POPSLake Eyre Lake Eyre is in the news with it's amazing birdlife. The clip gives links to other places in the Eyre Basin. Unbelievable bird life, etc. (It is the fabled inland sea which explorers died trying to find. They thought the land around would be arable and walked straight past Lake Eyre.)

POPSThe Outback's Samson and Delilah continues: The story's backdrop is the hauntingly beautiful red desert landscape of the interior: a region unvisited by most Australians, who are more likely to pass by at 30,000 feet on their way to Europe or South-east Asia. Warwick Thornton, the film's writer and director, believes that while they're aware of the area's social problems, they view its Aboriginal inhabitants as barely more than statistics.

POPSA New Push to Turn Off the Lights in 2009 When I lived in Alice Springs sky viewing was great, but it was better when camping out of town. Translate that to cities and you can't see a thing. Some didn't make it. Those going back due to illness either died or were fit by the time they reached the Oodnadatta "hospital", where a midwife waited.

POPSBoy wreaks zoo havoc while feeding croc "The boy was unknown at the center and had "clammed up" when questioned by police on what sparked the rampage, he said. Neindorf said he was now looking at suing the parents of the pint-sized terror, who could easily have been taken by Terry himself as he fed the croc from a small landing at his enclosure. "We'll be looking at suing the parents, who were supposedly in control of him at the time," he said."
