POPSObama Bombs On SOTU There is no way to sell the stimulus crap, but he is wasting time trying. He is angry, frustrated and defensive. Update: Obama asked how long should we wait to address issues? Simple answer: until you are out of office. And since when is Communist China the model for America’s free market??? Disaster. Update: The man is a dupe " there is no overwhelming evidence on of global warming. He is going to look an idiot as the global warming con becomes exposed over this year. Update: LJStrata and DJStrata noticed a lot of dems (the First Lady included) wore purple, supposedly to signal their allegiance to independents? How lame. Update: Speaking of fixing our education system and strengthening math skills, did anyone catch the fact that the average savings on mortgage payments was $1500, which I think is close to the average monthly payment. So how is it the the average savings would mean now payments???? Math skills and liberalism don’t mix.

POPSOliver Stone Wants Us to Understand Hitler
Now, I suppose “thoroughly” was code for “unfairly,” but he’s right about Mao, Hitler and Stalin – it’s just the way things works, I guess, when you kill millions of innocent people. But true to his blind allegiance to relativism, Stone claims that “we can’t judge people as only ‘bad’ or ‘good.’ Hitler was an easy scapegoat.” He’s right: you had to blame the Holocaust on someone. But finger pointing is so judgmental! Case in point: Stone claims that conservative pundits will really dislike the show – maybe because conservative pundits don’t require psychoanalysis to understand Hitler’s motivations. Me? I don’t care if Adolf’s mommy never loved him, or the maid made fun of his willy. I had similar problems, and I still didn’t kill six million Jews. But saying only conservative pundits will be upset by this is really a slap in the face of all progressives. For Stone assumes that – unlike right wingers – the left will willingly accept his revisionist look at history’s greatest mass

POPSOne Nation Under God - Jon McNaughton These men and women were passionately religious and saw the hand of God all around them. To God they gave Thanks for His Hand in the founding of this great nation. To Him, according to their own testimony they turned for wisdom and strength when life and liberty hung in the balance. Certainly the debate on separation of church and state will continue. But no one can dispute how our Founding Fathers and Patriots felt about God. The record is clear! 'One Nation Under God' is Jon McNaughton's witness and reminder that those who went before us knew from whence their blessings came! POPSThe Pledge of Allegiance is un-American Ironically, the Pledge of Allegiance, which today is most fiercely defended by white conservative Southerners whose Confederate ancestors tried to destroy the United States in the 1860s, was written by a Yankee socialist from New York in the 1890s. Francis Bellamy was a progressive Baptist minister and a Christian socialist who composed the pledge for the 400-year Columbus anniversary in 1892 and published it in a youth magazine. His cousin Edward Bellamy, a socialist from Massachusetts (Glenn Beck, are you taking notes?), was the author of the 1888 bestselling utopian novel "Looking Backward: 2007-1887," which described a collectivist America in 2007 in which everyone is drafted in an "industrial army" and dines in public kitchens. (Instead of an industrial army, the United States in 2007 had a reserve army of the unemployed and working poor, and instead of public kitchens we had Starbucks.)

POPSPledge Of Allegiance Is Un-American Interesting and thoughtful article on the history of the pledge and why, perhaps, its use is not such a great idea. Also, though it never occured to me to ask before now, do schoolkids in other countries (England, Canada, Italy, Peru, Japan, etc...) have to say a pledge to their government/flag before starting their day? The essay is not very long and interesting to read.

POPSA boy and his flag This kid is incredible! If he represents our future, I'll be one happy person! I wonder what would happen if we ALL did this ... we could finally change this country for the better!

POPSWhat does it mean to be an American? This 10-year-old boy gets it More: After asking his parents whether it was against the law not to stand for the pledge, Will decided to do something. On Monday, Oct. 5, when the other kids in his class stood up to recite the pledge of allegiance, he remained sitting down…Each day, the substitute got a little more cross with him. On Thursday, it finally came to a head… Will was sent to the office… At the end of our interview, I ask young Will a question that might be a civics test nightmare for your average 10-year-old. Will's answer, though, is good enough — simple enough, true enough — to give me a little rush of goose pimples. What does being an American mean? “Freedom of speech,” Will says, without even stopping to think. “The freedom to disagree. That's what I think pretty much being an American represents.” Somewhere, Thomas Jefferson smiles.

POPSShould Kids Recite Flag Code Along With The Pledge Of Allegiance The first Flag Code came during a time of similar national upheaval. In 1942, Congress passed the first resolution to endorse flag etiquette, including the proper way to fold, display and dispose of the flag. Massachusetts entered the debate in 1970, when Leominister teenager Valerie Goguen was sentenced to six months in jail for using an American flag patch on a pair of jeans. The Supreme Court overturned his conviction in the 1974 case Smith v. Goguen. Goguen still lives in Leominster, and is still adamant that the case is about love for the flag.

POPSConstitution? Treaties? Sovereignty? The lamenting over the obstacle that is the Constitution goes on with Liberals and World-Order phony Conservatives (read: today's Republicans) alike. Puppet cable news pundits want to imprint an image of Independents as moderates - in the "middle" of either "fringe". It depends, doesn't it? Higher elites of both persuasions strive to find a way to topple the Constitution, maybe to slightly varying goals, while the Independents really want to maintain sovereignty and the Constitution. Doesn't that put Ind.'s on the Right, with Rep.'s & Dem.'s on the Left? Criticisms against Obama policies are met by Bush criticisms. Enough. That's the wrong paradigm. Isn't it ? Aren't they both the puppets for those of NO county? Of NO allegiance but to a World Gov.? Or am I all wet, here?

