Koala Love Story Wins Hearts After Deadly Aussie Fires
merrie
by merrie  2-11-2009    2
Sam was taken to the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter in Rawson. Colleen Wood from the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter that is caring for Sam and Bob said both koalas were doing well while other animals like possums, kangaroos, and wallabies were also starting to emerge from the debris. "They keep putting their arms around each other and giving each other hugs. They really have made friends and it is quite beautiful to see after all this. It's been horrific," said Wood. "Sam is probably aged between two to four going by her teeth and Bob is about four so they have a muchness with each other." Wood said about 20 koalas had been brought into her shelter in recent days, several of whom had bonded as koalas are known to clump together, but none had garnered the same attention as the new Internet star Sam. At Least 84 Killed in Australian Wildfires
merrie
by merrie  2-8-2009    1
The temperature Saturday reached 46 degrees Celsius, and combined with raging winds created perfect conditions for giant fires. Southeastern Australia is one of the world's most fire-prone regions. Hot summer conditions have been exacerbated by a long-standing drought. A recent report from the Australian Institute of Criminology shows that about 30,000 fires are started by arsonists each year, causing a billion dollars-worth of damage. The Institute recommends better education campaigns in the community and schools.

Blossom Goodchild predicts mass UFO on 14 oct 2008 or thereabout

This is one sensational piece of news or event or non-event to take place. The fact that a well known writer and actress (Australian) is putting this out - with a very short window time , with little to gain and much to lose (if did not turn out true) makes it more intriguing. For me it is better to read about it more in detail than to be caught unprepared - if it turned out true . If it turned out tru (time will tell) it is the BIGGEST event of our life for sure. If it didn't happen - just laugh about it. But the messenger appears serious and if it was a hoax it is very well thought out. Please read and pass it to others.
