POPSOakland Mayor Ron Dellums needs to explain tax mess or resign More: The debt owed to this city by Dellums is incalculable and there is nothing but pride - or arrogance - standing between him and a full public disclosure of the facts surrounding his tax problem. Anything short of that constitutes unacceptable behavior by a public official and violates the public contract between an elected official and the constituency the office serves. I tried to reach the mayor for comment - but he declined to speak with me, his press secretary Paul Rose told me. No one has asked Dellums to disclose anything that any other politician in the same set of circumstances wouldn't be asked to explain. If he cannot provide a public explanation for a controversy that has become another national embarrassment for this city, it's difficult to see how continuing in his current position is going to be good for anyone - either him or Oakland's citizens.

"Eight months ago, if you had asked people which was worse, everybody would have said Pakistan is worse and Afghanistan is in good shape." POPSNo Attempt By "Mainstream" Media to Cover Tea Party
Furthurmore, when I opened the SF Chronicle this Sunday morning not only did I not see even one single hint about our visibility rally or any others that came to my attnetion that occured yesterday - but instead I saw two terrible rather close-minded and racist cartoons. In the Opinion section I saw a cartoon showing several very angry looking, fat, older white people. Imagine the hue and cry if it was a leftist protest and they stereotyped any other races or sexual orientations and had them angry and not making any reasonable sense. There was then a second cartoon where two people are wondering where to find out about the details on the Obama-Care program and are asked to follow the "flying monkeys" This is a reference to the Wizard of Oz, with the Wicked Witch orchestrating them all from a conservative radio station office. I try to keep an open mind and share all points of view within reason, being a teacher but the literally immature and blind arrogance and absolute bias by most

Total per diem allowances (per person, including staff) can top $3,000 for a single trip. Unused funds are supposed to be given back to the government, but congressional records show that rarely happens. It's all part of the "arrogance of D.C.," Sen. Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) told me Monday. "These are lucrative payments since many members have zero expenses overseas." After his last government-sponsored trip to Iraq, Mr. Coburn wrote the U.S. Treasury a check for his unused per diem. Not wanting to be dependent on government handlers, he paid for his own trip to the Middle East a couple of years ago. "I learned a lot more on my own than on the government trips I've been on," he says. POPSMicrosoft acknowledges Linux threat to Windows I run a dual boot as there are still a few things I require from windows but Linux out performs windows in almost every way. It now has a wealth of software to back it up, which was once the major factor in putting potential users off. Microsoft have to face up to the fact that their monopoly is beginning to fall apart and mainly through their own greed and arrogance. A fact highlighted by the success of Firefox and other Mozilla applications. You can get hold of a live CD to try it out if you don't want to jump in feet first just do a web search for Knoppix.
