POPSWoman waits in California hospital for a bed to open up here Those of you that are anxious for government run health care be careful for what you wish for. My wife works for the VA hospital. She states that it is very different than the private sector. There are a LOT more managers but not as much goes toward care. In a very good local hospital, they are trying to go to all Registered Nurses. At the VA hospital, they have one Registered Nurse per shift. (I assume that this means for this wing or area of care. I don't mean to imply that this is true for the entire hospital.) Yet, they do have a guy that walks around in a suit and tie that is in charge of cleaning. (Something you would never see at private hospital.) I don't know what the answer is but does one really think the government can do better?

POPSTorture by US Gov't This is a pretty disgusting fact, that the USA is leading the world in human rights abuses, all the while justifying it under the new "terror laws".

POPSOne Million Ways to Die Driving off the road... as in being IED'ed? Falling... as in falling in battle in an illegal war? Accidental poisoning... as in D.U. munitions? Dying from work... as in US Military? (Or more like David Kelly?) Walking down the street... as in being "disappeared"? Accidental drowning... as in waterboarding? Hmm... well thank heavens at least the billions of $$$ spent have made us safe from "terrorists".:)

POPSHow Much Information? Table 1 depicts yearly worldwide production of original stored content as of 1999. In general, the upper estimate is based on the raw data, while the lower estimate reflects an attempt to adjust for duplication and compression. We discuss these adjustments below and in the medium-specific documents. Note that the growth rate estimates are very rough. See the "Qualifications" section and Appendix A for further discussion; the details of the calculations are presented in the accompanying documents.
