POPSLee Sandlin: Losing the War Quite long – click through for the full essay. More: I figured people had to know the basics -- World War II isn't exactly easy to miss. It was the largest war ever fought, the largest single event in history. Other than the black death of the Middle Ages, it's the worst thing we know of that has ever happened to the human race. Its aftereffects surround us in countless intertwining ways… So what did the people I asked know about the war? Nobody could tell me the first thing about it. Once they got past who won they almost drew a blank. All they knew were those big totemic names -- Pearl Harbor, D day, Auschwitz, Hiroshima -- whose unfathomable reaches of experience had been boiled down to an abstract atrocity. The rest was gone… I think what my little survey really demonstrates is how vast the gap is between the experience of war and the experience of peace.

POPS New Mindset Needed To Defeat Terror
Afghan-born Al-Qaida operative named Najibullah Zazi, precisely the enemy Bush spoke of in 2001. Throughout the course of this investigation by the FBI and New York City Police Department, we have heard that Zazi had several pages of hand-written notes of bomb-making instructions inside a computer that he kept in his possession. He allegedly wrote those notes last year when attended an al-Qaida training camp in Pakistan. "You're talking about subway stations, public places where potentially thousands of people could be killed," said former FBI agent Brad Garrett. "And in addition to that, when you add multiple locations, you're talking about potentially a horrendous number of people dying.” Since Zazi’s arrest, federal agents have tracked down a number of beauty supply stores in Colorado where Zazi and accomplices purchased unusually large quantities of hydrogen peroxide and acetone, which would be used to create improvised explosive devices and weapons of mass . . .

POPSCulture of Terror: the Collapse of America ~ I
This great betrayal has taken our “progressive” culture, with “the giant” of applied science lurking over everyone’s sense of the possible and turned it to fatalism. These betrayals have led to “multiculturalism” and the balkanization both of nations, and families, the better to centralize power and to scramble all states into a World “Commonwealth” where power, control and resources are monopolized by an oligarchy; those closer to the labyrinth’s center having greater amounts of all material and social perks and greater immunity from “law.” The dogma of “relativism,” gussied up as “situational ethics” means in effect that the law is the will of those with most power and that reason is an instrument of will and thus of appetites; that the rationales of this new State are thus insane, acts of wanton atrocity, to quote Melville in the epigraph. This deification of the will is a radical subversion of the principles of law, justice and righteousness, as well as charity rooted in Scri

POPSMegrahi Expected to Reveal the True Identity of the Lockerbie Bomber The source said: “Not only was Abu Elias known to the Americans, but what if he was working for them? The guy comes into the US from the former Soviet Union, he’s the nephew of Ahmed Jibril – the Bin Laden of his day – and he just strolls into the US? “I think they turned him, and I think he operated as a double agent." Khreeshat said if they had waited one more day, they would have got Elias in the Autumn Leaves raid. Goben says Elias put the bomb into Jafar’s case without his knowledge. “Abu Elias was a prime suspect. An American double agent was responsible for bringing down an American plane. How good a reason for a cover-up would that be?” http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-327765978162851498

POPSA strange smell over Locherbie murders I am no legal expert but things about this case have never seemed answered to any thinking persons satisfaction. Get away from the revulsion and gut reactions for once and enquire of the evidence. It does not stack up and ought to be placed before a body independent enough to review it dispassionately. I make no judgments or other observations except that already mentioned.

POPSFred Thompson on ObamaCare Atrocity Betsy McCaughey, one of the very few who have read the entire ObamaCare bill, details a few of the Naziesque horrors our progressive leaders would like to inflict on us! GovernmentCare’s Assault on Seniors By Betsy McCaughey Since Medicare was established in 1965, access to care has enabled older Americans to avoid becoming disabled and to travel and live independently instead of languishing in nursing homes. But legislation now being rushed through Congress"H.R. 3200 and the Senate Health Committee Bill"will reduce access to care, pressure the elderly to end their lives prematurely, and doom baby boomers to painful later years. The Congressional majority wants to pay for its $1 trillion to $1.6 trillion health bills with new taxes and a $500 billion cut to Medicare. This cut will come just as baby boomers turn 65 and increase Medicare enrollment by 30%.

