Third-party runs are for real in N.J., N.Y. races
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-31-2009
But the impact of those candidacies on the high-profile contests points to an anti-incumbent, anti-establishment sentiment that could be a prevailing theme in the 2010 congressional elections and beyond. "What it says is the public is looking for less self-interested parties and candidates who can reflect the needs of a very frustrated public," said Douglas Astolfi, a history professor at Florida's St. Leo University. "We have two wars and we're in a recession that neither party seems to address in any positive way. There's a deep sense that government has abandoned the common man. People are frustrated and angry."

Divide and Rule (divide et impera)
sahara
by sahara  9-17-2009    1
It is one of the principal tasks of all those with influence within the anti-Establishment movement to expose the strategy of divide et impera. International, national and local leaders, writers and ordinary radicals all have a role to play in educating themselves and others about this strategy, how it has been used in the past, how it is currently being used, and how to counter it. The simple act of drawing attention to it can reduce its effectiveness by creating an awareness of the importance of unity and the dangers of bickering and disunity. Much is at stake. The technological resources of the New World Order are such that if it achieves hegemony over all the earth it will be difficult or impossible to reverse the situation. A global concentration and entrenchment of imperial power will ensue that will dwarf every other tyranny that the world has ever known. Look at where we are now, In my lifetime, I have never seen our country so divided! Left vs Right, black vs white.

Obama Official Inauguration Poster
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  1-18-2009
The 'street artist,' who made this (and the HOPE poster for the campaign) is another one of those Obama supporters who contacted the campaign and said he just had to do something to support Obama and he had made this poster. His inititial one word on the poster was: PROGRESS. The campagain asked his to change it to: HOPE. A later version came out, closer to the elections that said: VOTE. And now his work is the official poster for the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States. Pretty good. I think any phony made propaganda can never be as strong as what comes for real out of people's hearts. This street artist had previously been arrested just over 20 times for an apparently irresistible craving to paint larger-than life sized graffiti pop art on the side of buildings, a few of which had anti-establishment themes (such as: Big Brother is Watching You). Lots of the art world seem to hate what he does ('agitpropr poster art). Now he's in the Nationa

David Brooks: Bush shows why Palin unqualified
masbury
by masbury  9-16-2008    1
This part of the populist strain of American conservatism disdains knowledge and prudence, favoring instinct, and compensates for lack of experience with brashness. They're great at rallying cries, but inept at the complex, historically contextual discipline of governance. She's not familiar enough with US history, for instance, to understand the significance of what she does. His government demonstrates the failure of her approach.

He understood the implications of Obama's passing over Hillary--not that Clinton voters would vote for McCain-Palin (though if even a few do so, it could make a difference), but that his pick of Palin when compared with Obama's shying away from Hillary would show McCain as a bolder and more confident leader. And he had the sense that Palin's anti-establishment conservatism, pro-family feminism, and tough-minded reformism would add something important to his campaign.

Congressman Alcee Hastings & THE RADICAL ISLAMIC Connection
Judge Love
by Judge Love  8-3-2008    1
They say, "A man or a woman is judged and measured by the quality of their friends." I say Congressman Alcee Hastings is apparently in good company with this band of low-lifes who all have one thing in common, an ISLAMIC RADICAL & ANTI-AMERICAN THUG named Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam, who as you see, came to the defense of... Let's list them for comparison: Alcee Hastings (ousted judge) OJ Simpson Libyan Terrorist Muammar Qaddafi Mass Murderer - President Idi Amin of Uganda The Black Panther Party Convicts Doing Life in Attica State Prison _______________________________ Come'on Alcee, tell us if you've been training under Farrakhan. Farrakhan's anti-establishment sentiment sure reminds me of how you (Mr. Disgraced Judge & Congressman), diss our government officials like you are some militant in black sunglasses, standing at the right side of Farrkhan's shoulder. Coincidence? Perhaps not !

George Carlin Dies at 71, Selected last week for Mark Twain Prize.
revenantdm
by revenantdm  6-23-2008
Carlin was many things: Comedian, Actor, Anti-Establishment and political satirist, and an iconoclast that became an icon. Probably best remembered for his "7 Words" bit, I remember his "What is the Difference Between a Sport and an Activity " better. He was an amazing, insightful man with a crisp biting humor. He will be missed.

Will Coulter Finally Meet Her Match in Carlin?
zasel
by zasel  6-14-2006    1
I have the feeling Mr. Carlin is going to have to have his thesaurus available so he can avoid using the four letter words he can use live or on cable. I am sure he can think of no one more suitable that Ms. Coulter to aim them at.
