POPSHot Air: Welcome to the Obama Administration’s “New Transparency” I’m sure it is … for analysts and Fannie and Freddie workers, but I’m not sure taxpayers should share that optimism. The report states the U.S. Treasury will receive preferred stock paying 10% dividends and warrants to acquire nearly 80% of the common shares in Fannie and Freddie. However, the Treasury has already loaned $60 billion to Fannie and $51 billion to Freddie. At this point, it’s hard to believe more money is the answer. Maybe the New York Times was right: Democrats plan to talk about deficit reduction in 2010 but not do anything about it for now. Or as President Obama puts it: “Mr. Obama calls it “a false choice” to pit spending to spur the economy against reducing the deficit. His advisers say the president, and American voters, favor both " spending to create jobs in the short term, and commitment to spending discipline and deficit reduction over the long term.”

POPSObama Orders 1 Million US Troops To “Prepare For Civil War” He is to announce in a nationwide address to his people this coming week that he is going to expand the level of US Military Forces in Afghanistan by tens of thousands of troops, while at the same time using the deployment of these soldiers as a “cover” for returning to the United States over 200,000 additional American soldiers from the over 800 bases in over 39 countries they have stationed around the Globe bringing the level of these forces in America to over 1 million, a number the US Military believes will be able to contain the “explosion of violence” expected to roil these peoples when they learn their economy has been bankrupted.

POPSWealth on Health The report by healthcare analysts Dr Foster found that 12 trusts are putting patients at serious risk because of life-threatening errors and 'systemic' safety failings - even though eight of them were praised as 'good' or 'excellent' by the Care Quality Commission health watchdog only last month. It also found that 27 trusts - a fifth of the total - have unusually high death rates - equating to almost 5,000 excess deaths. More than half of the 27 are supposedly elite foundation trusts. The joint-tenth-worst, Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, is said by Dr Foster to have a death rate 15 per cent higher than the national average. Yet its chief executive, Julian Hartley, saw his pay rise by 32 per cent from £125,000 to £165,000 when his trust attained foundation status in December 2007. He has now left to join South Manchester, another of the least-safe trusts on the list.
