The misuse of religion gives an insight into the way they handle taking someone's last cents, before sending them to jail for not being rich. They would also believe that there is a special place in the afterlife for them and it is all good. They don't believe in suffering now to achieve glory in the next life (Mother Theresa and those types can have all of that - and a small donation - will suffice) The bonuses will be awarded to compensate workers for having to listen to people who seemed to have morals, over the last couple of years; and a reward for adjusting to honesty until the smoke cleared.

POPSthe giant hole What this argument leaves out is Fannie and Freddie. The evil and greedy bankers (curiously intent on making loans that could not be repaid) were able to sell these loans to Fannie and Freddie. If there had not been these quasi-governmental corporations backing them they would not have been making loans and they would never have been capitalized. It may be true that there was a "giant hole" in the safety net, but the truck that drove through it was financed by the government's own creatures.

POPSFinal word: Democrats are Worse Than Republicans It has been argued that the Democratic party is only about two degress left of the Republican party. Even is it is true, it is only true in a politically useless way. Their point of view on reproductive rights depends on if they are talking to religious bigots or progressives. Obama panders to the right-wing on health care for undocumented workers, who are, as usual, good enough to work for slave wages and pay into the system, but not good enough to receive benefits. On the issue of the war there could not be any clearer expression of the operational similarities between the Democrats and Republicans. This country is sorely in need of an independent, working class oriented, political movement that relentlessly attacks exploitation and oppression everywhere it rears its head. And the first step toward that is to lose all illusions in the Democratic Party, and stop providing any kind of left cover for them.
