POPSWith So Much Hate/Fear Spewing, Obama Must Be Doing the Right Things When the fear mongers start frothing and spittle collects on the chin, those they fear and hate the most must be doing something right - grin. I have more faith in Americans than those who make a living trying to scare us. I believe in standing up for what you believe, what you are for but try not to get too excited by the Dobbs and Becks of the world. Sometimes though, you just gotta let loose and say: "What are these people thinking in making such wild and untruthful claims!"

POPSSouthern Poverty Law Center Report: Climate of Fear Latino Immigrants in Suffolk County, N.Y.[ Less than one year ago, on Nov. 8, 2008, Marcelo Lucero, an Ecuadorian immigrant, was murdered in the town of Patchogue, N.Y. The killing, police say, was carried out by a gang of teenagers who called themselves the Caucasian Crew and targeted Latino residents as part of a sport they termed "beaner-hopping." ,,, The situation in Suffolk County, in fact, is a microcosm of a problem facing the entire United States, where FBI statistics suggest a 40% rise in anti-Latino hate crimes between 2003 and 2007, the latest numbers available. The number of hate groups in America has been rising, too, climbing more than 50% since 2000, mainly by exploiting the issue of undocumented non-white immigration.

POPSLou Dobbs and his hate groupies "t's bad enough that employers take advantage of undocumented immigrants. For CNN to sit back and count the Dobbs dollars rolling in at the expense of such people is even worse. If Dobbs won't end his association with FAIR, CNN should do the right thing and end its association with Dobbs."

POPSModern Know Nothing Loves to Hide His Hate Behind Front Organizations Seems he must have learned well from old time CIA and Communist methods of using reasonably sounding front organizations to gather up money and support for rabid anti-immigrant views and white supremacy beliefs. He even uses some fronts to advocate rigid immigration rule and help to convince West Africans to stay where they are. If it looks fair - sort of - but smells very conservative in some aspects - it might be a front for racists.

POPSJudicial Watch Obtains Obama Documents Detailing ACORN Partnership for 2010 Census
* Overall, 8% of the applicants, or over 300,000 people, were considered risks for hire. According to the U.S. Census documents, among other things, census data is used to allocate $300 billion in federal funds. Census data also "determines how many seats each state will have in the House of Representatives as well as the redistricting of state legislatures, county and city councils, and voting districts." "Given its history of illegal activity and fraud, ACORN should be nowhere near the 2010 Census," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "And shame on the Obama Commerce Department for continuing to demonize conservatives by lumping together law enforcement and anti-immigration groups with 'hate groups.' This discriminatory policy raises First Amendment concerns. Indeed, these documents provide further evidence that the Obama administration is politicizing the 2010 Census." Census Bureau refuses to partner with "Hate Groups, Law Enforcement, Anti-Immigrant

Census Bureau refuses to partner with "Hate Groups, Law Enforcement, Anti-Immigrant Groups" The documents also show the decision to add ACORN as a partner occurred in February, long after the January 15th Census partnership application deadline. Among other conclusions from the documents: * The Census Bureau requested that ACORN "help us highlight innovation and hard work and share best practices so other organizations can learn from your experiences." * Members of the Census Bureau and Department of Commerce staff assigned to organize the 2010 Census were unaware of when the decision to involve ACORN was made, how the Census Bureau choose and defined partners, or whether partners received payment. * The Census Bureau did not conduct background checks on the 3.7 million people hired to conduct the 2000 Census, unless a preliminary name check provided a match. Overall, 8% of the applicants, or over 300,000 people, were considered risks for hire.

POPSThe Vast Majority Of Americans Agree "In a particularly ugly moment in last week’s House debate, Representative Virginia Foxx, Republican of North Carolina, declared that Mr. Shepard’s death was “a hoax,” repeating a right-wing canard that he was not a target because he was gay. Luckily, Ms. Foxx is part of a dwindling — if still too vocal — minority. A Hart Research poll released in February 2007 found that 73 percent of those surveyed support hate-crimes legislation that protects gays."

POPSAnti-Latino Hate Crimes Rise for Fourth Year in a Row At the same time as anti-Latino violence has risen, the Southern Poverty Law Center has reported a major increase in hate groups — from 602 in 2000 to 888 in 2007, a 48% percent jump — and said that the growth has been almost entirely driven by the immigration debate.

POPSAmerica: State of the Nayshun
the real cost of America's hate-affair with knowledge is paid by children, for whom words like "learning" and "wisdom" sound biblical and words like "intelligence" elitist and judgmental. Those of us old enough to remember the sixties well remember that every classroom had at least one kid (usually an immigrant from Canada or Pakistan) whose father (usually an academic or ACLU attorney) had turned the television set into a planter. But those of us who have survived The Love Boat, Three's Company and Charlie's Angels to enter the world of Rap and shows about whinnying wannabe Britneys celebrating million dollar Sweet Sixteen parties have survived to witness the reversal of culture—a new barbarism and a vulgarity that, unlike the old vulgarity, incoherently accepts political correctness while exploiting and expanding every stereotype, every dumb opinion, every rude form of discourse. It's a barbarism fueled by technologies made available to the know-nothings by the know-hows, free speech

POPSDid McCain agree with Obama before he disagreed? From the article: "Sure, it's not exactly the same, but it's pretty darn similar. In fact, McCain seems to be saying something far more controversial. While Obama is saying economic hardship breeds anti-immigrant feelings, McCain is saying lots of rural people just hate Hispanics. That may or may not be true - but the fact that McCain's campaign is feigning outrage over Obama's truisms when their own candidate has made thematically similar statements strikes me as...what's the word...oh yeah - dishonest."

POPSAmerica's Home-Grown Terrorism A report released last week by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups and hate crimes, found that, "The last two years have seen the birth of at least 144 'nativist extremist' groups -- organizations that do not merely target immigration policies they don't agree with, but instead confront or harass individual immigrants."
