Miller Time
merrie
by merrie  10-18-2009
Sure, the last Beer Summit was an empty political gesture, something Obama was forced into after he stepped in it.* This one could actually be meaningful, if everyone behaves, sincerely tries to become a better person … which is asking a lot, I know. Likelihood of it happening? Zip. But maybe the White House Press Corps, which initiated the last Beer Summit, could try to prompt this one. By asking the president about it, like they did last time. Checking Google news, not seeing that has happened. * Boston Herald, take a bow. Fired the twin rockets of Sgt. Crowley’s distinctly unracist past and his position as a police academy racial profiling instructor that blew up that race thing in Gates’ and Obama’s faces. I remember watching Gates on CNN that afternoon, and the president at his press conference that night, thinking, “Have a good time, guys. Rockets impact in the a.m.” If Skip had just returned our calls …

Recovery from Addiction
StewiePratt
by StewiePratt  10-13-2009
 1. Tired of feeling like hell in the morning. 2. Tired of looking as bad as I felt each morning. 3. Tired of going into work trying to keep my distance from people because I knew that I still reeked of alcohol. 4. Tired of getting DWIs. 5. Tired of living in fear and worrying about if I was going to go to jail for a long period of time because of the next DWI. 6. Tired of wrecking cars and praying that I would not injure or kill someone. 7. Tired of spending all my money on alcohol, lawyers and courts. 8. Tired of trying to convince myself that I could go out and just have a few beers. 9. Tired of waking up full of self hatred because once again I had failed to ‘just have a few’. 10. Tired of calling in sick to work, when both my boss and I knew the truth. ....... www.mental-health-tips.info

resurgence (Johnson), and under threat of other varieties of violent, disaffected white supremacist extremism (U.S. Department of Homeland Security). Barack Obama is smart enough to know this is not true. He knows he has sold his initiative poorly, that his timing is bad and his politicking is worse. At some point in the not-too-distant future, whether his health-care plan continues to crash and burn or is resurrected in a new figleaf evolution, the president needs tell the nation that it is OK to disagree with him, that political dissent and even anger do not equal racism. Not simply as a throwaway remark in an interview with a TV news anchor, or an aside in speech. He could invite U.S. representatives Joe Wilson and Johnson, former President Carter, New York Times scribbler Dowd, shrill standup act Garfalo and a lot of Tea Party organizers over for beers, but that approach was trite before he tried it last time, and this situation is more serious than a

Why Doesn't Waxman Intervene To Limit Baseball--NAY ALL SPORT'S SALARIES!?
merrie
by merrie  8-21-2009    1
Obama - who knows about as much about baseball as I do about the mating habits of pterodactyls - would sign it. DONE DEAL! Then they could do all the other sports. AND THEN FASHION: AFTER ALL, CLOTHING IS A NECESSITY: SO WHY SHOULD DESIGNERS AND RETAILING EXECUTIVES MAKE A LOT OF MONEY!?! AND WHATTABOUT RESTAURANTS!? FOOD IS A NECESSITY, SO LET'S PUT A PRICE CAP ON EVERY DISH!!!!! This is the natural progress of leftist logic, so called. And it's dangerous. It's a grave and clear and present danger to our country. It must be stopped. - Posted by Reliapundit

White House to Turn Rose Garden into Beer Garden
foxyarse
by foxyarse  7-28-2009
"He did it to me," said Roger Cummings, leading candidate for editor of the Harvard Law Review until he ran against Obama for the position. "I never even drank alcohol before I met Obama. Not until he found out we were the two leading contenders for the editor's desk at the Harvard Law Review." Cummings says that, that is when Obama began to pal up to him, inviting him over to his fraternity house. "Frat house? I never even made it to the steps of the front porch," said Cummings. "There where white tents on the front and back lawns. And Beer banners from all over the world. The whole night was a drunken haze. I lost my virginity that night and I don't know with who or what. Obama hasn't told me to this day, thank God." According to Cunnings, Obama only calls him up to ask him for a little favor. "And if I refuse, he threatens to tell me who or what I slept with that night," said a terrified Cummings. As his office phone rang, he jumped out of his seat and slowly moved towar

Free stuff in the SF Bay Area: Johnny Funcheap's favorite things to do
Lexica
by Lexica  7-19-2009
From the SF Bay Guardian's annual Free Issue. More: get sweaty by donning your blades or old-school roller skates and join the Midnight Rollers' weekly Friday Night Skate. A large group of skaters embark from the Ferry Plaza on a 10-mile dance party/skate tour of the city, which includes plenty of stops for ice cream, Frisbee-throwing, and a chance for slowpokes to catch up… Macy's Union Square puts on free monthly cooking demonstrations in the Cellar, where top local chefs reveal their secrets for dishing up creative yet healthy meals. Not only do you get to learn skills like how to barbecue like a grill master, expertly pair chocolate and wine, or make a brunch worth waking up early for, you also get to sample the yummy delights the experts have cooked up. It's like watching your favorite cooking show on the Food Network, but getting to magically reach inside the TV to grab a taste.

Legal Drinking & Driving
melformosa
by melformosa  7-17-2009
I just had a frustrating conversation with a Costa Mesa Police Officer who would NOT tell me it was illegal to drink and drive... because it is NOT! This was shocking information to me, mostly because I would love to be able to tell my 33 year old daughter that it is NOT legal for her to drink a beer and hop in the car with my grandson! No dice, I can't tell her that, she has already informed me it is legal... and she is right.
