Seminoles outscore N.C. State 45-42
jatfla
by jatfla  10-31-2009
What a lame article. It was a fantastic game. Neck & neck the whole time. Ponder has been injured it seems like forever and he got pounded several times. He looked like a dead-man walking sometimes. With 5 seconds to go, no time outs, and NC State working for a Tie, their quarterback threw the long ball. In the end zone the ball bounced around, popping up and FSU gets the interception!!! While I rarely watch football anymore, the game was a nail-biter for this one who is wanting Bobby Bowden to finish well. As the commentators said several times during the game...he deserves to coach as long as he desire and retire on his terms. He put FSU on the map, helped contribute financially to the college, built a strong program, and has been a wonderful mentor to many young men. OK sports fans...signing off. :~)

Michelle Obama to get massive liposuction to reduce her ass size!
foxyarse
by foxyarse  10-14-2009    1
Others mentioned that the real reason was the cost of retro-fitting 75 toilets in the White House to accommodate her large ass, as it would would cost taxpayers $10 million dollars! Ben Caudwelt, a spokesman for the President's environmental issues committee, re-assured green-minded supporters that all the fat that was to be removed from Obama's ass would be re-cycled into clean burning bio-diesel fuel and would be enough fuel to give the State of Illinois energy independence for almost a year! Al Gore issued his own statement in support of the Obama camp's 'green' effort and promised to talk to his wife Tipper about her helping Tennessee become as energy independent. The United Truckers Union has promised to have all union trucks using the special fuel display the signage....Ass For Gas! Proudly Powered by Michelle Obama!

Big Ben Rings in 1st NFL Victory.
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  9-11-2009
'Big Ben," Roethlisberger, came from behind in overtime to lead his team to victory in the first game of the new NFL season. Soooo....many of us thank our God that USA football has begun again. This is a good link to it. The HD video replays are fantastic. Big Ben beat my home state's team in last year's Superbowl. How my home state's team got into the Superbowl was initially a profound mystery and great surprise to all. But, as the game showed, they had "spunk." When down, they fought back. (I always admire that in athletics we can see it so clearly). We were, six (6) seconds from a Superbowl Victory...and Big Ben drove down the field (impressive, like a tank). Six seconds to go. Touchdown needed. He threw this pass. It seemed too high. It seemed out of bounds. The receiver was surrounded by 3 highly agitated opponents -- but leaping like a basketball player, caught the ball and while his body fell out of bounds, toes of both feet 1st touched mere inches in bounds.

Live In South Florida - Only Rich Need Apply
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  9-5-2009    1
Reading this article, made me conclude that So Florida has a plan to rid itself of working class dwellers. OMG, it's easy, raise taxes, insurance, utilities, everything under the tropical sun to a level that only well-off families can afford. I swear So. Florida’s leaders… want to rid paradise of commoners, so there’s more room for the blue-blooded beautiful people with fat wallets. Sound too farfetched, too birther, too death panel, too teabagger, too (oh what the heck) conspiracy theorist? Probably, and we sure as hell don't need another one of those nut-ball, butt-ball townhall myths floating around. But it’s strange to figure out why the cost of living in paradise is becoming beyond most people’s shallow pockets. I lived there for 19 years and was able to make ends meet. Today that’s not a can do. I’m glad I got the hell out while the gettin was good. But maybe there’s a silver lining here, because it’s only the filthy rich who will monetarily be able to withstand the BIG HIT.

Dems Brace for HealthCare "Reform" CBO Score
merrie
by merrie  6-12-2009
Healthcare industry groups have vowed to offer $2 trillion in cost reductions over 10 years to help pay for healthcare reform, but the details of those savings have not been ironed out and some are skeptical they will ever be realized. One Democratic aide suggested that Baucus could find the money using CBO scoring. The push within Democratic ranks to ignore CBO faces a major obstacle in Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. Conrad would have to agree to shelve the CBO cost estimate and issue his own, a seldom-used process known as directed scoring. But Conrad, a longtime stickler on budget discipline, has stated in no uncertain terms that he will not cast aside the CBO score. Conrad said he has not yet been pressured to change his commitment to use CBO’s score. The Bush OMB score was nearly $140 billion more than the CBO’s estimate. White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is headed by Peter Orszag

AP: Spies Compromised U.S. Power Grid
dgreplay
by dgreplay  4-8-2009
WTF?! This is absurd. Our power grids are outdated and obviously vulnerable to state sponsored terrorism (call it what you want, thats what it is). What do we have to do to convince our "leaders" to ram legislation through Congress and mandate an overhaul of our national power system? Nails all of O's agenda too: economy, jobs, energy, education, and now, homeland security (I know, health care not part of it, but you get the point). C'mon you elected officials...can someone please take the ball on this and run already?

