The Keyboard Commandos want Obama to be tough
ratilfar
by ratilfar  11-5-2009
To Brooks, the big question is whether Obama possesses "the trait that is more important than intellectual sophistication and, in fact, stands in tension with it." That is, whether the president is "a very manly, virile, manful person, and a firm believer in strict discipline, corporal punishment, and nude apartment wrestling." Oops, never mind. That last bit was Captain Ned. But it does get old hearing this cohort of Ivy League toughs -- most of whom one suspects haven't had even a fistfight since third grade -- describe every U.S. foreign policy issue as a testosterone test. One suspects it may not be Obama's virility they're worried about. Next came Cheney's devoted daughter. After President Obama paid a 4 a.m. visit to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to salute the flag-draped caskets of 18 American servicemen arriving home from Afghanistan, and to console their families, Liz Cheney appeared on -- where else? -- Fox News radio to suggest a cheap political stunt.

Glenn Beck Compares Derailing Health Care To Preparing For 9/11

by ratilfar  11-3-2009    1
HERE IS A TRANSCRIPT OF BECK: Ten years ago, I could have shouted every single day about Osama bin Laden and his wacky crazy threats to kill Americans in New York and nobody would have been willing to stand in line two hours while some security officer made grandma take her shoes off. No one would have done it. But don't you see. While the government is still not willing to do these things, today America is different. America has changed. Washington, we're not going to let you get away with it anymore. Look, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Conservatives are awake. 9/12ers are willing to do the hard things. We know what this means! We're taking time out of our busy lives, taking time away from their families, they're attending town hall meetings. Do you think they want to do that? They are calling their representatives. How many times do we have to be yelled at by your people in Washington? They are reading 2,000-page healthcare bills on the weekend. The 9

A Beckean Slip: Confusing the president with bin Laden, while touting theory that Obama is a Marxist
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-28-2009    1
This is what we'll call a Beckean Slip: An apparent slip of the tongue that is most likely intentional, and at the bare minimum clearly exposes the desire to confuse the public. It isn't the first time Beck has slipped and mixed up Osama bin Laden's name with President Obama's. And it certainly won't be the last. However, it does tend to undermine Beck's subsequent claim to having this high-level, all-seeing mind that is "right" about a whole host of things (that he's actually been wrong about). Indeed, it reveals a confused mind incapable of clearly distinguishing between the president of the United States and a cave-dwelling terrorist. Beck also adds that "I could be wrong" but "I haven't been before"? Um, yeah, except for the dozens of times he actually has been wrong. (Remember when he was predicting that Americans would eventually go for McCain at the polls? That prediction turned out well, didn't it?)

U.S. Had Covert Ties to Paki-based Terrorist in Iran Bombing
blueridge
by blueridge  10-24-2009
The terrorist behind the Iran bombing recently was a former covert operative per Robert Baer, former CIA agent of Syriana fame. This is not unlike the former ties with Al Qaeda and bin Laden as covert operatives and "CIA brainchilds". Of course, this was done for provocatory purposes to spark Iran-British-U.S. conflict....and it appears to be working for this design. See Telegraph UK article: Iran vows revenge after claiming bomb attack was carried out by Britain A bomb attack on Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard that killed over 40 people including top generals was carried out by terrorists trained by America and Britain in nearby Pakistan , a senior commander said on Monday. See, "state-sponsored terrorism" can be alleged both ways.

Oct. 23,1983 Lebanese Terrorists Bomb the Marine Barracks in Beirut

. . with Syria. Although the United States had mounted two previous successful peacekeeping operations in Lebanon in 1958 and earlier in 1982 (to facilitate the evacuation of P.L.O. forces from Beirut that had been defeated by Israel), the ignominious end of the MNF intervention brought disastrous consequences. The failure of the peacekeeping mission led to renewed fighting between Lebanese factions and the ascendancy of Hezbollah, backed by Iran and Syria. Moreover, the Marine barracks bombing, which was the deadliest terrorist attack against Americans before the 9/11 attacks, later inspired Osama bin Laden, who viewed the United States as a “paper tiger” because of its rapid withdrawal of peacekeeping forces from Lebanon and Somalia after suffering casualties. Al Qaeda members were later dispatched to Hezbollah training camps in Lebanon, according to the 9/11 Commission Report (p. 68). Posted October 23rd, 2009 in American Leadership.

