POPSRendition suit by innocent man to be re-heard Is there justice in the USA? Canadian citizen, detained in error for two weeks at JFK, then flown by US to Jordan for interrogation, held for 10 months. Restitution paid by Canadians, but court in US held it had no jurisdiction, saying that while at JFK, Arar was not technically in the USA. Totally innocent man - all now agree - abducted by the USA, probably tortured in Jordan. Can the USA say "Oops" and not be held responsible for the abduction and torture of an innocent man? Are we different than Stalin only by degree?

POPSA Garden Of Healing That Can Divide “Setting up these little gardens for people to stroll around and feel nice is one of these feel-good California-style exercises,” said Michael Arata, a member of the diocese from nearby Danville. “And I don’t see a practical benefit for something like that.” What makes the debate in Oakland all the more fragile is that the garden was developed by two women who were both sexually abused as children by a priest from the Oakland Diocese. Those victims are Jennifer Chapin, 35, and Terrie Light, 57, who says she is not surprised that the garden has met with skepticism. “Look, 99 percent of survivors might think this is stupid and meaningless,” Ms. Light said. “But there might be a few people who say, ‘This is everything to me.’ And then for them, it would be worthwhile.”

POPSSorry FOX, We Won't Let You Trash Michelle Obama You're not going to believe what FOX is up to now—we could hardly believe it ourselves. Not only are they smearing Michelle Obama with racist stereotypes, but then they offer a feeble apology that they believe gives them the right to slander her again. That's what happened when FOX called Michelle and Barack Obama's fist bump a "terrorist fist jab," apologized, and then less than a week later referred to Michelle Obama as Barack's "Baby Mama."

POPSBob Herbert Owes John McCain An Apology On August 2nd, New York Times columnist Bob Herbert accused the McCain campaign of waging a racist attack on Barack Obama for comparing him to Paris Hilton. foul, poisonous and emanated from the upper reaches of the Republican Party. (What a surprise.) designed to exploit the hostility, anxiety and resentment of the many white Americans who are still freakishly hung up on the idea of black men rising above their station and becoming sexually involved with white women.

POPSFree Speech A Casualty Of 'Hate' Powers
What had happened is that one of the chapters of Steyn's New York Times' (and for that matter Canadian) No1 bestseller America Alone had been excerpted and published by Canada's largest weekly magazine. The Canadian Islamic Congress, through the agency of three law students, brought complaints against Steyn and the magazine before the federal human rights commission, and also before two provincial ones. (That's another Orwellian aspect to all this; there is no rule against double, triple or any other multiple jeopardy, as there is no limit to how many complaints can be lodged before different tribunals for the same words.) Since then more has come out that makes these Canadian tribunals or commissions seem even more like kangaroo courts than they already did, which is saying an awful lot. The Canadian Human Rights Commission it would not go ahead with the Steyn prosecution (though the Canadian Islamic Congress has just indicated it will appeal that decision)

POPSDemocrat House "Apologizes" for Slavery This is but another stupid liberal attempt to pander to blacks for their vote this November. The trouble is, the United States Government had nothing to do with "forcing Africans into slavery". In fact it was Arab slave traders who did that. And it was the United States government who went to war to abolish slavery. This government doesn't owe negros an apology. It is the negros who owe gratitude to the United States for the bounty and opportunity afforded them. Another proof that liberals are unfit to run our magnificent country.

POPS"As Anyone Should Apologize"--Finally an Apology for Slavery
This has been long overdue, too long. But it is finally here: an apology for slavery and the Jim Crow laws. This apology should be non-controversial. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is lost by making the apology and something important can be gained: namely, the good will and sense of relief for those who have labored a long time to make the apology happen and those African American parents who can now tell there children that slavery was a great wrong the USA perpetrated against their ancestors but the USA realized it and apologized for it. In the words of the apologies principal sponsor, Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen: "Slavery and Jim Crow are stains upon what is the greatest nation on the face of the earth," Cohen said. Part of forming a more perfect union, he said, "is such a resolution as we have before us today where we face up to our mistakes and apologize as anyone should apologize for things that were done in the past that were wrong." " s anyone should apolog