James Adkisson is sentenced to life in prison for opening fire on a Unitarian congregation and murdering 2 human beings. Many intuited that Adkisson's rampage was exactly the kind of rancid fruit that would inevitably take root in an American countryside thickly composted with two decades of hate radio bullshit. That suspicion was verified in the days that followed, when police searched Adkisson's apartment and found it filled with books and newsletters penned by Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and other right-wing hate talkers. Our radio hate talkers incited a man to commit an act of terrorism. Just sit a minute and take that in. And it doesn't sound all that dissimilar to a rant (minus the death threat) directed at me recently for posting a clip challenging conservative orthodoxy: "You and your socialist friends are America’s main enemy, more so than Al Qaeda."

Simply incorrigible

It is hard to know how a dialogue can exist with this kind of ignorance. Marx called socialism only a "stepping stone" to communism. The Progressive movement consists of the administrative state moving the ball from Capitalism, to Socialism, to Communism. Socialism is the description of the movement, not the state. The National Socialists (Wilson, Hitler, Mussolini, and definitely Obama are statists and seek to fulfill the socialist agenda. The Socialists, Communists, and Fascists all know this and that is why they all supported Obama. This is a fact. Just check their websites. I hope the Masbury Redux will be an informative blog allowing us all to learn the profound delusion that exists in some minds. Especially those who believe we have to repeat the same agenda for a fascist grab that was attempted in the 20s and 30s.

The Media's Role In The Financial Crisis
Lexica
by Lexica  1-24-2009
More: So in Florida, Arizona and California, among other epicenters of the housing bubble, newspapers might have told their readers -- including governmental officials -- the difficult truth. They could have explained, again and again, that the housing bubble would inevitably lead, at least locally, to personal financial disaster for many in their regions, not to mention fiscal woes for local and state governments. How many should have done this, given the media's at least partial reliance on advertising from those who profited from the bubbles? Any that cared to do their jobs…the threat to New Orleans from hurricane-created flooding was clear long before Katrina, and the New Orleans Times-Picayune did run a series of articles warning of what might happen years before the hurricane struck. What it didn't do was follow up in the relentless kind of way that might have spurred local, state and federal action to prevent or mitigate the inevitable disaster.

Mark Steyn: Our Permanent State Of Routine Emergency
merrie
by merrie  1-17-2009
Likewise, when everything's an emergency, nothing is: We live in a permanent state of routine emergency. The Obama administration doesn't have to do anything terribly transformative – It could just sit there, and America would still drift remorselessly, incrementally left, inch by inch. Eventually, you reach a tipping point: At some point in the next four years, we will reach a situation where the majority of Americans pay no federal income tax but are able to vote themselves more goodies from those who do. The most basic of conservative principles is that if you reward bad behavior you get more of it. We're now told that the problem with the last New Deal is that it was too small, so Obama's new New Deal has to be even bigger. That's like telling New Orleans that the problem is they're not far enough below sea level so they need to dig deeper. To facilitate the stimulus, I urge him to declare every American his own individual federal disaster area.

Barack Obama: The Audacity of Hoops
Lexica
by Lexica  1-16-2009
More: When he became the first African-American elected to head the Harvard Law Review, he won a 19th-ballot victory largely because conservative and liberal factions both believed he'd give them a fair hearing. At least a few fellow students had taken his measure on the court. "He was a passer despite the fact he could score," remembers classmate Andrew Feldstein. " Inclusive is the best way to describe him."… Last summer McLachlin, Obama's high school coach, asked an AP reporter to relay a message to the candidate: In 40 years of coaching he'd learned that there's no such thing as the perfect coach, but there is such a thing as a perfect staff if you surround yourself with people who are good at what you're not. "People seem to agree he's done an amazing job of putting together a Cabinet," says the old coach. "It says a lot about why so many people latched on to him as a dream-giver. Because he's honest about his shortcomings, he can reach for the stars."

Show Me Your Papers - Nazi Germany in America
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  12-28-2008    5
Building more jails and prisons, was always an acceptable practice. After all, how can “they” protect “their” citizens from evil criminals? That’s what we were led to believe. Today, prisons are being built strictly for profit, right under our noses, without our knowledge. Each person’s body they imprison will give the state or county an extra amount of money, so of course the objective is to fill these jails to capacity or overcapacity. Isn’t this a nice legal way to obtain revenue even though it smells of Nazi style fascism? It reminds me of the uproar the “Reagan era system”, created by claiming, poor women have babies just to get an increase in their monthly welfare checks. What a stigma that was on mothers living in poverty, standing in line at the bank to cash their monthly living allotment. The shame the government, OUR GOVERNMENT heaped upon such families, simply because they asked for a helping hand from a coldhearted system. (more below) or http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com

And just what "fundamental right" is that Mr. Brown. The right to change the definition of marriage. Just take your civil unions and go home. Let's say I want to go play golf. My friends invite me to their home course to play. But when I get there they see that I have brought a bowling ball. I say, "I want to play golf, but I want to use a bowling ball." My friends tell me no. They say, "you are welcome to play golf with us but this is how it played." They then lay out the rules and what equipment is proper. I say, "I don't want to follow the rules that have been established. Instead I want you to change the rules of golf so that I can use this 16 pound bowling ball. And if you don't I will sure you for denying my right to play."
