POPSAnalysis: Why Everyone Is Saying No To Obama The only thing Obama did manage to get Bibi and Abbas to say yes to is a photo-op at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in NY. Mazel tov. So why is everyone saying no to Obama? It's the economy, stupid. Everyone has worked it out by now: The great secret is out. America's economy has made Obama a weak president, and he will likely remain weak throughout his first term. He has about two years to pull the American economy out of its free-fall before he begins his reelection campaign. If he can do it, and that's a big if, chances are good that he'll get reelected, and in his second term he can try to pull some geopolitical strings. But for the next three years, expect to see a world that says no to Obama. No meaningful and dramatic diplomatic initiative can come out of the White House in the next three years, as long as Obama remains weak. And that's a real pity, because there are some serious and imminent issues that need to be addressed.

POPSAnalysis: Why everyone is saying no to Obama the Israelis said no by refusing to agree to a settlement freeze, or even a settlement moratorium until and unless the Arabs ante up their normalization gestures. Which brings us back to the original Saudi no. The only thing Obama did manage to get Bibi and Abbas to say yes to is a photo-op at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in NY. Mazel tov.

POPSBaby, You're Home *shudder* This brings back memories of my second labor. I laid in the hospital through 3 shifts because my daughter was posterior, and I can remember vomiting and thinking goodbye cruel world cause I'm gonna die and I don't care as long as my baby makes it.

POPSThe Michelle Obama Middle Class Tax Cut Diet And to do so, the Obamas need to take the extra dough from Joe the Plumber, who I guess surpassed the threshold for the American dream, and spread the wealth around (and you can be sure the Obama's are experts at "spreading the wealth around" :D as only they can) ;)

POPSFDIC Could be as unstable as the banks Everyone needs to take note: the FDIC which insures all the banks that hold our money is very close to failure itself. Slow banks runs are already happening all over the U.S.

POPSBurnt Hendrix guitar to be sold in London Hendrix, who died in 1970, burnt two guitars on stage - he repeated the stunt at a festival later in 1967 - but the one to be auctioned is the only example that survives intact. ( Surprising that one remains after the fires, but intact?)

POPSHillary Clinton Gushes Over Oregon's Green Leadership Clinton praised Portland for cutting its greenhouse emissions from 1990 levels. And she said she wants to get 25 percent of the nation's electricity from renewable energy such as solar and wind by 2025 -- which is called for in Oregon law. "Oregon is already doing it," she said. Michael Grainey, director of the state Department of Energy, said the 2005 federal law "clearly pre-empts" Oregon's authority to decide on an LNG project. But the state does have some ability under the coastal law to challenge the projects, such as the one proposed near Astoria.

POPSSave Hotel Penn Hotel Pennsylvania being threatened with demolition. Home to several conventions and much history (including the oldest phone number still in use!), many people are trying to persuade the city to grant it landmark status. (from the forum, http://talk.hope.net) "The hotel was designed by the prominent architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White, which also completed landmark properties such as the Waldorf Astoria, the original Pennsylvania Railroad Station, Pierpont Morgan Library, Columbia University and the United States Post Office Building on Eighth Ave. " "New York's Hotel Pennsylvania has kept the same telephone number since 1919, which was immortalized in the 1938 Glenn Miller hit "Pennsylvania 6-5000", and is the oldest phone number still in use today." The Waldorf Astoria has already been granted the landmark status. Will Hotel Penn be given the same chance?

POPS Justice Usurped Also in the files was an editorial of March 31, 2000, that appeared in the Forward. Headlined "Toasting a Tyrant," it appeared on the eve of a "festive" lunch at the Waldorf-Astoria hosted by the Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation honoring the strongman who had ruled Yemen since 1990, Ali Abdullah Saleh. Americans may debate whether Mr. al-Badawi deserves to get a criminal trial in a New York courtroom or to rot at Guantanamo Bay until the end of the war. But it seems clear that a man America has charged with killing 17 American sailors should meet justice at the hands of America, rather than at the hands of the Yemeni interior ministry. The Yemeni government might or might not be more lenient than America. American justice is not perfect. But neither is it likely that, once in the grasp of America,a person accused of killing 17 American sailors would be left to receive well-wishers in his home after pledging loyalty to a dictator.

POPSAnyone with a good local pharmacy, help! I called our awesome local pharmacy in Astoria to see if they had any on the shelves, as they've been keeping me in plenty of my trusted real abuterol (with CFCs, but it works better), but no luck on the Cylert. If you have a good local pharmacy that you think might stock Cylert (aka Pemoline), or are in another country which hasn't banned it, please call to see if there is any available. If there is, contact Len directly through his twitter account or comment here and I'll get in touch with him. The phonecall to my local pharmacy took 5 min. Please take a few minutes if you can, it could save a life!