POPSAnalysis: Al Qaeda is The Tip of The Jihadist Spear
Indeed, al Qaeda leaders have long recognized that Mullah Omar is firmly behind them. Abdullah Sa'id, an al Qaeda commander who leads its “Shadow Army,” has openly mocked the idea that Mullah Omar would betray al Qaeda now. “US and Western sources talk about their readiness to accept the Taliban in the Afghan future political structure should it leave the Al Qaeda," he has said. But that is not reality, Sa'id explained: “However, these sources close the eyes to the fact that Mullah Mohammad Omar has lost his throne upon his refusal to hand over one person who is Osama bin Laden. Thus, will Mullah Mohammad Omar agree to a condition which he refused when he used to rule and when the United States was at the top of its might, and accept it now while he is on the threshold of a victory over his enemies?” Sa'id’s calculation is plain. Mullah Omar would not agree to turn over bin Laden when he was faced with the prospect of imminent annihilation.

POPS..and One Rumour Obama Cannot Dispel "Fact: Obama is eighth cousin to Cheney, according to research by the vice-president's wife Lynne. The two men share a common ancestor in a 17th-century French immigrant." Crikey, I think I would shoot myself if I shared common ancestry with war monger Cheney.

POPSIn Crazy American Dictatorship Prediction News He was the most intelligent person we’ve had in that position for a long time. But he’s inexperienced … “ “Most intelligent for a long time” seems like a bit of stretch. Even so, old codgers, if they know nothing else, usually know that having intelligence without experience is like knowing how roller skates work without ever having been on them. That’s why they’re always grousing about young whippersnappers. Vidal’s example shows it’s never too late to learn from your mistakes, though when you read on, you’ll see he hasn’t. Meanwhile, in other crazy American dictatorship predictions, there’s this guy on the right side of the aisle who also thinks U.S. military officers will be staging a coup soon. The column by John L. Perry, who I managed to avoid encountering before he lost his mind, got yanked by NewsMax but most of it is here at The Moderate Voice. http://themoderatevoice.com/48019/newsmax-calls-for-a-military-coup-in-u-s/

POPSGore Vidal: ‘We’ll have a dictatorship soon in the US’ ”The Republicans will win the next election, Vidal believes; though for him there is little difference between the parties. “Remember the coup d’etat of 2000 when the Supreme Court fixed the selection, not election, of the stupidest man in the country, Mr Bush.”

POPSA Conversation With Gore Vidal Unfolds: ‘We’ll Have A Dictatorship Soon In The US’ He has crossed every boundary, I say. “Crashed many barriers,” he corrects me. Last year he famously switched allegiance from Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama during the Democratic nomination process for president. Now, he reveals, he regrets his change of heart. How’s Obama doing? “Dreadfully. I was hopeful. He was the most intelligent person we’ve had in that position for a long time. But he’s inexperienced. He has a total inability to understand military matters. He’s acting as if Afghanistan is the magic talisman: solve that and you solve terrorism.” America should leave Afghanistan, he says. “We’ve failed in every other aspect of our effort of conquering the Middle East or whatever you want to call it.” The “War on Terror” was “made up”, Vidal says. “The whole thing was PR, just like ‘weapons of mass destruction’. It has wrecked the airline business, which my father founded in the 1930s.

POPSGore Vidal needs a nap Another sneering elitist jerk insults the American people and , just for laughs, predicts Obama's assassination! Whutta guy! He was however right about one thing: Obama IS failing.

POPSBibles by Victoria Jackson Born Aug. 2,1959 in Miami, Florida, Victoria was raised in a Bible-believing, piano-playing, gymnastic home with no TV. Her dad was a gym coach, so she competed in gymnastics from ages 5-18. Cheerleader.. homecoming queen.. attended Florida Bible College; received a gymnastic scholarship to Furman University, attended Auburn University one year, and ended up in Hollywood, CA via summer stock in Alabama, where she met Johnny Crawford (The Rifleman) who promptly put her in his night club act and sent her a one-way ticket to the show-biz capital. Following her 20 appearances with Johnny Carson, she starred in many movies and TV shows, most notably six seasons on "Saturday Night Live." It's a shame SNL has ruined their show. There was a time when it catered to all audiences.

POPSDisaster: Tyler Perry to Write, Prouduce and Directed Ntozake Shange's Choreopoem For Colored Girls
Jezebel's Latoya Peterson had a similar reaction to the news, asking "Is Tyler Perry the Right Man to Tell Black Women's Stories?" Directing? Fine. Producing? Cool. But writing and adapting it? From someone who writes flat, two-dimensional woman characters in all of his work? Even under the best of circumstances, I would be skeptical of a black man tackling a project like this. To bring Shange's vision to light would take an understanding of why this work of art is so deeply intertwined with black women's articulation of their own struggles under racist, patriarchal oppression — something that unfortunately, many still deny to this day. Black women's voices are often lost in discussions of race (because all the blacks are men) and discussions of gender (because all women are white) and Ntozake Shange was beyond brave to put down all of these ideas and present them for public consumption even in the face of heavy criticism from black men when the play was released.[