William Pfaff wrote on September 17, 2001: "Clearly, the United States needs to deal with Mr. bin Laden's terrorist organization, but that is essentially a police and intelligence problem. Long-term United States interests cannot afford a "war" that risks toppling Saudi Arabia and other conservative Islamic regimes into alliance with the radical movements already powerful in Iran, Sudan, Algeria, and influential in Egypt, Pakistan, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa. That, though, is the risk." Now, Pakistan threatens to come unglued and the President is being advised to send in 40,000 troops. What he needs to do is read this article below.

OIL: The Real Purpose for the Afghanistan War and Af-Pak Policy
blueridge

It's not about "terrorism" but an oil pipeline from the Caspian region to Pakistan, thru Afghanistan. The proof is that the invasion was planned before Sept. 11th! This fact should be sufficient to establish Motive, should it not? Now you know why the Taliban and bin Laden got fingered for 9/11, instead of Saudi hijackers, etc. "It's not going to be built until there is a single Afghan government. That's the simple answer." Bush began war in the region in Oct. 2001. May 2002 the BBC reported the immediate result The leaders of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have agreed to construct a $2bn pipeline to bring gas from Central Asia to the sub-continent . Now look at this map of Military and Oil .

Sen. Byrd Challenges Obama's Afghanistan Surge, the Forgotten Bin Laden
blueridge
by blueridge  10-16-2009    4
"The reason for the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan has become lost, consumed in some broader scheme of nation-building" Then point blank: "I am compelled to ask: Does it really take 100,000 U.S. troops to find Osama bin Laden? If al-Qaida has moved to Pakistan, what will these troops sent to Afghanistan add to the effort to 'defeat' al-Qaida?" Can anyone answer that, straight up? In other words, it's contrary to their own propaganda. Will Obama listen to him? : Do recall Sen. Byrd's famous "The Truth Will Emerge" speech opposing war with Iraq --which is now entirely vindicated. mark my words, the calculated intimidation that we see so often of late by the "powers that be" will only keep the loyal opposition quiet for just so long. Because eventually, like it always does, the truth will emerge. And when it does, this house of cards, built of deceit, will fall.

A Simple Observation
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  10-13-2009    2
The war in Afghanistan has become an aimless absurdity. It began with a reason, to find Osama bin Laden. Or so we were told. Since then, he ‘may have’ moved into Pakistan. No one knows for certain. Is it really necessary to continue this seven year long bled letting against a bunch of religious extremists and druglords many of whom have safe haven in Pakistan, only for the occasional victory? Victories that soon are negated by retaliatory actions of many of the same people we are there to ‘bring into the 21st century’. Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s corrupt government skims the very drug trade that funds the indigenous forces NATO forces are fighting against and will therefore never lift a governmental finger to stop it.

A monkey the children loved was run over by one of Osama's men. She watched the television in horror as the Twin Towers fell, claiming the lives of 2,991 people. Najwa says she has not spoken to Osama since the attacks. And this is the kind of animal species, the pals of Obama that exist at Gitmo, yet liberals defend this trash. Incredible. Just revolting.

Analysis: Al Qaeda is The Tip of The Jihadist Spear
merrie
by merrie  10-9-2009    1
Indeed, al Qaeda leaders have long recognized that Mullah Omar is firmly behind them. Abdullah Sa'id, an al Qaeda commander who leads its “Shadow Army,” has openly mocked the idea that Mullah Omar would betray al Qaeda now. “US and Western sources talk about their readiness to accept the Taliban in the Afghan future political structure should it leave the Al Qaeda," he has said. But that is not reality, Sa'id explained: “However, these sources close the eyes to the fact that Mullah Mohammad Omar has lost his throne upon his refusal to hand over one person who is Osama bin Laden. Thus, will Mullah Mohammad Omar agree to a condition which he refused when he used to rule and when the United States was at the top of its might, and accept it now while he is on the threshold of a victory over his enemies?” Sa'id’s calculation is plain. Mullah Omar would not agree to turn over bin Laden when he was faced with the prospect of imminent annihilation.

