Boston launches flu shot tracking
foxyarse
by foxyarse  9-21-2009    1
Infectious disease specialists in Boston and elsewhere predicted that the registry approach could prove even more useful if something more sinister strikes: a bioterrorism attack or the long-feared arrival of a global flu epidemic. In such crises, the registry could be used to track who received a special vaccine or antidote to a deadly germ. "Anything you can do to better pinpoint who's vaccinated and who's not, that's absolutely vital," said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy at the University of Minnesota. "I wish more cities were doing this kind of thing." Boston is believed to be the first city to embrace this particular approach to tracking vaccinations against the seasonal flu, estimated to kill 36,000 people each year in the United States, principally the elderly. But when Boston bought the monitoring system from a Milwaukee company in 2006, emergency authorities had a far different use in mind: tracking people injured in

A "Dark Winter" for Public Health: Meet Homeland Security's New Bioterror Czarina

Before being pegged by the Obama administration to head DHS's Science and Technology division where she will oversee the department's billion dollar budget, with some 45 percent of it going towards chemical and bioweapons defense, O'Toole, as previously mentioned, was the CEO and Director of UPMC's Center for Biosecurity, a satrapy which describes itself as "an independent organization dedicated to improving the country's resilience to major biological threats."

Parsing the “preparedness” phenomenon - Part 5
nuttyriv3r
by nuttyriv3r  8-12-2009
You get the idea. All of this was simply gathered from a Google News search for "preparedness." This just seems kind of out of control to me. I'm just 30 years old, but I have never seen so much propaganda and social engineering regarding all of this in my short life. What has changed? Climate? Terror? Technology? There must be some ulterior motive or agenda being spear-headed here. It could simply be that this is the only industry left in America. Pitching fear and a remedy. The bigger the fear, the more costly the remedy.

Lifting the Lid on America's Biowarfare Research
thisnamecantbetaken

Reporting guidelines are so lax that dangerous pathogens such as hantavirus, SARS and dengue fever "are not on the select agent list" nor are there requirements "that the theft, loss or release of these agents ... be reported to Federal officials." More recently, Global Security Newswire reported in June that an inventory at USAMRIID at Fort Detrick, Md., "found nearly 10,000 more vials of potentially lethal pathogens than were known to be stored at the site." The Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine was so-alarmed by the prospect that in 2003 they commented, "the possibility for genetic engineering and aerosol transmission suggests an enormous potential for bioterrorism." Unsaid, of course, was the gravest threat posed by such dark research may be state terrorism. Any one of these pathogens should they escape or made to "disappear," could be transformed into a doomsday weapon.

Criminal charges against WHO,UN & big Pharma for Bioterrorism & Intent to Commit Mass Murder. As the anticipated July release date for Baxter's A/H1N1 flu pandemic vaccine approaches, an Austrian investigative journalist is warning the world that the greatest crime in the history of humanity is underway. Jane Burgermeister has recently filed criminal charges with the FBI against the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN), and several of the highest ranking government and corporate officials concerning bioterrorism and attempts to commit mass murder. She has also prepared an injunction against forced vaccination which is being filed in America. These actions follow her charges filed in April against Baxter AG and Avir Green Hills Biotechnology of Austria for producing contaminated bird flu vaccine, alleging this was a deliberate act to cause and profit from a pandemic. Summary of claims and allegations filed with FBI in Austria on June 10, 2009

Conspiracy in Bioterrorism?

Specifically, evidence is presented that the defendants, Barack Obama, President of the U.S, David Nabarro, UN System Coordinator for Influenza, Margaret Chan, Director-General of WHO, Kathleen Sibelius, Secretary of Department of Health and Human Services, Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Department of Homeland Security, David de Rotschild, banker, David Rockefeller, banker, George Soros, banker, Werner Faymann, Chancellor of Austria, and Alois Stoger, Austrian Health Minister, among others, are part of this international corporate criminal syndicate which has developed, produced, stockpiled and employed biological weapons to eliminate the population of the U.S. and other countries for financial and political gain. The charges contend that these defendants conspired with each other and others to devise, fund and participate in the final phase of the implementation of a covert international bioweapons program involving the pharmaceutical companies Baxter and Novartis. Has Bioterrorism Effort Increased Risk of Attack?
Wisco
by Wisco  12-6-2008
Basically, the argument is that, by increasing the number of labs that handle bioweapons, you increase the risk of a bioweapon either being used or released by error. “The simplest, most likely path for an individual or group to acquire a bioweapons capability is to obtain bioweapons agents and training by penetration of a U.S. bioweapons-agents research project,” said Richard H. Ebright , a scientist at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology at Rutgers University in New Jersey. “One well-placed graduate student, post-doctoral fellow or technician... It’s only a matter of time.”

In Non-Front Page News, We Are Likely To Be Nuked Or Germed By Terrorists...

which Congress created last spring in keeping with one of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. The New York Times obtained a copy of the report’s 18-page executive summary. Details from draft chapters of the report on the threat of bioterrorism were published Sunday by The Washington Post. Over all, the findings and recommendations seek to serve as a road map for the Obama administration. “Unless the world community acts decisively and with great urgency, it is more likely than not that a weapon of mass destruction will be used in a terrorist attack somewhere in the world by the end of 2013,” the report states in the opening sentence of the executive summary. I will put this in the "Great advice - now try to take it" file: Several of the recommendations are not new and have been pursued with varying degrees of success by the Bush administration. On Pakistan, for example, the panel urges the Obama administration to work with Pakistan

Dr. Zack Overlooked as Anthrax Suspect
blueridge
by blueridge  8-4-2008    2
This article is worth reading in its entirety. While dated 2002, it may have well been written yesterday, substituting the "suicided" suspect for what back then was Hatfill. The facts are relevant and suggestive. Dr. Zack seems to fit the profile of motive, means, and opportunity (access) , upon reading, then the now deceased. He is also a dual Israeli citizen with an obvious prejudice and gripe against Arabs, even if American citizens with whom he worked. Do not miss the anonymous letter to the FBI that called his Arab co-worker a "bioterrorist", which the FBI considered a hoax after investigation, and how close that sounds to the Anthrax hoax letters that said "Allah is great".

It's designed to show the government there is nothing to worry about. Unless they look at what overuse of antibiotics, and lack of things like clean water and sewerage has done to both the strength of viruses, and the resistance of the people that encounter them.. As far as I can see they're quite happy to see an epidemic hit Africa, or the Subcontinent-there might even be fewer poor. But don't let anything like that come to the west. Unfortunately, a virus does not need a passport or a green card. Ever heard of Typhoid Mary ?
