POPS"In Search of a Real Spaceship"
More from the article below: "We forget today that the Shuttle system was so advanced every other existing space power wanted one. The Europeans called theirs Hermes. The Russians Buran. Japan was designing the Hope space plane. Germany had a really radical design named after space pioneer Eugen Sanger. But alas what they all discovered was a winged vehicle was a complex design whose development would require a lot of cash-and patience. Both were in short supply. So America would wind up flying alone aboard space wings. The Shuttles would wind up doing many incredible things-among which was saving the Russian Mir space station, because the orbiters brought up more water, food and supplies that a dozen Russian Progress supply ships could carry. They deployed satellites. Returned a few back home. They were-and are-without match in the short history of human spaceflight. But, for now, think of spacecraft worthy of following our Shuttles. We don't need any stinkin' capsules!"

POPSnetherlands given- just a regular-rock-and not a moon rock- the rock's provenance goes back to 1969, when William Drees, the late prime minister of the Netherlands, received it as a gift from former US ambassador Middendorf. The worthless rock was presented to the prime minister during a visit by the Apollo 11 astronauts shortly after the first moon landing- gawd! what were they thinking?!!! this is bad!

POPSBoycott of Fox Glenn Beck Show Pure Ratings Gold By contrast, when Bill Maher was hosting "Politically Incorrect," his comments about the relative courage of the terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, set off a firestorm. Several big companies including Fedex and Sears Holding yanked their ads, and some affiliates refused to run the show. It eventually dwindled away and was canceled early the next year, although Maher himself now has a popular program on ad-free HBO. White House appoints 'radical communist' who sees environment as racial issue WND Exclusive JERUSALEM " The man appointed as a special environmental adviser to the White House recently was as an admitted radical communist and black nationalist leader. Jones, formerly a self-described "rowdy black nationalist," boasted in a 2005 interview that his environmental activism was a means to fight for racial and class "justice."

POPSTop 15 Nasa inventions 9. Memory foam: created for aircraft seats to soften landing, this foam, which returns to its original shape, is found in mattresses and shock absorbing helmets. 10. Satellite television: technology used to fix errors in spacecraft signals helps reduce scrambled pictures and sound in satellite television signals. 11. Scratch resistant lenses: astronaut helmet visor coating makes our spectacles ten times more scratch resistant. 12. Shoe insoles: athletic shoe companies adapted space boot designs to lessen impact by adding spring and ventilation. 13. Smoke detector: Nasa invented the first adjustable smoke detector with sensitivity levels to prevent false alarms. 14. Swimsuit: Nasa used the same principles that reduce drag in space to help create the world’s fastest swimsuit for Speedo, rejected by some professionals for giving an unfair advantage. 15. Water filter: domestic versions borrow a technique Nasa pioneered to kill bacteria in water taken into space.

POPSBuzz Aldrin: "There's a monolith on the moon of Mars" more; We should go boldly where man has not gone before. Fly by the comets, visit asteroids, visit the moon of Mars. There’s a monolith there. A very unusual structure on this potato shaped object that goes around Mars once in seven hours. When people find out about that they’re going to say ‘who put that there? Who put that there?’ The universe put it there. If you choose, God put it there…”

POPSWhat to expect if you ever call a pioneer of space exploration a coward Buzz Aldrin KO's a "we-never-went-to-the-moon" conspiracy wacko The moon doesn’t make people crazy. However, it sure does help point to crazy people. Take Whoopi Goldberg. Please. Take her far, far away. The former Captain Planet and the Planeteers star has questioned the moon landings. Really. Personally, I’d like to see Buzz Aldrin take a shot at her. Like he did this idiot:

POPS"On Her Majesty's Space Service" more (at source): "We need to get the next generation excited about the idea of missions to Mars, as one of the people who might go from this country is probably a teenager today," he said. "We should keep a focus of the areas that we are good at – building satellites, space science, building probes etc – but also consider the probability of a British person going to Mars."
