Though educated and with experience in banking, Muna is unable to find work in her field, but knowing that she must become independent, continues to search for employment, finally finding a job at a local fast food restaurant. Tensions build as Muna, ashamed, tries to hide her place of work from her son and sister; as Fadi deals with bullying bigots at school; and as her sister's family begins to unravel in response to the pressures of the war, and the enormous hardships resulting from anti-Arab bias. Through it all, Muna not only survives, but remains hopeful and thankful for each kind gesture from strangers and new-found friends who come to her assistance in ways small and not so small.

POPSFinal word: Democrats are Worse Than Republicans It has been argued that the Democratic party is only about two degress left of the Republican party. Even is it is true, it is only true in a politically useless way. Their point of view on reproductive rights depends on if they are talking to religious bigots or progressives. Obama panders to the right-wing on health care for undocumented workers, who are, as usual, good enough to work for slave wages and pay into the system, but not good enough to receive benefits. On the issue of the war there could not be any clearer expression of the operational similarities between the Democrats and Republicans. This country is sorely in need of an independent, working class oriented, political movement that relentlessly attacks exploitation and oppression everywhere it rears its head. And the first step toward that is to lose all illusions in the Democratic Party, and stop providing any kind of left cover for them.

If we didn’t know it we would think the photos were taken in the U.S. Anonymous comment (therefore unverifiable) lists some of Mexico’s immigration laws: - There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, and all government business will be conducted in our language. - Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote, no matter how long they are here. - Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, nor any other government assistance programs. - You are not allowed to own waterfront property. That property is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country. - Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no "bad-mouthing" our president or his policies. - If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.

What Williams and States did was a clear abuse of the right to free speech and thankfully a large number of people get it. Sure they have the right to their say but their sponsors need to understand that when their money affords the platform for spreading this cesspool of hate they too are tainted by it. Just because there is a law that doesn’t prohibit hate speech doesn’t mean you should participate in it.

Hmmm, let me see: a "death penalty for the abortionist." Some things really haven't changed much since 1933. Back then, it was the Nazis condemning "abortionists" to death. Today, it's the extremist, hate-filled evangelical "Christian" bigots whose twisted rhetoric is encouraging violence against doctors who practice abortion.
