POPSTreaty of Tripoli - A Quote from Adams -from a discussion on the misuse of article XI As recent clips have surfaced showing the article and citing miscellaneous quotes by Adams with a personal opinion of his true convictions, I felt obliged at least to let the actual quote of the man who cannot defend himself today better represent him. these are not new acusations being made. The reason time was taken to make such statements while he was living is because even in his day , others tried to assign "new beliefs" to his character. It is no surprise that many are making the exact same false claims today, more than two hundred years later.