8 Troops Killed In Afghanistan; Remote Outposts Attacked
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-4-2009
Nuristan, bordering Pakistan, was where a militant raid on another outpost in July 2008 claimed the lives of nine American soldiers and led to allegations of negligence by their senior commanders. Army Gen. David Petraeus last week ordered a new investigation into that fighting, in which some 200 militants armed with machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars pushed their way into the base, which is no longer operating. The region was key for Arab militants who battled alongside Afghan warriors during the 1980s U.S.-backed war against invading Russians because it is a rare place in South Asia where the Wahhabi sect of Islam is practiced – the same sect followed by Osama bin Laden and most Saudis.

Happy is whoever learns a lesson from the mistakes committed by others. Modest precautions are better than expensive follow-up care. Returning to truth is better than insisting on falsehood. Germany Hit With "al-Qaida" Pre-election Propaganda
blueridge
by blueridge  9-22-2009    2
Watch for a false-flag event in Germany if Merkel loses ( remember Spain's 3-11 here for backing out of Iraq), which this propaganda is actually designed to help by inciting fear of terrorism and pushing necessary war , by manufacturing an Islamist enemy (beardless youth in suit and tie for the first time) with a domestic terrorism threat in a timely presentation-- all pushed by the government and media , instead of censored! Just who does this propaganda benefit the most? In fact, the "powers that be" do want people to remember Madrid's 3/11, "vote for Merkel, or else". Note the issue is AFGHANISTAN, German people now largely opposing their war presence there (just as a majority in the U.S. and UK does). This is typical FEAR propaganda that always preceded Bush and Congressional elections, allegedly from Bin Laden or Al Qaeda, but always stoking war fever for the neoconservative-Israeli agenda.

"Fantastic," exclaims Obama, "that's right. And can you tell me WHY that would be a TRAGEDY?" "Well," says the boy, "because it wouldn't be an accident, and it certainly would be no great loss."

Najibullah Zazi Admitted Receiving 'Weapons and Explosives' Training From al-Qaeda
merrie
by merrie  9-20-2009    1
The FBI and NYPD grew alarmed that Zazi and his possible co-conspirators might be planning an imminent attack when they found backpacks and cell phones in an apartment. They also learned that Afzali and other Zazi associates tried to rent a 26-foot U-Haul truck the day before Zazi arrived in Queens. "The FBI is investigating several individuals in the United States, Pakistan and elsewhere, relating to a plot to detonate improvised explosive devices in the United States," the Justice Department revealed Sunday. Najibullah Zazi, whose high-profile 28 hours of voluntary questioning last week by prosecutors in Denver broke off suddenly on Saturday, told probers he was trained by Al Qaeda in August 2008 at a camp in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas, the government charged. A laptop found in Zazi's rental car, which the NYPD seized last weekend, contained images of handwritten bomb-making notes, the FBI said. Zazi e-mailed the notes to himself using an account . .

Statements by Berlusconi and other's in his administration appear contradictory. But on Italian TV he said: "We are all convinced it's best for everybody to get out soon." While it makes a lot of sense to want to capture and/or kill Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda leadership, George Bush twisted that into War in Iraq and this War in Afghanistan...and it seems the guys we're looking for aren't in either of those places. So Western Pakistan is also being ripped up. Of course the war in Iraq we know was built on deliberately fabricated lies....the beating of war drums to start a War in Iran is built on propaganda and lies (Iran has no WMD's)...and much of this appears to be excuses for old-fashioned imperialism. Old-fashioned imperialism sucks, imo.