POPSEx-Israel troops: Army used reckless force in Gaza The Israeli military rejected the report in a strongly worded statement, questioning its veracity and accusing the group of "defaming and slandering the IDF and its commanders." Strongly worded statement? 1500 against 12 deaths? And how many were wounded and left without their homes? Even such words as atrocity, massacre or bloodbath cannot express what was done to the defenseless humans. People of Israel and Jews in whole world must say (and already started to say as we can see from this clip) their own strong words about their own criminals-in-charge. Now shadow of genocide blanketing each of their supporters and there is no status of limitation for the crimes against humanity.

POPSRape as a Weapon of War in Congo I think it is safe to say that those who participate in this atrocity have devolved into something less than human. How much longer can the rest of the world sit back on its pampered laurels and allow this atrocity to continue? How much longer can we stomach the animalistic enslavement of women by saying it is their country therefore it is none of our business? The U.S. has ignored this tenet many times when it is to their benefit. But unfortunately, the U.S. weighs the safety of helpless victims against how resource-rich their nation is. For surely if the Congo had oil reserves coveted by the U.S. we would be occupying them, and saving at least a majority of these women from their hell, instead of occupying Iraq. Rape represents a grave lack of respect for human life and dignity. To use it as a tool of war is both a war crime and a crime against humanity. To allow it to continue lessens the value of our humanity.

POPSRush Limbaugh Tells Jews to Get Over the Holocaust Rush Limbaugh defended Germany for the Holocaust. Now, this would have to be Hitler’s Germany. Because modern Germany would neither condone nor sponsor another such atrocity. He will grab at anything that supports the degradation of a democrat even if he has to publicly defend one of the most psychotic, murderous personalities in history. Amazing. He must be off his meds. I truly hope that explains this. I wonder if there was ever a time in Limbaugh’s miserable life when he really believed it was best to forget history. Oh. I know one. When he was busted abusing prescription drugs after proselytizing about how drug abusers should be thrown in jail. Wouldn’t it be great if we can ignore the fact that Limbaugh ever got into broadcasting?

POPS Prince Harry Meets 9-11 Families at Ground Zero In a sombre start to his two-day visit of the city, Harry bowed his head and observed a minute's silence after placing the memorial on the fence where the World Trade Centre once stood... Before laying the wreath on the wire fence, he spoke to families of those killed in the attack. Speaking before his arrival, Monica Iken, a 39-year-old New Yorker who lost her husband Michael in the atrocity, said it was fantastic Harry was making the effort to attend the site. She said: 'It is great he wanted to come here and show that people still care, and it shows respect to our loved one that died on that day.' After observing a minute's silence, the prince took a step back and bowed again. He was then taken to see designs of the proposed building which will replace the World Trade Centre.

POPSIsraeli "reprisals death ratio" INFINITY for Gaza & USS Liberty
The Israeli “reprisals death ratio” in the current Gaza Massacre (1,220 Gazans killed versus NO Israelis killed by Gaza rockets in the previous year) is 1,220/0 = INFINITY, the same as for the 1967 Israeli USS Liberty Massacre. Aggressor military machines keep their military personnel happy, generate terror and attempt to smash resistance by disproportionate reprisals against their enemies. This can be measured by a “reprisals death ratio” of “enemy deaths”/’own deaths”. As set out below, the aggressor “reprisals death ratio” was (A) 10 (Nazis in Italy, 1944) and (B) 5,000 (UK after the Indian Mutiny, 1857) but for (C) the current Israeli Gaza Massacre it is INFINITY – 1,220 Gazans killed in response to NO (0) Israeli deaths from Gaza rockets in the previous year, the same as for (D) in 1967 when the Israelis deliberately murdered 34 USS Liberty sailors despite NO Israeli deaths from the non-hostile, defenceless Americans located in international watets ... POPSProtests over BART shooting turn violent The transit police officer who committed this atrocity in front of witnesses quit the force and now they are claiming he has no obligation to answer to his actions? A person is dead and the person who took his life does not have to answer for it? This is wrong and he needs to stand before a judge and answer to his accusers. How can there be justification for shop owners to lose their business or innocent individuals to lose their vehicles because a persons life was wrongly taken by police? This mob mentality that instigates the random attacks of innocent individuals is criminal. A civilized society needs to punish the wrongdoers not the innocent. This mob became as guilty as the system they are protesting. There is a 10 minute video covering the riot and video by witnesses of the actual shooting.