POPSPope Led Cover-up of Child Abuse by Priests This spotlight now after his recent "apology" for sexual abuse by priests that lacked any credibility. The Pope is a liar, like the devil, as history has consistently demonstrated. "By their fruits ye shall know them", Jesus warned of false prophets. Voila! Where is the repentance for his own role in these crimes of protecting the false church (the primary concern) through evasion and cover-up instead of prosecution and removal? Mass-mongering will never erase nor bring forgiveness for these heinous sins from either God or men! This Antichristian cult must be seen for what it is, a religious-political empire claiming "apostolic authority" of wealth and corruption, pomp, priest-craft, and unscriptural ceremonies that Jesus and the apostles never taught, but consistently warned about would come. This is NOT, nor ever was, a true Christian church or faith, but an impostor.

POPSOutrage over bishop's abuse remarks Speaking from transit in Tokyo, they said Bishop Fisher's comments were outrageous. "We are still grieving over our daughters, and many other victims are struggling every day," he said. "To think this issue is over when the abuse stops is ridiculous. There are people self-harming, committing suicide, drinking, using drugs, because of sexual assaults committed by Catholic priests."

POPSPopulate or perish: Pell Taking the racist line that we must breed up more soldiers to keep the infidel at bay. This at a time when David Attenburough regards overpopulation as the biggest of all the concerns for this planet ( and he is not the sole voice).

POPSRise and fall of the Googled swastika "The trick is knowing the short code (called html) that represents each. In this case, the code a 4chan member posted was the shorthand for the swastika. After the code is processed by a browser, it shows up as the symbol. (Curious readers are invited to try it.) The flurry of searches for the swastika code -- most of which, it seems, were by people who did not know what the code represented -- shot the swastika itself to the top of the trends list. It's a plausible answer, and if it's true it means the motivations involved were more rascal than racial."

POPSUS Afghan raid 'killed civilians' They kill & kill & kill. Then lie & lie & lie ... until the truth surfaces which is NEVER NEVER NEVER the story these professional liars, murderers and torturers tell. They are the international cowards of the world killing the innocent with impunity. Oh sure, when - and ONLY when their asses are exposed, they'll always issue an apology as if they didn't intend to murder babies women, children, the elderly and the innocent. Their morality is at the level of the very bottom of a cesspool full of shit and slime.

POPSWhat is the black hole? The black hole is Price's mind. It's the only thing that is small and dense. The use of the term is entirely appropriate as used by Mayfield. Price needs to get over his hypersensitivity. Mr. Mayfield, you are not being "misunderstood". Mr. Price and the unnamed black official are race baiting.

POPSOn Jesse Jackson's Apology One of the odd criticisms of Jesse Jackson is his insistence that others apologize if they make offensive or racist comments about another individual. Here is an example of Jesse Jackson practicing what he preaches. Apologies are important. (I made one yesterday.) They restore what was made out of balance among persons back to a state of balance as closely as possible depending on the circumstances. They are a way of taking responsibility for one's actions and are an admission, of what we often don't want to acknowledge, our finitude. As such they are a way of inspiring trust in those realistic enough to realize that imperfection is a universal trait. I applaud Jackson's apology. It makes me trust him more.

POPSJesse Helms is Dead Mike Signorile definitely speaks for many LGBT people and our friends in his July 4th blog posting. Although, as I said in a piece I clipped yesterday, I do not take joy in the death of another human being. But in the case of Helms, it is hard to find even a core of sympathy or remorse at his passing. In his professional lifetime, he sent many innocent and good people to their deaths due to his hatemongering and homophobia. If he could not cry for us, how can we cry for him?

POPSChickenhawk Smears Clark;Tries to Speak for Military But the fact that CNN had this kid on to talk about things for which he has no understanding wasn't the only thing that was disturbing. I love how it's totally unacceptable to give anything other than glowing reviews of John McCain's military experience in Media World, while it's okay to slander General Clark's military service. After Ferguson said that Clark had "ticked off everyone in the military," he went on to say that John McCain had "been in actual war zones while Wesley Clark was sitting in an air-conditioned room, telling people what to do with NATO." Ben needs to brush up on his talking points, because Clark was actually shot four times in Vietnam, and left the country on a stretcher. Most people would consider that having been in an "actual war zone." And to be honest, the next person to debate this kid on TV should ask for an apology--or just ask him what he has against wounded Vietnam veterans.
