If you are so inclined, there's a petition at the website that you can sign to help end this vicious cycle. Gotta go, so I can look into what's involved in adopting one of these dogs. Sheesh! it's the last thing I need, another critter... Oh well!

POPSDog saves master with heimlich maneuver It was given the dog of the year award at the dog and cat of the year awards given by the ASPCA. A cat was awarded a prize for waking someone up in a fire and there were awards given to people, but I'm sure not even many people would have the sense to do the Heimlich maneuver, and cats aren't heavy enough. Both of the award winners were saved after being left abandoned as a puppy and a kitten.

Small animals and farm animals are often killed immediately because housing is not available at shelters. The phrase, "Do Not Breed or Buy While Shelter Pets Die" makes sense when so many millions are discarded. Many of these are purebred animals that few expect to see on "death row."

POPSRingling Bros abusing its elephants? This is not the first time that this circus has been investigated for abusing its elephants. In 2001 the ASPCA sued Ringling Bros for it. Their elephant trainer's tool of choice is the ankus or bullhook - a club with a sharp metal hook on the end which the "trainer" uses to poke the elephant, usually behind the ears, an area that is particularly sensitive and causes the animal extreme pain.
