piece of music here and there -- depending upon personal tastes. (Or lack, thereof) At least the Academy Awards still appears to only have a dozen major categories or less. Winners picked by an exclusive club. Movie and national politics all part of it all. Welcome to Hollyweird. Be sure to bring your red carpet clothes.

POPSIsland residents sue U.S., saying military made them sick The U.S. government's response to their lawsuit is to invoke sovereign immunity, arguing that residents have no right to sue it. The government also disputes that the Navy's activities on Vieques made islanders ill, citing a 2003 study by scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that found no link.

POPSPlanetMates tell us "Your Wordism--is an aberration causing you to never really hear or understand each other." This is highly reminiscent of Plato's "Allegory of the Cave," imho. Especially, "your minds " suffused and distracted with a non-stop stream of non-sensical repetitions of word symbols " imprison and isolate you in a world of swirling mental “bookmarks” of reality, tagged to, but only dimly reflective of What’s Real, and keeping you blind to the wondrous reality itself in which other beings live in clarity of purpose and life meaning, and with direct intra- and interspecies and inter-entity communication."

POPSMore Rock 'n' Roll at the White House
Wow! It's so great to have real people at the White House! (Of course, like Iago in Othello, the president can't stand up or sit down without critics and comments -- all the more power to him to stay so cool, keep on keeping on with doing the right thing, and enjoying himself as well) According to Rolling Stone, the Dylan Freaks are all abuzz: What will he play? What will he play? Since the President is Black (D'uh---half-black) and this is part of Black History Month) some speculate Dylan might pull up something from his Civil Rights era...but who knows. Black music artist Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Richie Havens did covers of Dyan tunes and it wasn't from Dylan's "I Am a Prophet,' series. Obama always emphasized he couldn't work miracles but if he could make Black History Month a little...just a little less painful for us White folks, that would be miracle enough. A whole month! It's tough to slog through. But, then again, it's getting better and better, as this

POPSIran criticizes West on Israeli-Palestinian issues
Another story you have to read in a Chinese newspaper, watch Turkish TV or be a member of the European Union or listen to ALL views at the UN (not just the pro-Western ones). What's going on now in Gaza is genocide. One and a half million people are slowly being stared to death before our eyes. MY America, like in W2, is the nation that fights against such massacres, not support them oract blind to these harsh realities. When we criticize Iran. It might be good to realize once in a while, at least, they also criticize us. This reason, the genocidal policies of Zionism, btw, is the same given by Al-Qaeda for doing 9/11 -- (if you don't know) -- if somehow that news item remains deleted from your mind. After we kill or capture bin Laden and Al-Qaeda leadership, we should give some thought to our uncritical support and blind eye towards Israeli's ceaseless invasion and evictions and suffering inflicted on Palestinians, not get sucked into a phony 'religious war.' for t
